2019 Mock Draft already up...
starrymessenger replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. Yes it is. We are much better at defending the pass than we are at executing the passing game. So if you have an opportunity to pick another CB even a good one, and the guy who is likely to be the # 1 receiver in the draft, you should ..... [insert your answer here]. -
2019 Mock Draft already up...
starrymessenger replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, so pass on Harry to take another CB. Not happenin. Because it's a passing league. -
IMO Rodgers can do anything Brady can do as far as working from the pocket is concerned. Brady does not have Rodgers mobility (including his ability to make any throw on the run). So I think Rodgers is the better QB, has a more diverse skillset and is less the product of a system (albeit the most successful system in recent memory). They are both great competitors.

Maybe just me but I don't see the point of what this lady is saying. Why not just leave it as an acknowledgement of his having planned and called an outstanding game?

Agreed. And may he fully enjoy his well deserved success. From what was being said about him last night he seems to be a great kid, smart and highly motivated. And he may have a future In some capacity as a QB in this league. He may even develop into a legit starter. Or maybe not. We certainly haven't seen enuf to even begin to know. So let's not get ahead of ourselves. The physical and intangible qualities he put on display yesterday are hardly unique. All of the plays the SFran offence executed so well yesterday were scripted, the QB knew exactly where he was going with the ball before the snap, independently of pre (he did not audible once) and post snap coverage (not that it wound up mattering against a D specializing in just the right blown coverages). He did not once go through progressions. This is hardly surprising given his raw rookie status. What we saw was a very well thought out and executed gameplan managed in part by what KS understood to be what this kid (and the rest of his O) was capable of doing and nothing more than that. It tells us very little about how he (and it) would perform if for example adjustments were required because the gameplan was not working and the QB was under pressure to be the difference maker. He looks to have a decent arm and to be reasonably accurate with it. Most of his throws were relatively easy although a few (including one redzone toss good for a TD to his TE) were actually very good. JMO but I wouldn't trust Tyrod to have made those throws, but then Tyrod is not really much good in the passing game.

I derive no pleasure in seeing players go down with injury, whether they are Bills or opposing players. These guys work too hard for too long to make good in a narrow window of opportunity. But if I guy looks to injure another player, Gronk on Tre, Landry on Williams, then I'm fine with playing with intent to take that guy out if and when you get the chance. In fact I think it's the right thing to do.

Can WR separation be coached?
starrymessenger replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good route runners get separation. Route running can be taught (and therefore learned). But it's also a talent and ability the components of which some guys are blessed to have more of than others. It is a large part of the art of wide receiving, especially at the NFL level, and when it's done well it's nice to see. -
How bad are we making our receivers look???
starrymessenger replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I interpret you to be saying that our pass catchers would probably look (and perform) a lot better if we had an elite passer under centre. Sure Arod and a good OC could transform this receiving corps such that it would be unrecognizable. Not saying that they would be great, the top shelf talent is not there, there would still be drops, but the passing game would have to be taken very seriously by the opposition as a threat (rather than as an opportunity). -
Ed Oliver or Greg Little?
starrymessenger replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No doubt Bills need OLine help (amongst other things) but I'm a little wary of passing on a player like Oliver (or Bosa) to take a highly touted OT. So many highly drafted OTs disappoint or flat out bust. It seems like a very difficult position to project with any confidence. I get that the Bills have lots of holes to fill, especially on O, but to me if you have the chance to pick a defensive player who clearly projects as elite and may even be a generational talent you run to the podium IMO. -
Is our defense actually good?
starrymessenger replied to uticaclub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They aren't just good. They are great! But only every second outing. The rest of the time they aren't so good. So they have the wherewithal to play at a very high level but they need to be more consistent. But of course that's hard to do when they get no help from the offence. They would be that much better if the O was actually capable of at least holding its own (which it can't). More first downs and time of possession would be great, but apparently we can't have any of that. McDermott and Frazier know what they are doing on that side of the ball both with respect to scheme/adjustments and evaluating talent as evidenced in the draft. You can't win with 1\2 of a football team but the guys deserve a lot of credit for their effort on D, especially given their weekly gut busting suicide missions. -
Well Luke Keukly was only 21. And Edmunds has not been the player LK was his rookie year (either before or after he took over at MLB). Somebody asked whether Edmunds was better than Ridley and #65. Ridley is legit as a #1 receiver IMO so the answer to that question is not obvious. Edmunds has all the physical traits, like Allen, but there is lots of room for needed improvement in his case too.

Reggie Ragland trade a win for Buffalo
starrymessenger replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought he might have been ok in Chiefs scheme. Obviously he can't cover but they run a base 3/4 with lots of nickel and dime coverage mixed that could maybe make up for his deficiencies in the passing game. Could it be that is what Chiefs were thinking? -
Report: Bills have discussed trading KB
starrymessenger replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He could definitely help a WR needy team (possession/red zone) looking to make the playoffs, assuming a team with a competent QB/OC. He's obviously not motivated to play here and could be used to better advantage elsewhere. A 5th could be a reasonable expectation IMO. -
Bronco's cut Chad Kelly
starrymessenger replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree the Bills won't touch him. Dont know how good we are tho. More like good to go to the Division basement for a while. -
Bronco's cut Chad Kelly
starrymessenger replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've seen maybe 3 or 4 of his college games while at OM. Like others I've also seen a little during preseason. Looks to me like he can play and could have a career in the NFL, though obviously he would have a lot to prove just with respect to his ability to compete effectively at this level. He looks to be crazy tho and I have a hard time seeing Coach cutting a choirboy to make room for Lucifer in the flesh. As others have said signing him could create a risk of bad chemistry what with all the challenges Allen has to deal with already and Kelly's volatile personality. Always sad to see someone who is a waste of talent. -
How and Why The Bills Could Win Monday Night
starrymessenger replied to Kevin1778's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We will win because the Pats have won so much they're tired of winning.
