Except it drops from 58% in the first round to 26% in the 2nd round. If you need a defensive lineman, you basically have to get them in the first round.

Right, and the R2 DL success level holds  through R4 draftees.  Hence, if you are going to draft DL after R1, might as well wait until later R3 or R4, versus waste a R2 pick on DL.  That R2 pick is better spent elsewhere.

  2. Looks like DL performance doesn’t really drop off between R2 through R4.  In order words, unless you have a potential stud D-lineman, you shouldn’t really draft someone there until R3 or R4.

On the other hand, starting LBs drop off pretty quickly after R3.  Milano is somewhat a diamond in the rough.  The data would indicate if we’re looking for Edmunds replacement in this year’’s draft, we’d be smart to fire on that target early (R1 or R2).

really depends what they want.  Based on the Cooks trade, I'll guess that a 3rd and a 4th in separate years is pretty close

I'd give them our 2024 2nd if they eat a big chunk of his salary

I just don’t see the team spending a lot of assets on an older (albeit a HOFer) WR, trying to squeeze him into the current WR room, rather than look to draft a younger more affordable WR in the draft.  Diggs has been great, but age will likely start to catch up to him in the next few years.  Davis could be gone after this year.  The team needs to start finding longer term WR weapons for Josh.

im pleased with the two WR signings. Both are probably significant upgrades and I give Beane credit for these moves. But this receiving corps absolutely still needs a WR 2 and I think that means finding one in the draft. I too fear that they may be going in a different direction. Hope not. Given his size and speed I wonder if this guy can play on the outside. Seems to be a big slot with YAC ability.

Between signing guys like Beasley and Brown for the late season push and then Harty and Sherfield in the offseason, it’s clear the team was not happy with the production of guys like McKenzie.  Agree they need to find additional WR talent in the draft too.

I agree that he's gone, and I've already accepted the increasing likelihood that something bad happened.

Just so weird that it was literally his 10

year anniversary to joining the site, and for someone that was posting 30 times a day on average.  Am I making it up, or was he in the Columbus area?

  6. Beane:  Hey Von, the cap’s kind of tight, you’re coming off a torn ACL, would you mind taking a pay cut?

    Von:  You crazy man?

Beane:  You wanted to learn how to be a better GM, here you go.
