The front office has taken the year off when it comes to building the team. They have done this under the guise of saying you build through the draft. Well you build through the draft as well as free agency. When people are available that fits your need, you go after them. Nix is looking extremely over his head when it comes to building a team. I expect nothing will be done in the offseason outside of the draft, who can trust these guys to draft the right players.

McDermott on thin ice in Philly?
VADC Bills replied to Lintyfresh85's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So far defensive coordinator candidates for next year potentially could be Sean McDermott, Mike Singletary, and Wade Phillips. I guess the question is, which one would you like to see here. -
When you get a chance to look at the play again. Notice Corner's elbow. Everyone was looking at the feet. I saw the right elbow hit in bounds. Was it just me.

Do we have any players that should be extended?
VADC Bills replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could extent all of them but not at starter money. We haven't been able to stop the run ever since Poz has been here and we know how he defends the pass. He is not a starter talent, a backup at best. Offer him backup money. Whitner I would extend but not at starter money. He is the best hitter on the team. Plays the run solid but not very good in pass coverage but worth keeping. I like Florence I think he is solid as a number two CB but not worth the crazy CB bucks we have seen in the past. Youboty could be the odd man out but seriously how much could he be asking for...he should be the easiest one to sign. If they all want be paid like starters don't hesitate to let them all go. They are to easy to replace. -
I believe Davis started making the calls in preseason because he had better handle on the defense. Davis seems to have better instincts than Poz in the middle. I don't think Poz impresses the coaches as much as he does his fans.

Are we really going to let Poz become a free agent?
VADC Bills replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't worry, Poz sucks. There is no doubt in my mind that Kelsay will need some one to suck with. They will lock him up I'm sure. I wouldn't get attached to any LB on this team. Some where along the line you have to make a decision...do we want to stop the run or do we keep Poz. The last name goes a long way with some Bills fans. The fact of the matter is, he couldn't hold Conlan's jock strap. -
Is Poz a cornerstone?
VADC Bills replied to Buffalonian-at-Heart's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
H#%LL Yes, The sooner we stop fooling ourselves that he is any good the sooner we will get better against the run. I think Poz would make a good back up but starter? Think of back ups we have had in the past..Crowell, Holecek, Bailey, Radecic can you honestly say Poz is better than any of these guys? A true cornerstone player will make players around him better, not the other way around. -
It's his last name. It works well in Buffalo. If he could hit like Whitner like he is supposed to, RB's and tight ends would not abuse him on the regular. He should be benched on 3rd down plays. Every game he gives up a touchdown.

Keep it going Nix....Im with ya!

Kelsey and Poz should be next. -
I think Chan just put Edwards on the hot seat!
VADC Bills replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gailey should put himself on the hotseat. Nix,and Brandon should be there with him. Have we had any good years with Brandon? They sat idle during the offseason doing nothing to improve the team. Now they want to put people on the hotseat???? I gave Nix and Gailey the benefit of the doubt during the offseason. I thought they could turn the team from a 6-10 team to an 8-8 maybe 9-7 team. Now we are the worst team in the league. An azzwhipping from Detroit will make it official and crush any hope I have left in this team. Dick Jauron kept us more respectible (I didn't think that was possible). Maybe Nix and Gailey's ego made them feel that they could win with the existing team. It seems as though they are in plan B mode without a plan. This is the first time since the 80's where I honestly don't know if we will win a game. How else do you end a week that starts out by giving one of your most below average players a huge pay raise. Sometimes it takes effort to suck and by what we have seen this week, we now know they are trying to secure mediocrity for the future. -
I would keep Whitner. He will take a shot and make a hit. Whitner was not worth a #8 and Poz certaining not worth trading up and losing a pick for. I would keep Whitner way before Poz. I think he a better tackler plays the run better and more reliable from week to week. In the NE game Whitner was the only one hitting. Poz over runs plays, get run over by opposing RB'b or TE's and never makes the tackle at the point of impact. Neither can play the pass and none are worth keeping beyond the rookie contract. Maybe I should start a thread Poz vs Whitner...then again why waste anyones time.
-
If Buddy and Chan really want to get rid of the dead weight Poz would be next. I think some one in another thread talked about Whitner being a bust...well what about the Poz and Maybin Penn St connection. Lets face it, I have seen gay guys hit on football players harder than they do. No offense to the gay fans.
-
Why couldn't being good this year be the goal? Are we waiting for Buddy and Chan's Geritol to kick in? Are they waiting until 2012 to collect their paychecks?
-
So far they receive a failing grade. Like a student that has not studied for an exam it doesn't look like they have looked at any film from last year to understand how to prepare for this season. There is no reason they couldn't have started the building process where their record could improve but you have to know your weak spots and address them in the off season. They haven't made any moves to make this team better. Not trading away existing players doesn't count. We all know that Trent sucked but they had to see it for themselves. Didn't they watch the tape from last year? How long will it take for them to realize our offensive line and LB's are among the leagues worst. So far I'm not impressed but the season is young and I have to give them the benefit of the doubt. I just don't agree with the win later attitude when most teams have a win now attitude.

