  1. If you don’t like them running on us, you’ll really hate them passing on us
  2. salary counts fully in its year Signing bonus amortizes over the remaining years (up to 5) The bar napkin would be swapping a 10m hit into 5 2m hits, for example. team gets flexibility and the player gets money today instead of during the season.
  3. This early in his career, it’s hard to say it’s something more substantial and not just bad luck a couple times. if we get a high pick- great. If not, at least a reason to hope for improvement. I don’t expect guys to randomly shoot through the roof but a high ankle is substantial to play through, potentially
  4. I hate to say it but the best news of the off-season was that he had a high ankle right? He looked like a cruise ship changing direction at times if his leg truly heals up it could be major
  5. I’ll just keep saying it: I think he also helps replace mckenzie. If you chalk a few of the dollars to slot receiver it’s helpful.
  6. I mean, it depends what you qualify as false. he probably has mutual interest from some of not all of those. Is it false for the 3 that do t materialize? my bet is beane is doing homework in case the running back market is soft and he can steal one a little cheaper than normal
  7. you have to understand though that the saints worst hits were self inflicted. You give those massive signing bonuses and cut/trade a guy inside a year - that’s different than just manipulating the money. jimmy graham, and Junior galette come to mind. Imagine if we cut Miller today- that’s a different issue than restructuring Josh to play with money. then roll in bounty gate - loss of picks, a year of drama etc… and that they were on the cusp a few times- the rams pass interference, the diggs touchdown both were very possibly Super Bowl trips lost. ill take the ring, and what should’ve been at least one more trip
  8. Seems like a good guy. I bet hed fit in with our locker room exceptionally. I don’t know what his efficiency looked like- didn’t watch a ton of the lions but he sure found the end zone. If he could handle short yardage and pair with cook (and hynes) it could be a fun trip potentially.
  9. I don’t think Emmanuel was the change last year
  10. I meant our bills mediocrity. The saints had a solid run.
  11. look at all the other examples? Why is tre the gold standard of what to expect?
  12. very poor coaching: check Aging roster: top 5 oldest and aging. Also actively limiting options to move on from the guys at the edge of the cliff. draft resources: traded that top 10 pick this year to burn a year of a rookie WR without a qb Among the worst cap situations in the league: hell yea - not just this year but dead money adding up fast in future years. this is a team with non existent ownership and a front office that’s comfortable coasting as the 5th-8th to save their jobs instead of trying to reset like everything is screaming to do. They should’ve been fired last year for the thought of trading away a future first without a qb and without acquiring a qb. I’ve defended the saints loudly for the last decade - but this isn’t the time. It’s as dysfunctional as any situation in the league today and they are committing to status quo for years with these restructures and the carr signing. I feel like you might be making a joke about that twenty year run of mediocrity.
  13. I think we diverge on whether winning a bad division or winning the conference is the goal. But I suppose getting hot at the right time can turn any team into a contender. just don’t love the idea of putting all the chips in to be good in a bad division instead of simply to become great.
  14. I agree fully. so they end up 10-7 and get bounced early? they aren’t Super Bowl contenders in my book unless a few guys make big jumps. MT being one but also kamara returning to form, honey badger not continuing to decline, finding a fill at TE… and coaching improving a lot. They were terrible on that front. it’s possible but it feels like they pushed a lot of cap hits down the line to be a team that will be good enough to save jobs for a year or two
  15. have to think a new deal is part of this, but that’s just speculation Way to take the worst case
  16. yea- Thomas, olave and kamara COULD be a good trio with am effective distributor at the helm just think this type of move is too late in their cycle and doesn’t make them a contender so much as stuck in the .500 purgatory with opportunities to win the division and lose early in the playoffs.
  17. It’s likely tacking on fake years to reduce his cap hit, primarily
  18. I think the phrase “met my expectations” is too vague? my expectations for him or the team? My expectations as they evolve or at hire? he has exceeded what I thought he would do at hire. He is probably in the ballpark for what I expect a franchise to use as its baseline for success. He has not reached the pinnacle though.
  19. Yes but 10% of 70% is not “half my check” status either if we are auditing claims
  20. he’s going to hate finding out federal tax was the issue and that half his game checks weren’t even taxed in NY
  21. I suspect this is well within the realm of possibilities he could run the week for McD, or be the trusted eyes and ears if an outsider comes in. that said, where are we with contracts for assistants on defense?
  22. the only other hope is he was playing through much more than we knew about as fans. he just was terrible with agility, body control etc… at times. If gutting out some injuries maybe he comes back stronger. Otherwise, sure would be nervous putting my eggs in his basket
  23. And that’s what they got their hands on. Now do bad routes, bad reads, etc…
  24. he’s currently a number 2 the way fitz was a starting qb- great off the bench but not getting it done on the level many teams have. the difference being Davis could put it together but right now he is limited and in a “as strong as your weakest link” sense if we add a lineman or two he could be that guy next year
  25. define for me the difference between low two and high 3 or 4? Sure he’s a boundary guy not a slot - so that may be an effect here/ but I’m not sure anyone can really articulate the gap between WR50 and WR70 in WR rankings. it’s incomplete guys that can contribute heavily. Scheme and role fit being bigger impact than gaps in talent through much of that. If 4 is your first perimeter backup…. That may be where he slots up for most teams as a below average 2 that’s not a slot guy though
