I was being a little tongue in cheek, as I totally agree with your take. When the Pats were winning Super Bowls, the last thing the league would want is for a crowned Super Bowl champ to be deemed a fraud. The league had a lot of incentive to turn a blind eye and downplay anything the Pats were doing against the rules at that point, because it would bring into question the entire integrity of the NFL. Now that the Pats aren’t winning, it makes one wonder if the league is quicker to punish them for their violations of rules.

I agree with you that Jags will be tough. Lawrence will be entering his third NFL season now and getting a weapon in Calvin Ridley. And Etienne will be second season removed from his injury. On the question posed by the OP, I’d prefer an easier to middle of the pack schedule, whatever ultimately would increase our chances to earn the bye. Unfortunately, I think we have our work cut out for ourselves this year.

Maybe I’m calling for 14 formation then?

I’d prefer Gronk instead, but if we landed Gronk and Ertz, maybe we could actually play some 10 formation.

This schedule is awesome. Bye week late in season when we’ll need it, right before we play the Chiefs too. Lots of primetime games as well. Definitely looks tough but let’s go!

Cobbs is washed up IMO, but Rodgers is going to have as good a surrounding team as he’s maybe had in his career. I’m thinking the Jets are going to be a different animal than a Tua or Russell Wilson led team. Hope I’m wrong.

If he weren’t feeling so tense these days, he likely wouldn’t have the urge to drive so fast. On the bright side, this should earn him a raise with the Browns.

Thanks for the thread. Given the new additions, I think you’re a little heavy in terms of production for Diggs, Davis & Knox, and overall TDs. With the new mouths to feed and younger players developing (Cook, Shakir), I’d see some of the vets’ getting relief in targets. But who knows, could open some of them up more instead! Will be interesting to see where Dorsey wants to go with this offense.

One thing I’ve always struggled to factor in is players aging. Early in a career, you hope that a player will see jumps in their play relative to prior season (a guy like Rousseau). At the other end of the spectrum, it’s not unreasonable to assume that other guys’ performance starts to trail off due to age and injury (Morse, Diggs, Miller, Poyer, Hyde, White, etc.). I’m definitely optimistic about the off-season moves, but one can’t just assume that all returnees will be able to play at the same level as last season as well.
