  1. The Bills have no star qualities. We are 0-7. Continuity be damned. This team needs a enemia! I would bring him in, in a second, with the understanding he is a big play player not our workhorse. My guess is he would want nothing to do with us. I bet he goes to Cincinatti, what a trio that would be.
  2. That pretty much is the same team that is 0-5 now. You want to keep Parrish over Evans. Whitner and Posluszny are your good players. Maybin is worth saving? Based on what you just wrote this team is on its way except for a starting QB.
  3. I completely forgot about this side and the answer to who's been responsible for most drafts since Butler left would be Tom Modrak. Yes he needs to be fired tomorrow. That would be my first move, he can take Green with him.
  4. Woods is being played back into shape so he will be fully healed next year. If we waited till next year he would have to get use to playing again then. This line did block for Fred Jackson today at 6.1 yards a carry. You don't see Woods getting penalities every game. Urbik comes in alot to spell Woods. A man who plays one of the hardest positions physically in the NFL comes back in less than a year from snapping his leg in half should get a pass. He is not the problem but a solution for the future. Wow!!!!!
  5. Whitner is not a bust, that is going to far. He has started alot of games in the NFL and can at least play. He were 2nd against the pass last year. We would bring a draft pick if we put him up for trade. If we released him he would be grabed in less than a hour. he has flaws and is best suited at free safety were he doesn't play run support. Busts are players like Maybin, Flowers who go in the first round but can't even get on the field then are cut in their 1st couple years of the original contract signed. Mike Williams was cut because he was too expensive to play RT at 6-7 million a year. I would take Mike Williams at RT over Green anyday, he just couldn't play LT.
  6. Yes the Bills are bad but they did score 26 points. Fred Jackson can play running back. Fitzpatrick is not terrible, he throws a few bad passes but did throw 3 TD's and had one of the best days for a Bills QB since Bledsoe. The real problem is this defense. Not sure about the DC but have to live with it till this team gets true 3-4 linebackers. I would start the young linebackers we drafted and left Kelsey and Ellis come off the bench, it can't hurt. I would change Green for Wang or Urbik for now. We would need a whole training camp to make all the changes you want.
  7. Can't trade Evans, who do we throw to now and in the future, another James Hardy draft pick. Evans is not the problem and the draft pick is worthless because you have no replacement now and would need to use that pick to replace him. Would that player be better than Evans, doubtful. Did you see the play to Evans today, you can't replace that easily. Whitner is good but not great, tradeable, we have extra safeties and DB's we could convert. Replace him and get a pick in the future to use for a O-line man, LB or TE. Think we could get a 3rd to 4th rounder for him.
  8. Well Trent went bye bye and we got a bit better at QB. Lynch gets traded and I would say Fred Jackson performed admirably when Gailey called his number. The results are better but we still can't win. The reason is there are still bad players playing on this team. We need to purge these players each week till this team stops committing penaties and starts playing winning football. My first choice this week would be to cut Green. I don't care who goes in there, this guy has a history of committing penalties. My next choice would be to trade Whitner for a player or draft pick. George Wilson is a much better player. I think both of these moves would address a change that should be significant enough to see change in the offense and defense. If we still don't show up for Baltimore than keep making changes. We have DT and LB's that need to be accountable, might look to see if there is any interest out there in Maybin. Some teams could be OK with a project. This season is gone and we need to see which players are worth keeping. Get rid of those players we know can't help us in the future now.
  9. I will agree the whole situation sucks but it started back when we drafted McGahee to replace Henry. As soon as a player didn't character wise fit the Bills and its fans the player has been replaced. CJ Spiller was drafted and Jackson was our best running back last year. With those cards played Lynch had to go. Just imagine if we kept Henry, Clements, Peters, Williams as RT, Williams the DT, Witner and used all those draft picks the past years to get QB's, linebackers, lineman were we might be. "POOF" dream over. This is were we are. Live with it. Hopefully things change if not my advice is find a fall back team to enjoy in the NFC. I am going with Philly as my second choice!!!!!!
