  1. While I can to some extent see why there are some who are glad we hired Rex I can't say I understand the excitement over Roman.
  2. "Who needs to buy a house? I'm the coach, I'll just live in here"
  3. I see it as quite the opposite, how do you think he's supposed to be an improvement? What has he done that gives you any confidence? I see the Niners as having a dominant defense who's offense time after time held them back.
  4. This is disappointing. Schwartz seemed to be settled in and I think he would have stuck around for a good bit of time as he already had his run at being a HC. We had a great thing in place with Schwartz and we just ruined it IMO. And all for a very suspect HC. Now if he doesn't work out we lose him and a really good DC.
  5. So, it was December 14th? As in after his game against us, therefore we can say our defense held him to a mediocre game when he was still at full strength?
  6. One thing's for sure, if Rex is coming to town, everyone keep you shoes on
  7. Just not a fan of expansion. I like having 2 bye teams and I just think it takes away from the regular season. When I look at this year, with 7 playoff teams, the Eagles would have made the playoffs in the NFC. I do think they had a season deserving of a playoff berth (especially considering the fact that they not only had a better record than the Panthers but the slaughtered the Panthers). In the AFC the Texans I believe would have made it. I just don't think they had a season worthy of a playoff berth. Again, I know Carolina didn't either but I just think 6 teams is usually the best number to include truly deserving and keep out the truly mediocre.
  8. Wow, we've been down longer than they have and we didn't even resort to live tweeting the comeback.
  9. So the discussion has come up many times around the NFL and on this board about expanding the playoff field to 7 or 8 teams per conference. While I am completely against expanding the playoff field, if Carolina surprises Seattle this weekend and even goes as far as reaching the Superbowl how do you think it will help or hurt any chance at expanding the playoff field. I'm thinking it could go either way. It could hurt chances as some might look at this and say if you add more playoff teams you're opening up the door for more teams who are mediocre and really didn't deserve a shot at winning it all thus taking a lot of importance out of the regular season. It could also help chances as the NFL might look at Carolina and think that if they were good enough more lower tier teams deserve a shot. I know Carolina is kind of a unique situation as they benefited from a soft division but there have been 8-8 wildcard teams as well.
  10. Agreed, miracles are wonderful, inspiring events. This does not qualify as such.
  11. I am glad but then I remember Buddy Nix talking about the Gailey hire years ago and how there were so many people "wanting this job". Obviously that didn't work out for the best as who knows how accurate that statement really was and who all these people were. But all in all I'm glad we are taking our time trying to find the best candidate. It makes me wonder if there's maybe a coordinator who's team is still in the playoffs who we are waiting to talk to.
  12. No Shanahans, please. Not even Mike. Take away his seasons where he's had John Elway behind center and his teams have done nothing.
  13. What really gets me is that they even called it PI then took it back. It's not like they threw the flag, discussed, then picked it up. They actually made the PI call then took it back. Can't recall ever seeing that before.
  14. Not sure I understand why Mike Pereira is saying that should have been running into the kicker on Detroit. Looked to me like he was clearly pushed into the kicker. I say good no call.
  15. Sad news and another grim reminder that life can be cut short in an instance. RIP Stu #StuartStrong
  16. There are probably some people who still think we used to have a starting quarterback named Ryan Fitzgerald.
  17. He did, but he also made 2 games winning field goals and basically beat the Packers and Dolphins for us.
  18. As much as I would have loved to have had Polian back if he's going to allow one disgruntled former head coach's opinions sway him then maybe we're better off without him.
  19. Dick Vermeil was out of coaching for about 15 years then came back and led the Rams to a Superbowl championship.
  20. I hardly blame Chandler for this play. Diving on that ball or any fumble for that matter would have been very difficult. This was squarely on Brown who had an easy TD run and let it get knocked out of his hands.
  21. Heck I'd take a road playoff game over a date with anyone at this point.
  22. At this point I'm ready to give any QB a try. Osweiler has played behind maybe the best QB ever for three years. You have to think he's going to want his shot at being a starter really soon somewhere and Manning could play for another 3 years. I wouldn't be opposed.
  23. Yeah, I see your point. It's nice that we get to play the Bengals next year as it seems like the Browns are the team we always draw from the AFC north.
  24. Maybe this time we can beat KC and Houston.
  25. Sanchez is a good option. He didn't live up to the #5 pick in the draft but he's an experienced player who's made it to 2 championship games and actually looked good at times for the Jets where QBs never succeed. I also thought he played well with the Eagles this year aside from the INT against the Redskins that basically ended their playoff hopes. It was the Eagels' defense that costed them this year IMO. Sanchez is constantly knocked for one clumsy play (butt fumble). Key word being ONE clumsy play out of the many different plays he has run in his career. I would be satisfied with him for the time being (I'd take Foles too).
