Who do you want for a veteran qb?
USABuffaloFan replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Aaron Rodgers was a career backup, so was Steve Young to your definition. SF is making Garoppolo that man. Alex Smith has become that man. Cousins has become that man. Your wrong. McCarron was drafted by Cincy as insurance and future. Maybe trade collateral. -

And with that statement who will just hand out starting job to him. Tell me a team you know will give him starting status? -

Guys like that are hopeless and depressed. So he doesn't like our LT's, Incognito, Groy, Benjamin, Clay, Lawson, Holmes, Kyle Williams, etc.. I admit we need upgrades but this is a young team with 8 picks. One QB from 2-3 more wins. Maybe the guy should get more sun and vitamin D3 and move to Jacksonville. -

We won 9 games, were in on 2-3 more and if we had a QB would have beat Jacksonville. That was without a passer and sack people. Just not seeing what you see. Oh by the way we have 6 picks in the Top 3 rounds with one of the 3rd's being the 1st pick. that is 4 picks in the top 60 picks. -

Why is McCarron a career backup. He was a top QB coming out of college winning I think 2 Championships. If Buffalo had drafted him I think people would have been very happy. See no logic in your statement. Cincy did not want to lose him, court ruled against on free agency status. Until Dalton's huge throw, McCarron calls were very often called out in games. -

Can't be just him and rookie QB. Need a stable veteran. Moore and him or have it out with McCown and him competing. -

Buffalo is really the only team that can go for Cousins and not jeopardize their team this year. They have crazy money to fit all this in next year and are loaded with 6 top picks to draft all needs. Buffalo has enough cap space this year to sign Cousins and only Cousins if wanted. Do a 6 year 180 million contract with 40 million signing bonus and a roster bonus of 30 million next year. First year of salaries is low with 10$ this year, signing bonus goes over the 6 years. Next years cap space takes the largest hit with Roster bonus of $30mil, $20 mil salary and $7 mil in signing bonus. We have a project cap available at $80 mil so $57 mil can go hit that. The last 4 years of the contract are $20mil each. with $7 mil signing bonus attached. $27 mill average is cheap by then, cap will be well over $200 mil. Averages $30mil with 1st year getting $17 mil but paying Cousins $50 mil, 2nd year counts $57 mil but pays $50mil, that is the guarantee portion of $100mil. Last 4 years all even with cap hits of $27 mil but $20 mil paid out meaning more cash to sign our free agents. Buffalo keeps all picks so in 4 years we can pay our guys. We still have $10-15 mil to fill holes with cuts after draft and camp. Cousins isn't worth $30/mil a year but Taylor isn't worth $18 mil either. Fitz wasn't worth the $15mil. Cousins can throw, we have McCoy for 2-3 more years, probably next year will be his peak with a good line. Go for it!!!! Why not we have 8 picks NOT TO WASTE! Moore would be better if mentoring is the objective. We need someone who can play possibly the first year. I am of a different thought. With 8 picks we can draft starters and backups with 6 being in 1st three rounds, 3-4 of them will be starters. Play this smart and we can win now, compete for division and Super Bowls. Go for broke sign Cousins and Watkins. Play it a bit smarter. Sign McCown and Bridgewater and have it all out in camp with loser being backup. Draft every pick, don't move. Get a QB in 2nd or 3rd round for project. Let Peterman go. -
Really who cares! Outside of Kyle Williams all are replaceable with 8 picks in draft. If Kyle wants back offer him a 2 year deal for $20 mil. $7 mil signing bonus with $3 mil salary this year and $10 mil next. We have cap space next year. He doesn't play next year salary not owed and only counts $3.5 against cap. Kyle makes $10 mil for 1 year. No too Brown, no cap for this and we have 8 picks. No. He is a Bill and will be on the wall. Buffalo has the money, we have 8 picks and set money to spend on that for 4 years. That is almost half your starting roster in the future.

Your forgetting about the legal rights of Washington. That is why they allow negotiations before signing in this free agency, to stop this nonsense. They won't have 3 QB's next Wednesday. -
New Mock Draft AT (After Tyrod)
USABuffaloFan replied to billsbackto81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In this scenario then your accept getting JAckson or Rudolph and if he falls awesome. I am Ok with this because I think the best thing Buffalo can do is keep the picks. I have a dark horse trade that happens soon before the draft though. Indy decides they want to draft a QB of the future and tout they are taking a QB at 3. This either gets them stock to trade pick or lets league no Luck is available. At that point Bills do the unexpected. The highest a franchise QB has been traded for is two 1st and a 2nd for Cutler in his prime. Only Cleveland can beat Buffalo one this front without wiping out this draft. If someone else does that who cares. I would go in with a package strong for Luck, our 21st, next years 1st, one of our 2nd's and our 3rd pick. Indy could rebuild immediately with a new franchise QB and Buffalo can immediately compete with NE for Division and playoffs still having a 1st a 2nd and a 3rd pick. why would you not do this! Why would Indy not do this. Luck has 4 years left at 80 mil and is 29, no way Indy competes next two years. Irsay is mad Luck sat last year, a new path is needed. -

