Indy spanking teams like the Titans doesn’t worry me. Beating the Chargers caught my eye, but they also lost to the Rams and squeaked one out against the Cardinals. Given their schedule the second half of the season, I’d be shocked if the Colts finish better than 13-4. I don’t know that they have an easy out in their final 9 games and I don’t see them going better than 6-3 in that stretch.

Well there were 61 snaps by my count. It appears Benford, Bishop, and Thompson didn’t play the last two series, in which there were 7 snaps. Looks like Ingram came in for Benford at that point. That said, maybe there were 7 plays where both White and Hairston needed to be on the field at the same time along with Benford/Ingram, due to whatever formation the Panthers were throwing at them.

I think the defense’s performance was about as good as we could have hoped coming out of the bye and with the reinforcements in the lineup. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the defense.

I would guess no. Josh has probably learned to curl up in his favorite blanket for ten minutes as well, and also take a gentle pause.

Thinking that or Chargers at Titans. May depend on if one of those has a better matchup later on. Starts to get trickier now depending on what teams you’ve already picked.

I don’t disagree that Davis has been very underwhelming. If Gore were activated from the PS to take Davis’ roster spot, we’d have to waive Davis then, correct?

Heading into last season, I ran into a prior Buffalo Bills offensive lineman and asked him his opinion on reasons he was optimistic for the Bills. The #1 thing he said was the change from Dorsey to Brady, which he said helped the Bills running game immensely. I think there is evidence all over that the running attack is as good as it’s ever been for the Bills. That said, I can also see where the passing game leaves a lot to be desired. I just question how much of that is Brady’s fault versus the weapons that he’s been provided. Some are saying even with the lack of talent, he could still be employing certain concept, and the passing would be more successful. I don’t know, maybe that is true.

Would you have not hired him as OC to begin with then? Or fired him at some point? If the latter, when would you have fired him?

So if you were running the show, you would have gotten rid of Brady at some point already, and/or not hired him as OC at all? Just want to make sure I understand what you’re saying.

Yea, I listened to Greg Cosell like you requested. I think there’s a reactionary element going on right now because the Bills haven’t scored 30+ in two straight games. Cosell also doesn’t comment on the offensive weapons that Brady is working with, which I would argue could be contributing to the concepts being used. I agree the performance against Atlanta was about as bad as it’s looked, it was as if the offense had never seen a blitz in its life. We will see more tomorrow.

Well, we will see tomorrow if the Bills offense can get to scoring 30+ like they did the first four games this season, versus struggling for 3 games in a row. I think there’s some reactionary/panic at the moment because of the two poor showings. I also question how much of this less than dynamic offense is a function of personnel. Brady can only work with the players that Beane gets him, and I’d continue to argue Brady has generally been doing a solid job w the tools he’s been given.

Of course I’d love if the offense was never stopped and got a TD on every series. I don’t know what the fun fact of the play calling at LSU or Carolina has to do with anything. He’s calling plays here now and the offense has actually scored a lot of points under his direction, with a lot fewer turnovers than when Dorsey was running the offense. Yea, the last two games haven’t been pretty, but otherwise this offense has scored as many points as any Bills offense ever.

Yea, I do give him credit for a full 17 game season versus all the sudden saying we need an OC change because we’ve had two games in a row where we haven’t scored 30 points. Talk about a short leash.

Right, why would they be looking to trade a 1st round pick that they moved up for last season and he balled out in his rookie year? This doesn’t make sense at all. That said, if I were Beane and things checked out somehow, I’d be willing to trade solid assets for the guy. He was who I really wanted in last year’s draft and he’d be at least the 2nd most talented WR Josh has ever played with.

Right, it seems like they’ve been toying with their defensive looks and I don’t even think McD or Babich knows how it’s supposed to work, let alone the actual players. My bet is McD pulls back on some of the more exotic stuff they’ve been trying to introduce and goes back to more vanilla coming out of the bye. Didn’t the team bring in other defensive “experts” this year too? Seems like they’re trying to install different types of defensive packages mixed in with the traditional McD Defense, and nobody knows where they actually need to be.