  10. When Gailey and Nix were hired, Bills fans were suspious as they should be. We fans became even more anxious when Nix didn't draft a QB or OT in the 1st to 3rd rounds. Even worse was our big freeagent moves were not signing TO and signing another Raider tackle to a hefty freeagent contract. When training camp started they gave the job back to Trent Edwards and Jackson got hurt. How was this team to move forward with all the past problems still at had? Well after 4 weeks our wonderful Coach and GM are starting to realize the error of their ways. At least it was sooner than Jauron did. Our schedule didn't favor this team with 3 out of 4 games being divisional. The schedule this year is brutal except for maybe 4 games. We are now 0-4 and for all intenseful purposes not likely to make the playoffs. I am glad Trent was released and even glader Marshawn was traded. Our best backs were always Jackson and Spiller, starting Lynch made little sense to production for the future. Somewhere down the line I hope Gailey gives Brohm a try so we know what we have in him. Jackson should and probably will be our starting running back this year. Spiller will see plenty of carries for a rookie now. With that though, what is all the talk about tanking a season or trading away anything that is good on this team. First and forth most this team can ill afford to tank games, if they tried to win every game they might win 4-5 games. Having the first pick in the draft is not always the answer. A top pick often is a failure. I want us to try all our players to find the best we got and WIN. That is how you build for the future and find your best players. All I ask is players like Maybin should play now and if they don't get any better get rid of them. Don't settle, but teach the players that you drafted to play. Sitting on the bench doesn't cut it. I would rather watch Maybin screw up then Kelsey. In the end if they try to win and build for the future at the same time we might get 4-6 wins. We would still get very good players available. We need tackles and linebackers desperately first. Good luck Bills, to us fans hopefully we can find a little patients, Nix and Gailey I believe are starting to get it right!!!!!!
  11. This team has been 7-9 for 3 years, then last year went in 6-10 after firing O-coordinator and losing 20 some starters to IR. Why does anyone think this team is going 4-12 or worse. We have running backs that can play, our O-line was supposedly sucked for going on 11 years now. Are we going to the playoffs, NO. Benching Edwards was the right thing to do, it was proven last year when Fitz went 5-6 in games he started or played the most. The issue is why Trent was starting in the first place, I am just going to say Gailey made a mistake thinking Edwards had some upside everyone else got wrong. Even the late Bill Walsh endorsed Trent at one time. Levy drafted him. Lot of people made mistakes with this kid. Losman went through the same thing till jauron finally pulled the plug. The Trent Era is finally over. This team needs to start drafting right again in the top rounds or we will never get better than average. This team start with 3 tough teams to play, I expected us to be 0-3 after the 1st three but showing a better return in our offense. Maybe this week we will start seeing an upside. This team is still better than the Raiders, Rams, Browns, Chiefs, Lions, etc... We will be somewhere between 6-10 and 7-9 at the end of the year. I have history on my side and a roster that is pretty much the same and healther. One last thing for 10 years our draft sucks, two things that have remained here through that time is Wilson and Modrak, one we can get rid of and should very quickily, see ya Modrak.
  12. I am totally agreeing with you. I never made the point this team could be good at this point now. The Bills have drafted the wrong players with the 1st picks for a long time. Talent is the biggest problem on this team. What I am saying is this offense has no chance of success with the roster remaining status quo. My suggestion moves players to there natural positions and helps some young talents get better because of the move. Two players that are marginal get cut immediately. Brohm starting makes sense for this reason alone, Bills fans haven't seen him play much and he was top 2nd round talent. Playing under center with Woods should help calm him down since they played 3 years together in college. Brohm's biggest problem is his mobility, he has all the other tangibles.
  13. I heard that yesterday to. I believe he is ready to make that change now, his mistake starting Trent. Most of us knew Trent was done in Buffalo last year. My question is why does it take these coaches forever to make changes most of us see as common sense? You want to change the bad things this offense was doing last year, you have to also change some of the personnel. Adding Green, taking away TO and drafting CJ Spiller was their answer, WOW!
