Rather be in our position than the Redskins?
VADC Bills replied to AllDayADay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last years Redskins looks like this years Bills in the preseason. Very lackluster and they had trouble scoring. The difference is the Redskins have a we want to win now attitude where the Bills have a we want to win someday attitude. Other teams feel that they can totally turn it around in a year. Where the Bills feel that it will take at least 3 years. This was the first preseason game under a new system for the Bills. Just as the Redskins. The difference is talent, on the field as well as coaching talent. Don't fool yourself the 3 lineman, Poz and Kelsay are not difference makers, they are very mediocre at best. But the Redskins had defensive starters playing into the 3rd ie Riley, Haynesworth. I expect the Bills to show better but I also think the fact that Chan figures he can get TE to be a big league QB puts the Bills exactly where they were last year this time. The Redskins knew that they had to get rid of Campbell if they wanted to win so they got McNabb and Grossman both looked better than any Bills QB. Both have taken teams to the superbowl. While the Bills have been complacent on QB talent. I feel the Bills will eventually field a better team but it doesn't seem like the urgency is there. The Redskins are in a better position if winning is the goal. -
I was impressed with Whitner's play. When I saw him make the hit it reminded me of a hit Henry Jones put on Hershel Walker years ago. When is the last time you have seen any of our LB's make a hit like that in a real game..Madden 2010 or 2011 doesn't count. This was the secondary 1st game in a new defense, I expect them to get better.

Do you need to risk Spiller in preseason?
VADC Bills replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spiller has to get adjusted to the pro game. This can only be done by playing so I would clearly have him play in the preseason. He needs to learn to hit the holes quicker as well as running the routes in the receiving game. The Bills need to see how he reacts to getting hit. Will he be a fumbler? Once he establishes himself as a first string pro player then he can enjoy the frills of being the starter but until then he needs to take some snaps. -
Let the Levi Brown experiment begin now!
VADC Bills replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would love to see Brown play with the 2nd team. I agree let the Brown experiment begin. He clearly had the best arm of any of the Bills QB's. He seems to be a pure passer something we haven't seen in quite sometime. -
All of the Bills rb's had there moments. They all looked very good. Lynch looked like his old self. Bell looked very good. The line seemed to create opportunitites for them.

So far from what I have seen, the look just like the Bills of last year except for the secondary and special teams doesn't look quite as good. I realize it is only the preseason so I won't get to upset Trent looked just like Trent has been looking fior the past few years. Why does everyone realize we need a new QB except for Chan and Buddy?

10 greatest players of all time...
VADC Bills replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You forget the early days when most black players played under death threats especially when on the road. The other points were hypothetical but if we are dealing with the facts, what are the facts regarding Bonds because last I heard there were no eye witnesses..thats fact. Bond biggest problem is the media didn't like him so he is guilty. Maybe maybe not but no one has proven it yet. Its always great to compare players from different era's because arguments can never be fully proven. I agree with Ruth pitching assessment. He started out as a dominant pitcher. But that was the time when players started corking bats..other players did question Ruth's mighty 36 oz bat. -

The changes I would recommend would be. 1) Jim Brown 2) Jerry Rice 3) Joe Montana 4) Johnny Unitas 5) Deacon Jones 6) Bruce Smith 7) Lawrence Taylor 8) Reggie White 9) OJ Simpson 10) Dick Butkus -

I'll take Bonds. Ruth was dominant, clearly the best of his day...just as Bonds, but players are much bigger, stronger and better now. The competition has evened. It's like saying Wilt was the greatest basketball player because he was the most dominant well that was because he was the only 7 footer back then. The competition has evened. You put Bonds back in the Ruth era and he would dominate. You bring Ruth into today's baseball, he would not dominate. Ruth never had to play under the death threats that Bond or Aaron had to as well. -
Surprising especially on the heels of Easley's injury. This indicates that coaching feels our WR's have tons of potential.

Trent's confidence is soaring & he has become more vocal
VADC Bills replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What your saying is only partially true. Our line clearly needs to improve. But I remember hearing the same thing about Rob Johnson. Rob would be much better with a good offensive line but when Flutie got in the game the OL seemed to play a lot better. Why did the line seem to play so much better for Flutie than Johnson...They didn't it was the quarterbacking. I think you will find the same to be true hear to a certain degree. We need a better line no doubt but with a qb that can make the quick read assess his open receivers and get rid of the ball that will make the line look much better. -

VADC Bills replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hopefully this means he will be more confident in his ability to assess the receivers on midrange to deep patterns. This is the real issue with Trent thus earning him the name Captain Checkdown. Trent is basically the same player he was in college. I want to see how his game is maturing. I have not seen that yet. How will his confidence be after he gets rattled? -
I can see why people are quick to bury Maybin
VADC Bills replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let show this guy the same patience that you have given to players like Poz (who we gave up a pick for) a 4 year player that people are hoping for a break out season with a new defense. If we can be patient with mediocrity such as Poz we can be patient with Maybin. Personally I would stay away from Penn St when drafting future players. Takes them to long to adjust to the pro's and they just don't deliver. I don't see Whitner as being in the same categories as the other player you have named because he is very good against the run..better than any LB we had last year. But your right He would have been a great 2nd round pick up. -
So when should we show appreciation.....Are you one of those fans that after a good play or touchdown you remain in your seat emotionless as if your reading the Wall Street Journal, if you are that's cool just don't rain on someone elses parade. Don't get me wrong I don't want to see fans cabbage patching and doing back flips but clapping is ok. If a player gets burned in training camp that should be a sign for him to step his game up. So keep clapping and be glad we have some thing to clap about.

