  1. His overall grade on all the QBs was an incomplete, while suggesting Mayfield has shown the most promise of all of them, which in my view is likely an accurate one. Allen's scrambles have been impressive, but as Barnwell notes that is not a path to long term success in the NFL for a QB. The other point that he makes with respect to Mayfield is that he seems to have been helped immensely by the change in play calling, while noting that Daboll needs to help Allen more in that regard. I'm not sure any one of the 5 will end up as a real franchise QB, but it's going to take time before anyone who isn't a fanboy or a detractor of any of them can really make that judgement.
  2. At this point I'm not sure who is more delusional, those who think Allen is a franchise QB, or those who think Allen is a bust. The jury is still out and we should expect a lengthy deliberation.
  3. It's not the uniform but the standing Buffalo that gets me stoked. That's just personal to me because that's what they had when I lived in Buffalo and went to games. I'm also more of a traditionalist and prefer the classic looks. The standing Buffalo, the lightning bolt for the Chargers, the old Oilers' oil rig, the Raider's insignia and the old Pats helmets are simply the best. It pisses me off that the Titans didn't allow Houston to keep the Oilers name like the NFL did for the Browns. But that's just me.
  4. Is the Pope Catholic? Does a bear ***** in the woods? You know the drill. I thought the Bills giving up less than 200 yds and losing by 32 was a record, and it was. Another record was Peterman's yards per catch for QBs throwing over 30 passes. It really takes a talented front office to conceive an offensive squad this inept. Kudos to McBeane.
  5. Never understood why the Bills traded Lamonica, lol. Actually, Kemp was viewed as a winner and there was no reason to think the Bills would collapse in '67 like they did. Btw, Kemp's stats in '67 were Petermanesque. 43.6% completion %, 14TDs, 26 INTs. Anyhow, with respect to the topic at hand, tanking doesn't necessarily accomplish anything. Look at the Browns. Even the Rams had to go through 3 tank like seasons before finally emerging with a good team. You need a good front office and there is nothing thusfar that suggests that McBeane are the ones capable of doing it. Botching the QB situation like they have done doesn't help the team a bit in the future because nothing was done to help Allen be a better QB next year. Homers have to rely on a tanking/rebuild theory because it's the only way to survive this year's debacle.
  6. EJ was picked in the first round because he physically looked like a stud franchise QB. The jury is obviously out on Allen, but I sincerely hope he doesn't end up in the same category. Peterman is just the giant blimp size advertisement for how utterly inept this organization is. I suppose you can argue it's an elaborate scheme to tank, but that is almost too obvious an explanation, and in any event, if it is tanking it's being done poorly since the goal is to be no quite so obvious. People talk about how difficult it is for the Bills to get quality Free Agents to come to the Bills. Obviously it is even harder to get any quality front office personnel to come to the Queen City either. Just a damn shame.
  7. Jesus H, how many teams have 129 yards of penalties, less than 200 yds total offense and win 41-9. What an abortion of a game. We thank the Pegulas for saving NFL football in Buffalo. What was on display today was not NFL football.
  8. If anyone connected with the Bills expected this team to be this bad they should be fired. It takes a special kind of incompetence to put together an offense this monumentally awful. This was even more unexpected than the Spanish Inquisition.
  9. Now its 41 points and under 200 yards for the Bears. The Cardinals have been making a play for worst team in the NFL. The Bills this week: Hold our beers.
  10. just wondering how many teams have given up 34 points while holding their opponent to under 200 yards. That has to be some sort of record.
  11. As bad as this front office is, and I'm pretty certain they are in the bottom five of NFL, the people hiring the front office, i.e., the Pegulas, are absolutely clueless about running a football team so in all likelihood anyone they'd pick for the front office won't be much better. I'm not sure there's anyone with even a smidgen of competence associated with the Bills at this point.
  12. With this front office, I'm not so sure.
  13. Bills Fans: Sticking with Peterman was the dumbest thing McBeane could do. McBeane: Hold our beers. Edited to ask: Isn't it the case that teams can go after any player on another team's practice squad? If that is correct, then I have to believe any practice squad QB would be better than Barkley.
  14. The entire organization is just inept. You almost have to purposely screw things up to get a clusterf**k of an offense like this. They completely mishandled the QB situation and now you have guys who wouldn't be that good in a college game having to work with offensive talent that on its best days rises to barely below average. At this point the Bills are becoming like the old St. Louis Browns, perpetual doormats who never seriously challenge for a championship. Whether its the owners, the GM, or the coaches, there simply is no talent in the front office, which means there is less than adequate talent on the field. It's depressing as hell, and the rest of the season is a complete waste of everyone's time. Just awful.
  15. Or perhaps just the crankiest. I must admit I still have the program from the first Bills game I attended in '62 against the Broncos and I still have incredible love for the old AFL. I also met Daryle Lamonica when he was a rookie and lived in the above the garage apartment of a friend's house. Imagine that today, a rookie in the NFL (or any major league) having to live above someone's garage.
  16. It isn't rude, it's old school, and I'm in agreement. There should be one uniform for home and one for away. The colleges are even worse. It's football, not a damn fashion show.
  17. I'm not mocking anything. I'm just pissed that McDermott kept Peterman around because of his Faith. I don't care how many players thank God after a win for His help, God doesn't give a rat's ass who wins a sporting event.
  18. Not to be picky, but the glory years actually started in 64, with that year and 65 ending in championships. 66 was a heartbreaker as the Bills just missed out on making Super Bowl I. I know 64 well because we moved from Buffalo in the summer of 64 and since the Bills won in 64 I thought maybe we were the problem (my dad and I went to the Bills-Patriots playoff game in a very cold War Memorial in Dec. 63 and had to witness that loss personally). Anyhow, those were the glory years of Buffalo football in the sense they ended the season with a win and a championship.
  19. I wish just getting the right QB would do that, but without a decent OL and decent receivers it's always hard to tell. In any event, the FO completely botched the QB situation this year so any cannons that are armed and ready to fire should be aimed at the FO and McDermott.
  20. Bryan Cranston in Saving Private Ryan had a better arm than Peterman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWJ4HRy8kcU
  21. Unfortunately for the Bills, and Allen for that matter, at this point it's Deadman's Curve. For some young QBs who are closer to a finished product experience by playing may work, but for someone so far from being ready it is more likely to make it less likely that he will be able to develop into anything. I don't think they are doing him any favors at this point.
  22. They're emboldened from getting Trump elected. The thought is they had done the near impossible with Trump's election, so now they're trying something superhuman and getting people to believe Peterman can be anything other than a punchline to a very sad joke.
  23. It appears that many people are cutting Allen considerably more slack than they did Manuel, who in his first year looked much better than Allen. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the offense assembled this year by McBeane is historically bad, but it isn't entirely clear how much of the ineptitude is due to the QBs and how much to overall lack of talent. The 2013 receiving corp, while not as bad as this year's bunch, still wasn't exactly a stellar group of studs. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Bills' fans just don't want to admit the FO screwed up yet again.
  24. What you have described is the real reason McBeane need to be excoriated. Mahomes sat out a year and it obviously did him a world of good. KC also had a year to improve its offense in other ways so when Mahomes did start he had a stronger supporting cast. The Bills did neither. They have created a situation were Allen is clearly not even close to ready but is starting, and the offense is incredibly shaky in almost every other aspect. Organizational ineptitude couldn't be better illustrated.
