In my mind, Beane landing this extra trade chip essentially puts him in a better position to make a move, if one of the top guys starts to fall within a reasonable reach. And if that doesn’t happen, he has some ammo to move up in the 2nd round, if there’s a WR he really likes but doesn’t have a 1st round grade on.

This is where my head is at on the move Beane just made. He might really like a couple WRs, maybe one would require a move up in the 1st round. Maybe some others could be had by trading down into the 2nd or trading up from the bottom of the 2nd. If he sees a few guys that can start to take Diggs’ place sooner than later, he’s at least gotten an extra trade chip now, giving him that flexibility to make moves that maybe he otherwise wouldn’t be able to.

Maybe Beane just wants one of the WRs in the draft that is younger, faster and will be cheaper over the next 4-5 years, versus one of these older vets. Getting the extra trade chip gives him more ability to make a move to get a 1st or 2nd round target this year. He’s mentioned before that’s how they were able to land a guy like Josh.

No doubt in my mind Beane plans to use draft capital from next year’s draft, in order to move up in either the 1st or 2nd round this year and draft the WR he wants. Question is who does he really like and how much is he willing to spend.

When Beane goes out and uses this draft capital to move up in this year’s draft and snag a stud WR, everyone will be posting this gif:

B. Trading for a likely late 2nd in next year’s draft and trading away some late round assets is essentially like getting a late 3rd/early 4th in this year’s draft for Diggs. With his cost and age, we weren’t going to get much more, and this is very similar to what Keenan Allen went for. I also am expecting that Beane will flip at least some picks from next year’s draft now, in order to move up and get the WR he’s coveting in this year’s draft. So I don’t believe for a second this move isn’t going to help the team this year.

I would work him in slowly as a FG blocking specialist. There’s a rumor teams around the league are going to slowly start moving FG kicks closer to the line of scrimmage. He can be our secret defense.

Can he drive fast and get into domestic disputes?

Totally agree. We really haven’t gotten bounced from the playoffs because of seeding for a while now. Very easily could/should have won 13 seconds even though that was on the road. And then we couldn’t stop the run against the Bengals and Chiefs two years in a row at home. This year the offense kept it close throughout, but couldn’t pull it out in the end. Based on FA signings so far, shoring up the run defense seems to be a priority but we’ll see next year if that piece actually pans out for them.

Explain why they should do this “slowly”, and not quickly? Are you thinking they should eventually move even closer to the line? 4 yards, 3 yards, etc.?

Well apparently in Miami, you can murder someone after a game with plenty of witnesses around, cops identify the vehicle involved, speak with the owner, and yet no one is still charged.

This board would explode if Beane ever had a draft like that (Whitner, McCargo, Youboty, Ko Simpson, Keith Ellison). Silver lining is we landed Kyle Williams in that draft.

AB and Brittany Spears should hook up, THAT would be an interesting couple.

Ticking time bomb for them

Think trading Diggs and our 2nd rounder can move us up about 10 spots in the 2nd round. Which I’d say is a bigger loss to our team than gain.