Rather have Jackson, another CAM, groom him. He is not EJ. This boy can run too better than Taylor. If Bills like 2 of the 4 QB's and they are there at 4 move to get him, period. This won't happen if Bills get McCarron, Foles or work some crazy trade and land Luck. I think this is possible and we stay with picks. I can see Buffalo giving up 21, next year 1st, 2nd pick for Luck. I also can see Foles for a 2nd and next years 2nd if Luck can't be had. This would allow Buffalo to do what ever they want with their draft still. If Luck can be had we are a Superbowl team. Indy needs picks and picks next year to get back. They can grab their QB with the 3rd pick. There is a deal to be made here that rivals what happened in 1986. If Miami doesn't then they remain at the bottom for years. Their backs are against the wall, that is why you force the issue. If they beat you make it hurt real bad. Bills lose out they still get a QB and have allot of really good players drafted still. Either way make Miami pay! -

If you don't go to 4 Miami will, no way Cleveland go's for a CB at 4, not when they can be reasonable and get multiple picks. Give the Raiders deal to Cleveland with 1 more pick. I would give 21, next years 1st this years 65 back and a 4thpick. That leaves us with our QB and a 1st, 2-2nd's and a third still. Why wouldn't Cleveland take that instead of a CB. If Miami or someone moves in keep the 65 and give up 1 of the 2nd rounders. Still will get good players this year. This trade will have to wait to see what the Top 3 picks are but I would be ready for this GM Beane! Allot can happen before then, we have the picks now. Get the players, you won't need as much help next year with 80 million to spend in free agency. -

If this was the scenario with Top 3 picks and Cleveland at 4 took a CB that would be dumb. No way they would not work a similar deal with Buffalo that was made for the Raiders. It would take probably giving back also the 65 pick but if Buffalo really likes two of the Top 4 QB's the price is worth it. That would land the guy we like even if it still is Mayfield. I think they would go with Darnold who has huge upside if he is groomed. That would mean Buffalo brings in a Bridgewater, Bradford or Moore short term. Evans is the guy at 22 also, Huge need and McDermott needs his QB on defense too. That is fine but Groy has 1 year left on contract. Groy also can play guard so you go for Price or the guy from Iowa who both also can play guard and then you have great depth. If Buffalo doesn't move Glenn in a trade he goes to RT, who cares about the money. You have a cheap LT right now. Now you have a crazy OL with depth. -

This would be tampering, plain and simple. if this came from inside Vikings camp and actually happens then Vikings would lose picks and get fined. -
Beane: "I have no intent to move up or down"
USABuffaloFan replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now that Taylor is traded we know one thing, Bills need a QB. So really it starts Wednesday to see what Veteran QB Bills go and gets. If it is someone like Moore than they are drafting one high. If it is a trade or a top name from free agency then Bills most likely will not draft high for one. Bills made the first move so speculation they need one is gone! -

USABuffaloFan replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He does have a direct connection, Saban. Amazing how people forget all these players played for someone. McCarron has a record, mostly college but better than any QB that is in this draft. Bengals did not want to lose him, went to court and got ruled against. I would take a chance at McCarron before any of the QB's in this draft. He has been through a few NFL training camps also, sat behind a Bills savior QB with orange hair, lol, played in preseason games and did very well in games he had to come in on. McCarron would not be a bridge QB, you would sign him to be your QB of the future or you don't sign him. -
Case keenum the vet we bring in?
USABuffaloFan replied to GoBills!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Foles had a good year in 2013 under Chip, had a good year last year under Reich. Foles has a contract that is not a starters contract I believe for 2 years. Keenum is a freeagent and very well could be more expensive. If Foles retired it would only be because he didn't have a contract, he will not be retiring now so mott point. -

USABuffaloFan replied to GoBills!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If healthy I would rather have Bridgewater, would play for a short term contract. Foles has numbers like that in 2013. He also has a Championship, better playoff record and a Superbowl MVP. Foles will be cheaper since contract has 2 more years at decent numbers. -
Ferguson won a few games and had Joe Cribbs RB and went to the playoffs with him, Ferguson was a 3rd rounder I believe. Frank Reich as backup for Bills did as well at QB as kelly did in games, he had Thurman Thomas. Your blanket statement is not correct. You need both to win consistently or have one of the best QB's of all time. Few have them so having a Top 5 running back allows Taylor a shot at the playoffs, allows a Foles a Superbowl. We will see what it is all about. I don't think Whaley last year past on Mahome for Buffalo to get 21st and 22nd round picks. I don't think Beane will give up 4-5 picks for a QB that is no guarantee to be a NFL QB. I do think Beane will get a veteran to be the Bills QB next year for his HC, not a rookie. I KNOW for sure Buffalo needs 4-5 positions just as bad as QB, thankfully RB is not one of them.
