  1. Do we ultimately know whether it was Diggs or the Texans that pushed the restructure of his deal so that he’s a FA after this season? Reason I ask is there’s a lot of speculation that Diggs is gone b/c of his relationship with Josh, his potential decline in skills, etc. But did the move primarily come down to what Diggs wants from a contract perspective versus what the Bills thought was appropriate? For instance, the Texans must have known this tidbit when they traded for him, and been willing to give up a future 2nd round pick for a 1-year rental, right?
  2. The real you is back! 😂😂
  3. Agreed, he’s betting on his upcoming season to pay off for him.
  4. Jerry Hughes comes to my mind. Guy played through many drought years here and refs frequently ignored him being held. Wish we could have won a SB while he was on the team, although I could say that about any likeable Bill.
  5. To me it will come down to whether a WR that Beane really likes slips to within range. So like one of Top 3 slips outside of Top 10, or Thomas Jr is there within striking range and Beane really likes him. Otherwise, Beane would need to really love one of the other WRs to move up from 28 at all. And if he’s got like 2-3 guys graded late 1st or 2nd round, he could either trade up/down into middle of 2nd.
  6. I’m sure each GM has a way more complicated value reasoning system that our rule of thumbs are giving credit for, or at least they should.
  7. Right, but the pick is a year down the road, rather than in this year’s draft. The value of a 1st round pick in next year’s draft is worth less today, versus 1st round pick in this year’s draft. Give me $100 today, and I’ll give you the $100 back in 10 years w no interest. Sound like a good deal?
  8. In reality, it’s speculative. Obviously very much depends where the Bills finish in 2024. My understanding to get the value of a pick in next year’s draft, you essentially go back a round from this year’s draft. A 2nd round pick in this year’s draft is worth 270-580, depending on where one is picking. So if you think the Bills will be better than worse in 2024, their 2025 #1 is worth closer to 270 than 580.
  9. If we can move up to pick #4 with what OP proposed, that’s a steal and we should jump on it. Draft value charts suggest that should only get us up to about pick #11.
  10. If you know the team that Diggs is going to, you have way better odds of guessing the pick than 1/31 * 1/7. If you assume the pick is in either this or next year’s draft, then however many picks that team has in either draft (let’s say X), then without even knowing how to value NFL players, you have a 1/X chance. And if you have any sense of a player’s value, then you can likely cross off many picks as being an option.
  11. In my mind, Beane landing this extra trade chip essentially puts him in a better position to make a move, if one of the top guys starts to fall within a reasonable reach. And if that doesn’t happen, he has some ammo to move up in the 2nd round, if there’s a WR he really likes but doesn’t have a 1st round grade on.
  12. This is where my head is at on the move Beane just made. He might really like a couple WRs, maybe one would require a move up in the 1st round. Maybe some others could be had by trading down into the 2nd or trading up from the bottom of the 2nd. If he sees a few guys that can start to take Diggs’ place sooner than later, he’s at least gotten an extra trade chip now, giving him that flexibility to make moves that maybe he otherwise wouldn’t be able to.
  13. Maybe Beane just wants one of the WRs in the draft that is younger, faster and will be cheaper over the next 4-5 years, versus one of these older vets. Getting the extra trade chip gives him more ability to make a move to get a 1st or 2nd round target this year. He’s mentioned before that’s how they were able to land a guy like Josh.
  14. No doubt in my mind Beane plans to use draft capital from next year’s draft, in order to move up in either the 1st or 2nd round this year and draft the WR he wants. Question is who does he really like and how much is he willing to spend.
  15. When Beane goes out and uses this draft capital to move up in this year’s draft and snag a stud WR, everyone will be posting this gif:
  16. B. Trading for a likely late 2nd in next year’s draft and trading away some late round assets is essentially like getting a late 3rd/early 4th in this year’s draft for Diggs. With his cost and age, we weren’t going to get much more, and this is very similar to what Keenan Allen went for. I also am expecting that Beane will flip at least some picks from next year’s draft now, in order to move up and get the WR he’s coveting in this year’s draft. So I don’t believe for a second this move isn’t going to help the team this year.
  17. I would work him in slowly as a FG blocking specialist. There’s a rumor teams around the league are going to slowly start moving FG kicks closer to the line of scrimmage. He can be our secret defense.
  18. Can he drive fast and get into domestic disputes?
  19. Totally agree. We really haven’t gotten bounced from the playoffs because of seeding for a while now. Very easily could/should have won 13 seconds even though that was on the road. And then we couldn’t stop the run against the Bengals and Chiefs two years in a row at home. This year the offense kept it close throughout, but couldn’t pull it out in the end. Based on FA signings so far, shoring up the run defense seems to be a priority but we’ll see next year if that piece actually pans out for them.
  20. Think this board has started eating krayonz this weekend.
  21. Explain why they should do this “slowly”, and not quickly? Are you thinking they should eventually move even closer to the line? 4 yards, 3 yards, etc.?
  22. Well apparently in Miami, you can murder someone after a game with plenty of witnesses around, cops identify the vehicle involved, speak with the owner, and yet no one is still charged.