  14. Gailey has sat and done nothing to really improve this offense. The O-line has regressed and QB situation is worse than before. Top it off we bail from the run game to watch Edwards look like a deer in high beam headlights. Just sicking!
  15. What changes has Gailey made to this offense since last year that helped. Green was a mistake, cut him Monday morning. Bell isn't ready yet, we may have to go with him for now. Here is what we can do for next game with what we have on the roster now. I would do this so we build this line for the future plus shore up things for now so we don't kill all our QB's. Brohm in, Edwards cut Monday morning. Fitzpatrick stays 2nd QB, bring back Levi Brown as 3rd QB. Starting offensive line; LT Levitre LG Hangartner C Wood RG Urbik RT Meredith -Levitre played LT well for parts of 2 games last year and he started 21 games at LT in college, 9 as RT. Later in the season when players get healthy or some get better I would change this line to this. Starting offensive line; LT Wang LG Levitre C Wood RG Urbik RT Bell -Hangartner and Meredith can backup every position. Wang will need time and might need relief from Meredith at times. Bell should be stud at RT tackle but in a need sake Hangartner can go to RG and Urbik can kick to RT. Still have Howard for guard play if Woods gets hurt and Hangartner shifts to center. Woods was a great center in college and snapped to Brohm. Wang has alot to prove but also has alot of ambition and will to be successful for his home country China. His parents will drive him, he has a good sports pedigree from parents who were Olympians. Bell needs to heal more, than go to RT were he can and will be successful. Starting running back is Fred Jackson wth Spiller backing him up. Lynch gets traded and Bell comes back on roster. Starting recievers are Evans and Parrish, they have speed and Brohm throws long. Johnson will play 3rd receiver/ TE as a reciever. 4th and 5th recievers remain Nelson and Jones. I would have kept Chad Jackson over Jones. Starting TE will be Nelson, Stupar and Martin hold down fort for now. Offensive game plan built on running. Like wildcat with Jackson and Spiller, Jackson QB's. Alot can be done out of that package with speed of Evans and Parrish on reverses. Jackson throwing to Spiller, Evans and Parrish. I would go no huddle if you catch defense off guard in this formation. I also like shotgun with Jackson and Spiller on each side of Brohm. One can pick up blitzer the other can get a draw or screen pass and of course we can go long to either Evans, Parrish or Spiller/Jackson in space to run.
  16. The point being made here by this board is we all can think of many position and players we would have selected the last two years with the number 1 picks who would have made this football team better than we are after two games this year. If we are sitting here waiting 2 years down the line and that is the goal than maybe Spiller and Maybin turn out to be fine players. I would have picked in 2009 Orakpo or Cushing, my bet would have been Cushing. We needed a linebacker/pass rusher, not a fan of picking a one year player who didn't start at the beginning of the season. In 2010 it would be Davis or Bulaga, having lost Butler so suddenly I would have taken Bulaga to start right tackle. I would have found a serviceable LT with the 2nd round pick. Ducasse was available and was a very good tackle at U Mass. This guy has all the tangibles and is good at pass/run blocking. He could have started for the Bills. I do like the Wang pick for depth. Also OK developing Bell (father is Karl Malone, good athlete). The third round I would have selected Colt McCoy. We needed to try something better than drafting one in the 7th round. My offense would look like this; Starting line LT Ducasse LG Levitre C Woods RG Hangartner RT Bulaga. Everything starts here, we are running the football. Starting QB would have been Brohm with Mccoy backing him up. Fitzpatrick would be the 3rd QB in case of an injury to Brohm he would start next. McCoy is in a total learn mode and needs reps at the end of games only. Starting running back Fred Jackson with Lynch backing him up. If Bell was in camp he would have made the 3rd running back. Starting WR's would have been Evans and TO if he would have signed. If not it would have been Parrish. Johnson isn't ready yet but would have seen alot of time. If Easley was picked I liked him also, raw talent. Starting tight end would be Nelson when he came back, that hurt. Stupar is not the answer, I would have drafted someone with the mid-picks in 2010 also. Don't tell me this lineup wouldn't be better than what we are starting today. Mainly the O-line would be greatly improved. We could start Brohm and Jackson this year and faired better than Edwards/ Spiller or Lynch.
