I don't think hardly anyone feels this way. In fact, I believe the vast majority of people already think Gailey is 10 times better just because he figured out that Fitzpatrick was a better option at QB than Trent. However, the fact remains, he has 0 wins and a lot to prove. After London Fletcher, the talent Jauron had to work with was every bit as sparse as the talent Gailey has aside from Schobel. Gailey still has time to prove he was worth the hire but, whether or not he does actually have a plan, as of right now he has done NOTHING to prove he is any better than any of our previous terrible coaches. BTW, people forget that in 2007 with all the injuries and the defensive players we lost during the offseason, even getting 7 wins that season was actually a pretty coaching job.

How great Clausen is isn't the point. The point is it would make no sense for them to draft a potential franchise QB two straight years. I would be stunned if they go QB with their first pick no matter who comes out of college.

Or, how about this, if we could have gotten Merriman earlier in the year, all that stuff would have happened, and we would have won the close games against Miami, NE, Baltimore, and KC, and we'd be 4-3 and one of the best teams in the league right now.

Our ferocious pass-rush vs the Bears' stellar o-line. What a battle that will be. Anyway, I think we'll get our first win of the season (and our first win ever in Toronto) this weekend. I have faith.

Bill Polian's last four drafts
Talley56 replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is like saying Peyton Manning threw some bad passes in his last few games. I know you guys really like him and think he's great but remember those few bad passes he threw. -
I knew this was going to happen, one game where Fitz didn't play too well and all of a he "sucks". He's had a handful of solid games before this. His numbers against the Chiefs weren't too much different from Peyton Manning's earlier in the year. Give him the rest of the season before you start writing him off.

But it's been more than one game. He looked good against New England and solid against Jacksonville (our defense couldn't get off the field in the second half in that one). And the offense has looked so much more like it has some life in it these past few games than it has in a few years. That doesn't mean it's a definite that he's going to be consistently good but it's some hope at least and it looks so much better than TE who couldn't throw the ball more than 15 yards.

I get that Buffalo doesn't get a lot of media attention especially after 10 years of missing the playoffs and starting the season 0-6. But I check espn.com after the game and our game against the Ravens is not even mentioned on the front page nor in the headlines where almost every other game at least had a link. I checked nfl.com and it's the same thing. I had to dig through espn.com before I even saw our game mentioned. It was not only the most entertaining game of the day but it was also one of the most entertaining games of the season and we nearly pulled a huge upset. How on earth was our game put on the back burner like that? I'm watching PTI right now and we weren't even mentioned until the e-mail session. Again, I know we don't usually get a lot of attention and quite frankly I like it better that way but come on, the Redskins-Bears game was on the front page and that game was a snooze-fest with mistakes thrown in.

Assuming you mean we should draft a QB with the #1 pick, Carolina drafted Clausen last year. I don't think we have to worry about them taking a QB if we end up with the #2 pick behind them.

Probably deserves its own thread

In about every game Fitz has played in, besides the Jets game, he has been impressive and competitive. I'm not sure why so many people say he's only good during junk time when teams are playing prevent defense. That is not even the case at all. And what really impresses me with him is he is passionate about playing and winning. You can just see it in him, he is always playing with more heart than most QBs and he's willing to put his neck on the line to win (though I wish he'd learn to slide on some of those QB runs before he gets his neck snapped). Even in the Jets game, when everyone else was done and just ready to pack it in, he was still playing his still doing everything he could to try to get some points at the end. It has to be frustrating for him when he leads the team on a scoring drive only to constantly see the defense go right back out and give up another score. It sucks hearing people who want to go 0-16 just to get the first draft pick. Do you really want to witness that embarrassment just to garauntee the first pick for a QB who may or may not be entering the draft this year and may or may not be a franchise QB? Don't get me wrong, if we can draft Luck, I'd like to do it, but for right now, I am happy with Fitz and I would really like to see where he can lead the team he had better support on defense. -
I don't know that every call went the Ravens way but there were two key calls (the Reggie Corner pick at the end of the first half, and Shawn Nelson's forward progress probably should have stopped the play before he fumbled). I will also say though that the Ravens could argue that, when we recovered the fumble on the kickoff return in the first quarter, Josh Wilson's arm was down at the time he got hit and therefore it maybe should have been considered down instead of a fumble.

If Fitz keeps playing like this?

This is a joke too right? -
Give me one thing that would make you happy?

Beating the Patriots. It's seriously embarassing to lose to a division rival this many times consecutively no matter how good they've been. It's almost reached the point of our winless record against the Dolphins in the 70s. -
I was enjoying it and I agree it was nice not to have to worry about how Buffalo will look today but I couldn't enjoy watching the Patriots win a game that the Ravens had won then gave up in the 4th quarter. Now the Patriots are a legitmate contender and the Ravens are pissed (as if next week's game wasn't already going to be tough enough for us).

Was there anyone in section 107 or 108 who saw the fight that was going on? I was a few sectoins away so I couldn't completely tell but it looked to me like it was two girls fighting and one got shoved down pretty hard. However, one of the guys around me thought it was a guy fighting a girl. Does anyone know? There could have been other fights (there was a small one near me) but this was the only other one I noticed.

Bills @ Ravens Tailgate 2010 Information
Talley56 replied to R. Rich's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know much about the city itself however if you like BBQ places and you plan on venturing out into the suburbs Andy Nelson's in Cockeysville is a great place to go. You should be safe wearing your Bills gear. Steelers and Colts fans usually get the worst of it when coming here, but Bills fans are usually ok. Just don't be a jerk. -
I will be there. I've never been to a Bills game and I've been wanting to go but I can never find anyone to go with (surprise surprise) so I will be going by myself but I am going to try one of these tailgating lots I keep hearing about.

Craig Patrick: You're missing some of the best players.

Funny thing is you can very easily say Trent possessed all of these characteristics. -
Talley's take on the Bills & the NFL player today

Wish I was around to witness his 5 sack performance against Dan Marino in 1983. I miss having guys like him, Bruce Smith, and Nate Odomes on defense. -
With Gailey being this PO'd today...
Talley56 replied to mike oxhurtz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are we ruling out the possibility that Gailey himself could be the problem (or atleast a large part of it)? I gotta say, I know it's only been 4 games and we haven't been good in a long time but I really don't think we looked THIS bad even under Jauron. -
who would you root for if the Bills left
Talley56 replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed, I am surprised and annoyed by people who would stop watching the NFL just because their team leaves. I would probably gravitate towards the Ravens if the Bills left but while I probably could never root for anyone like I've rooted for the Bills all my life I could never stop watching the NFL. -
The Trent situation was not handled well
Talley56 replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's a little extreme to say Chan cut his throat with this move. I completely agree with the move. We drafted Trent and tried to bring him along for 3 + years. Granted he never had a great offensive line but Fitzy looked solid behind that very same line. It was about time to let Trent go and start looking around for another number 3 who maybe hasn't had a chance to show himself yet.