Who's the first Buffalo Bill selected in Fantasy?
VADC Bills replied to Chinstrap's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It will be Jackson since he did well in total yards last year. -
The Haynesworth saga continues
VADC Bills replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Problem is that Shanahan is in a pissing match he can't win. Haynesworth has already been paid, what if he doesn't pass it. Will Shanahan cut Haynesworth to prove a point...hell no. Is Shanahan going to bench arguably the best defensive lineman in the league....hell no. He is going to back off his stance and play him. Shanahan needs cut the BS and condition him off camera and get him practicing with team. Keep in mind the check has already been cashed. -
Darrelle Revis skips the start of training camp
VADC Bills replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Comical.....let me play devils advocate for a second. What would you do if you were Revis ... considered a top 5 player coming upon a year where there may not be a cba agreement? A hold out may be overkill but a conversation with Jet management would be in order. Lets face it if the Jets aren't willing to pay its best player what type of message does that send to the rest of the team. How would you put more money in your pocket...endorsements maybe? -
The Patriots may be in trouble but its nothing that a dose of the Bills twice a year can't cure. I'm sure we will find a way to give them a game or two.
-
I'm a little more patient than you. I don't consider Lynch or McKelvin misses. They both have showed that they can be good in this league. Remember two short years ago Lynch was the only one on this team that played with heart and made the probowl. I don't consider him a bust because I don't like his off field antics. I don't prioritize the character because every SB champion has had people of questionable character. Whitner should not have been the 8th overall pick but he is solid against the run and a productive player and the safeties are clearly the best unit that we put on the field but you are correct he is not a high impact player but who on our defense is? I lump him in the same category as I do Kelsey, Poz, Williams solid players trying to step up from mediocrity. Maybin I haven't considered a bust yet. This year will let me know what direction he going in. McCargo is a bust plus when you consider the fact we gave up a pick to move up to draft him makes it even worse.

[closed]Wood Says "Give them some money back!"
VADC Bills replied to drewfla's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to agree with this post. It's not like we are talkng about two probowlers here. Keep the business aspect off the field as most players would advise. As a huge Bills fan its nice to see some fire from this team early. I don't consider Maybin a bust at this point and most analyst will cautiously say the same. At the same time most analyst consider the Bills offensive line pathetic. My advice would be for Maybin to start delivering some hits against the opposition like he is paid to do. As well as for the offensive line to start blocking some defensive linemen or a blitzing LB for a change like they are paid to do. None of the guys are good enough for me to start hanging on their jocks. Until they do, they both sides need to return some money back to the fans.....With that being said it was a good line. -
Hangartner fight with Maybin
VADC Bills replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 It finally nice to see some fire on all sides. Hopefully it will carry into the regular season. I'm not choosing sides ready to trash one player over another because where I stand as a Bills fan, every player on the team needs to give back some of the money they earned last year. Hopefully Maybin and the entire offensive line (as well as others) will start playing like the pro's they are paid to be. -
This is an accurate assessment. Haynesworth is the only DL player to have to do this so already you have to say WTF. Don't get me wrong Haynesworth needs to be in better condition based on last year. Basically this is because Haynesworth missed OTA's. This tactic by Shanahan is just as BS as Haynesworth holding out and more transparent. Something I would expect from a high school coach who is trying to send a message. This type of thing only works with rookies not players that are probowlers and have won defensive POY awards. Could you imagine Wade doing this to Bruce? Lets walk through this one. Haynesworth doesn't pass conditioning test are the Redskins are going to bench him? Keep in mind Haynesworth has already collected 21 million. Is Shanahan willing to bench Haynesworth all season to claim victory in this sophomoric pissing match...no. Both sides should stop the BS and start getting serious.

In Case you were wondering why we drafted Spiller 9th
VADC Bills replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think your reaching quite a bit here..these guys aren't rare. I was one of the ones that was hoping we would pick CJ. He is the type of good player the Bills always let other teams pick. He reminds me of Thurman. He is a mini beast. -
Never liked the white helmets. I like the ones they have now...just put some metalic paint on them. Everyone has different taste I guess

I believe it was Nix he was talking to. What stood out to me was his emotion when making the comment. You don't see that type of emotion from him during the press conferences. It was refreshing. I agree that Wood should be at the center position as well.