  17. Another reason why Spiller shouldn't be starting as a rookie. Here is Chan Gailey's comments about Spillers's running Sunday. "He was trying so hard and he went so fast that he wasn't letting things develop in front of him," Gailey said of Spiller. "He's got to realize that he's got that gear, just let it develop and then hit that gear. He'll get better as time goes on" That was in the Democrat and Chronicle in an article by Sal. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20100914/SPORTS03/9140328/tbd CJ is not ready yet!!!!
  18. The man had a losing record as head coach. They weren't!!!!
  19. Fred Jackson started out in the slot as the 4th reciever, not the featured running back. Gailey named Spiller the starting running back, are you really trying to argue this point. Fred only came in to run the ball when Spiller was putting up 6 yards in 7 carries rushing. For 4 carries that count, Fred averaged 4.75 yards a carry, he had one 6 yarder called back from holding. Fred averages 4.6 yards a carry for his NFL career. Are you trying to argue if Fred had more carries he wouldn't have kept that average up. Gailey screwed up by not staying with the running game. He screwed up by not running Fred and Marshawn more. As the game went on he could give Spiller a few more touches to see if he could get going. The point I was making from this post in the beginning is Fred Jackson was the Bills MVP and 1000 yard rusher with a 4.5 yard per carry average last year. Most fans in this post act like he is a bum on this team. Fred deserves alot more respect than most people on the Bills boards are giving him. He deserved to be the featured back and if Spiller plays better as the year goes on the change can be made. Fred has been around for a while and is a successful NFL running back. He would out perform Spiller this year and 80% of the backs in the league with 16 games starting. We lost the game because we quit on the run. We lost the game because Trent, once he gets hit, loses confidence and checks down to short throws on every play. We lost the game because Spiller couldn't knock off a run in 7 tries and went to the bench. This all falls on Gailey because of the choices he made on offense. No one commenting on Fred's missed pass or any other comment gets the big picture. Fred did nothing but run for 1000 yards last year in 9 starts, was the 2nd leading reciever with 46 catches for 8 yards a carry and had 1000 kickoff yards for 24.5 yard average. That is a pretty good year. Running backs counted for 6 of 19 total TD's scored, Jackson had 4 of them. When Fred started last year we won five games. The head coach/offensive coordinator failed last year to put the Bills in a good place and start the proper people (ie.. Lynch), hence our record. Gailey did the same thing this year not utilizing his best players. Same results, we didn't win!!!!!!
  20. He took two long snaps from center in the Wildcat formation and made good plays. On his rushing carries he averaged 4.75 yards per carry and had a 6 yard called back. You want to insist he was hurt still and couldn't play because he dropped "One" pass. Try it was the first play of the game for him and he had seen little game action since last year. Were does the play for him show he wasn't healthy enough to be out there. I am thinking maybe your a tade byassed and have a love affection for fantasy football. I will take Jackson over Spiller any day of the week THIS YEAR. I will be proven right. I have been giving good stats to prove my point for Jackson. You keep bring up one dropped pass. Ah, so 3 carries for 13 yards adds up to 4.3 yards a carry. Yeah I see your point that is better than 4 carries for 19 yards at 4.75 yards a carry. How did I miss that much impact!!!!!!
  21. Oh yeah, Spiller made alot of great plays. That pass could have been caught but wasn't well thrown. So one missed pass and Freddy is worth nothing. The guy did break his hand 5 weeks ago. Bet you wouldn't man up after that and play that game.
  22. So a 1000 yard rusher in 9 starts with a 4.6 yard average means nothing. How is it his fault Lynch came in on short yardage situations. I don't remember Jackson missing TD's. He wasn't given the chance. The Bills often went to the pass in goal line situations. That was what everyone was upset with. I am not saying Spiller won't be good some day but even Thurman Thomas today said he would rely on Jackson before Spiller! You know best, have more blog replies than me.
