Joey Bosa signs with Buffalo. 1 year, $12.6 million
NoSaint replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
realistically there’s enough guaranteed he will be on the roster. And most of the 12 is probably real. he’s a 5 time pro bowler at a premium position. While damaged he’s not a fringe player at this point -

I mean, short of a full season out, the risk is like a $5m overpay if he pays 2/3 of the year and is just ok? -

On a 1 year? I’d take it over von -
I agree that there’s something still but at a bit of a loss for how to slot up that piece reasonably it’s generally an expensive skill set but you can’t add another guy making starter money. So either a bit of a washed vet (mecole, Mike williams… is this the last team for Brandin cooks to sign with?!?). Westbrook ikhine was probably close to that archetype today but treads towards just keeping hollins at that point? or like a 3rd rounder that can be in very precise packages?

I’m good with this -
just wait til it’s like jk dobbins for 5M and we are all left totally clueless on what it means ((no im not actually calling that, advocating, or seeing rumors- just joking about the most puzzling move I could peg))
-
and what did they contribute their first year? im comfortable saying that most guys at elite positions that are in the 3rd wave off the board are usually project to get to their ceilings or have lower ceilings- not as often they come in as a game breaker year 1
-
we probably aren’t reshaping our pass rush at 30 - while we likely add some pieces on the draft, I’m not holding breathe on a game changer right from day 1
-
only other thing that pops to mind if digging there is targets per route run? Ie he is open but not getting thrown to because he’s off location? im not advocating that’s the answer for the anomaly in the numbers, but sharing another idea for your rabbit hole
-
can you imagine a worse room than Arthur smith, Aaron Rodgers and Nate hackett?
-
would potentially explain his struggle to move up the depth chart without injury assistance. only watched so much chargers football but from afar seemed he was always poised for a jump that never came
-
honestly, kind of an enigma. not blazing and I don’t think an exceptional route runner but lots of separation. Lots of space and a good qb but minimal production it’s in the past made me think of Gabe Davis as a noteworthy deep threat somehow despite moving like a cruise ship, not being a high point guy and not being particularly qb friendly. just doesn’t really add up?
-
We can’t hit our potential with hollins leading us in touchdowns. im not sure Palmer is the guy, but hollins can’t be our best perimeter red zone threat
-
I mean we have a 15m a 12m and a 9m guy plus a “1st round pick” dedicated sure, we might add something but I doubt it’s substantial i wonder what a Rondale Moore is slotting up for these days he was enjoyable but he couldn’t be a WR2/3 for us and we need that (really need better than that)
-
dear lord. I think everyone involved thinks even being hollins would be a monumental bust for a signing like this. Hopefully he’s a genuinely good starting wr
-
yea a lot of question marks here. I thought he would really break out at some point but for a team with a good qb, previous WR success, and desperate need for a young wr to step up…. Somehow he did not. hopefully the reset sparks that in a way that the chargers did not
-
Davis was often almost exclusively a blocking guy, so 70 was unlikely

QB Justin Fields to the Jets as per Tom Pelisserro
NoSaint replied to RiotAct's topic in The Stadium Wall
he will be a quarterback taking reps this year if you are on the field you just aren’t going under 20 prr -
Not shocked as a target. incredibly curious to see what shows up on the field though. Could really go either way
-
I’ll stress again the difference between me wanting it and me offering the possibility that it may happen. that said… kupp has always split snaps so a slight shift outside by him and Samuel, while Shakir also can move around the offense…. These guys aren’t all locked into splitting reps at a single location.
-
im not entirely confident of that. I think a coin flip he retires due to lack of serious interest. Pull out kickers and QBs and he’s among the oldest guys in the league to some degree, even on a cheap deal…. His history is tough to carry. Fans will be perpetually disappointed
-
I fully understand all of that and pointed out this issue last offseason but there we were drafting Keon and not adding perimeter speed so now I’ll say I’m not shocked if we bring in the king of the slot with 3 of the guys you mentioned not achieving like we would hope I don’t know. You do the full reset and come out with major flexibility because you intend to push chips on the table not to be thrifty
