Lots of teams get tough schedules every year, some of which is dictated by the team's results from the prior year, so the Bills getting a tough schedule this year isn't surprising. However, it appears the Bills got an extra dose of difficult. Their most difficult non-divisional games are on the road (Dallas being the exception), a game overseas with the Bills being the guinea pig of Goodell's London scheduling "experiment," and a late bye. The one bright spot was the early season Miami game being in Buffalo rather than Miami like last year. I don't know how much human input there is in the schedule making, but it seems the Bills got the short end of the stick this year.

Week 9 thread - We’re on to Cincinnati
IronyAbounds replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Given the Bills' somewhat uneven performance so far this season, every game seems extremely important, but this week seems especially so. Still facing road games at KC, Philly, LAC and Miami, with 3 losses already on the board, the Bills' margin of error has narrowed heading into Game 8. Plus, it's a conference game and the Bills have already dug themselves a hole with 3 conference losses. I just hope the 10 days between games allows the Bills to be as healthy as possible and afforded the coaching staff sufficient time to dial down on how to beat the Bengals. Hopefully last year's drubbing by the Bengals really incentivizes the Bills and they avoid their recent 1 quarter blues. -
Or have a life and watch less football.

After nine games, where do you think the Bills end up this season?

At the beginning of this sports year, I did not have the Yankees and Bills missing the playoffs and the Arizona Wildcat FB team making a bowl game on my bingo card, and yet at this moment those three things are very possible. -
The Bills are Going to Miss the Playoffs

Bills have gone from Conference Championship loss to two Divisional rounds losses to what is at best a Wild Card team or even no playoffs. How are people going to react if the high point of the Josh Allen era was three years ago? -
Except his shoulder is banged up. It's hurting his consistency and would only get worse if you start running him intentionally. That's the conundrum with Allen. Not running takes away his superpower, but running damages what he needs to be able to consistently do, which is make accurate throws.
-
9-8 is the most realistic record given the schedule ahead (losses to Bengals, Eagles, Chiefs, Chargers and Dolphins). Don't think that's gonna make the playoffs. Team isn't exactly headed in the right direction.
-
It could be that Allen's style of play just isn't sustainable over a long career. He has to run to be most effective and he keeps getting banged up with injuries that aren't enough to keep him out of games but hurt his performance.
-
I hate to bring up another issue, but the Bills, already banged up, including Allen's shoulder, have to play on short rest Thursday. This could easily turn into the season from Hell.
-
I agree Josh gets far too much of a pass on this board, but I think the shoulder is a material problem. It's affecting his accuracy and limiting his ability (or desire) to run.
-
Dorsey isn't the only problem. Allen's shoulder is a problem for a couple of reasons. First, Josh clearly isn't as accurate as he needs to be. Second, he isn't running anyway near as much as he has done in the past. Take away Josh's running, he is an above average but not elite QB, not to mention the Bills' receiving crew as a whole is mediocre at best.

Not just starters, but 5 of the best starters. Plus Miller is active but essentially useless. It isn't surprising they couldn't get a pass rush today. Not to mention the CB situation is dire. McD has issues as a head coach, but this D is terribly undermanned due to injuries.
-
The Arizona Wildcats are a better college team than the Bills are an NFL team. Did not have that on my bingo card at the start of the football season. Turn out the lights people, the season is essentially over.
-
Miller hasn't done anything when in. He clearly is not the old Von Miller.
-
I think they thought the pass was thrown before the center got too far downfield. Not sure if it was a good call or not but hey, the Bills got quite a few calls going their way, so it wasn't the refs' fault today.
-
Unless some of those changes involve miraculous recovery of the best defensive players, its not going to help.
-
Sigh, it sucks to be a Bills fan.
-
Oh well, it's been a good run.

I just want a win, I don't care how ugly. Worry about some of obvious problems later.

NY Giants @ Buffalo Bills - SNF 2nd half game thread
IronyAbounds replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Because it was a bad throw. He was not under that much pressure and he short-armed it. Just because I don't go to bed sniffing Josh's jock doesn't mean I'm a "so-called fan." -
C'mon, what should have been an easy throw was badly underthrown. Josh is not perfect, and it was a worse throw than a bad catch.