  23. I see, so you think 6 yards on 7 carries for 1.27 yard average is better than 4 carries for 19 yards for a 4.75 yard average and this warrants Spiller more carries in a game. Maybe if you finished reading my post you wouldn't have put up such a ridiculous comment. You would than have realized how good Fred Jackson is and stopped salivating on the fact Spiller was a 1st round pick, 9th over, all making 5 million a year. It doesn't matter one bit if the Bills are losing football games.
  24. What was Chan Gailey thinking picking Trent Edwards and CJ Spiller to start. First off preseason stats mean nothing. Last years stats for the year mean everything. Fred Jackson after the first 3 starts last year was 4th in rushing and 1st in all purpose yards for running backs. By years end he had a record that put him 4th All Time in total yards gained by a NFL player. He started 8 or 9 games total and had these accomplishments. Trent Edwards was benched and out perfomed by Ryan Fitzpatrick, but not neccesarily by wins. CJ Spiller was in college. So in his infinite wisdom Chan Gailey starts Trent and CJ. Is anyone really suprised what happened yesterday. Heck if we had rebuilt the offensive line I might understand. This line is minus RT Butler starting last years. It has alittle more experience but 2 players are coming back from major injuries. Two players last year (Jackson and Fitzpatrick) were effective despite all the O-line injuries, wouldn't they have faired better yesterday. We are not building for the future by playing CJ Spiller. If anything we may hamper his progress by hurting his confidence behind this line much like Trent Edwards. Fred Jackson doesn't have a confidence problem and wants the job, he is down right pissed at Bills management for seeing the bench. Yesterday all he did was run 4 times for 19 yards, thats over 4 yards a carry. He had two good runs out of the wildcat, one that got called back because of a hold by Levitre. Fred looked good in the wildcat, looked in control. Given more chances in a close game Fred would have come through, he always does. This is a no brainer decsion that lets me know this staff has no real clue were it's talent really is. Fred didn't play much for Chan to see, he needs to watch more game film of him. Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't afraid to sit in the pocket and can scramble. He is not the most accurate QB but is capable of the big play. Yesterday could have used that in a very close scoring game. Trent is opposite of Losman and Bledsoe, he gets rid of the ball too quick. Yesterday when there was no pressure on a few pass plays, he still checked down. He often rolls out of pressure the wrong way also. He has little feel in the pocket. The results were predictable and no different than last year, check the Cleveland game. Trent got very lucky he wasn't picked off 2-4 times. This came very close to being a blowout. If CJ and Trent continue to start we will go 4-12 or less, not because CJ isn't any good, he is a rookie. We are not going to the playoffs but we could win 7-9 games with Fitzpatrick or Brohm handing off to Fred Jackson then Spiller. Fred has proven himself for a couple years and definetly last year, shame he was benched by Jauron. Gailey showed little confidence in the run game by running 4 out 12 plays to start game, 1st 2 series had no runs and were 3 and out. Also 4-5 WR sets at this point to start a game was not being tricky but truely stupid. Gailey truely hurt Trents confidence since he was sacked twice in 2 series. Lets hope Gailey is a fast learner, this could be a long season if he isn't!!!!!
  25. I am adding Tony Hunter to this list. In 1983 he was selected ahead of Jim Kelly with the 12th pick of the NFL draft from Notre Dame. We lose Kelly to the USFL and this guy lays an egg. That was the start of our consecutive 2-14 seasons. He ends up having 2 very medicore seasons with the Bills and 2 with LA Rams. Only had 1 full 16 game season with 50 receptions, that wasn't with the Bills. That's very low production for a 1st round pick at 12. Jim was our 14th pick, imagine if we had a better pick at 12. We missed out on Willie Gault, Henry Ellard and Roger Craig also two players who became Bills later on in Jim Jeffcoat and Leonard Smith. Might have won a Superbowl in the late 80's, we will never know. http://www.nfl.com/players/tonyhunter/profile?id=HUN812853 http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HuntTo00.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarterback_c..._1983#Round_one