To All Jason Campbell Lovers
VADC Bills replied to daveydanceswithwolves's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone that lives in the DC area could have predicted this one. A lot of fans on this board never saw him play, they only look at stats. Campbell is a nice guy that happens to suck at QB...Sounds familiar. I take my hat off to Nix and Gailey for not pulling the trigger in this one. The problem is they haven't pulled the trigger on anything. So the fans are stuck with another year of evaluating players. Which seems to be a key piece to building a playoff team in the future but not for now. -
Lets take another look at A.J. Hawk
VADC Bills replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah ...the same way Holcomb, Losman, and Edwards would strike fear into opponents. Just keep in mind in order to strike fear into someone you have to be tough and good and willing and able to smack the hell out of some one. Lynch hits harder than both of these guys. (insert your own weed joke here). -
It will be years before this team is competitive
VADC Bills replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We could be competitive next year if the team had a win now attitude. These guys don't care. We will have to wait for the next regime before we have a winning philosophy. The Nix/Gailey Old Boy experiment so far has made Dick Jauron look like Vince Lomabardi. Believe it or not I believe that the team was more competitive under Jauron. Our present staff is not looking to make their mark in football history, they are looking to retire with money in their pockets. We need to get some smart young hungry upstarts who are looking to win. By the way get rid of Russ Brandon he's a loser as well. -
Nix was here last year so the shortcomings of the team should have been no surprise to him. When he was named GM I felt that he should have had more of a plan than we will build through the draft. All other teams are not just waiting for the draft to build they are utilizing all options. Nix has not showed the aggressiveness of someone that is trying to build a winner for now. To waste another year trying to make TE a QB. Not outting any effort into improving the O line. I have to question his approach. I will lay off for now. Lets get a couple games under his belt and see what the team does.

Interesting Rumor on BB.com Message Board
VADC Bills replied to coastalpika's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Poz all but gave up the first touchdown. Awful in coverage. Maybe you didn't see Fasano burn the hell out of him and now he is hurt again. They are both great white hopes. -
Chad Henne and Mark Sanchez are two reasons the Bills will finish 2nd in the AFC East. These guys are so overrated.

6 safeties, 3 QB's, and only 8 offensive lineman???
VADC Bills replied to sharper802's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm surprised that we haven't done more in regards to the offensive line. There have been opportunities to upgrade during the off season. Ellison is being kept for two reasons. Special Teams and the fact that he is the best LB against the pass. Last year before he was hurt Ellison was our leading tackler. There is value there plus when you factor in injuries to the starters we need depth at the position. Lastly the success of the receivers will depend on Trent Edwards development...Scary but lets hope for the best. -
Maybin - stat line says 2 sacks 3 QB hits
VADC Bills replied to sharper802's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was impressed with how Maybin looked because I wasn't expecting much. There were times when Maybin hit the ground and was handled but there were times where he use a spin move very effectively and got off of blocks effectively he was usually around the ball and was pressuring the QB frequently. He has developed a dip move as well and has excellent speed. His leverage is getting better. This was against both starters and scrubs. He is going to be a good player if he continues to develope...not a bust (although I love calling him one) just not a first rounder. I was probably most impressed with Arthur Moats in a year he will be a beast. He will be our best MLB. -
Will the Bills make the playoffs this season ?
VADC Bills replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Two reasons why the Bills have a chance at the playoffs or at least 2nd in the division. Chad Henne and Mark Sanchez. The Jets and the Dolphins are quite beatable with these guys at the helm. I think we have a real shot a finishing second in the division. Many our OL is the key. Opening holes and giving Trent time to throw. Our defensive front 7 is bigger but our LB's are soft at the point of attack. Led by two extremely soft Penn Staters. If our OL and LB's can step up we should be very competitive. I don't think the Dolphins and Jets are that much ahead of the Bills at all. Not sure will that put us in the playoff hunt if at all. -
Foxsports sleeper pick for this year
VADC Bills replied to Damian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me state this right now and I will swear by this all season. The Raiders will not be a playoff team for one huge reason.....Jason Campbell. Trust me if he was good QB he would still be in Washington. Campbell has two huge faults that free agency has over looked. - He can't read defenses..he is a nice guy but his processor runs slow when reading defenses. - He doesn't win. Has never been a .500 QB. He will make the stupid mistake constantly. To take his team out of the game. He is a coach killer. Cable beware. So before you categorize him as good because of 4th quarter stats when they were out of the game. You need to have a clear understanding who this guy has been for the last 3-4 years. -
I was wondering when someone was going to comment on our LB's. During the Colt game I noticed on the first series how everyone went right at Poz. Manning to Addai in which Poz was beaten badly. Manning to his TE in which Poz laid a hit on him only to have the TE run through him and the Addai TD run in which he broke an attempted leg tackle from Poz. Mitchell replaced Poz soon after. Other teams know where our real weaknesses are and they go right after it. The 3-4 exposes weak LB's. Lets not fool ourselves as much as Sullivan may get on your nerves he called this one dead on. I think Mitchell is solid but not spectacular but he certainly does not deserve to ride the bench behind Poz. Davis seem to be a solid hitter so far and understands the system. Maybin isn't ready but he does have some potential in a Penn St type of way. Give him another year he is a project certainly not a first rounder but thats what we are stuck with. Torbor and Davis will be the LB's that deliver for us this year. Scary.
