  1. Josh and his O pretty much did what I expected (I predicted 35 points). I’ve been ambivalent about the D all year but I truly believed that they would step up enuf to get a few stops so that we could outscore KC (knowing that Mahomes was going to get his share of points). Needless to say I have a hard time finding excuses for what seemed to me to be coaching errors in the last 13 seconds. I’m really eager to see how KC does now going forward. Bengals have a lower rated middle of the pack D and will be playing the same venue. If they outperform us I will be inclined to conclude that there is something wrong with our coaching on that side of the ball, either philosophically/scheme wise or possibly even talent evaluation wise.
  2. They are both great obviously. Maybe it’s the homer in me but I just don’t think Pat would have had the game Josh did running the Bills offence yesterday.
  3. I wouldn’t blame anyone for liking the Chiefs. They are a really good team and they are playing well on both sides of the ball right now. On offence they have adjusted very well to the two high safeties look and in using their secondary offensive weapons. On D they have gotten Jones back and so are better leveraging Clark. Getting Ingram was a good move imo. I still think their secondary can be challenged, especially Sorensen who is used on passing downs and I believe saw the majority of defensive snaps versus Cincinnati. When it comes to the Bills and specifically Josh Allen I think the views of many talking heads are reliable - but as lagging indicators. They are for the most part behind the times. This board is generally a much better take on reality than their opinions. There are of course some commentators out there who are more up to date.
  4. TBH I look at the franchise a lot differently than I did during the drought. IMO it’s amongst the handful of better franchises top to bottom.
  5. We’ll actually Kurt has always been slow to give Allen credit, though he’s finding it more difficult to do so. But that’s nothing more than an empirical observation. Frankly I could care less.
  6. Maybe Kurt Warner is reluctant to give Allen his due because Josh steals some of his thunder. Going from bagging groceries (or working on a farm) with total disinterest from the football world to elite status is supposed to be only Kurt’s story. I don’t want to believe that but I think it’s possible.
  7. This is Allen’s big opportunity to shine and imo he will be up to it. Chiefs are better than they were early on, but the Bills are totally peaking at the right time and have more momentum. They also know that they are capable of beating the Chiefs having done so earlier this year in a blowout. After Josh brings home the championship the talk will be all about whether he is the consensus greatest player in the game.
  8. If Joe Burrow can shred KCs secondary behind a terrible O-line so can Josh Allen behind a better one. Even more so imo.
  9. I agree. I see Bills overall as favoured to win. in looking at the Chiefs recent outings, Steelers were clearly a weak hand and an easy out, the Chargers would have beaten them if their coach wasn’t a bonehead, they barely beat a Drew Lock led Broncos team, and Joe Burrow (with a big assist from J. Chase) completely carved up their secondary. If their front can pressure Allen and force him out of the pocket the game could be competitive but our o-line has started to gel. Not only has Allen had more time in pass pro but the run blocking has improved with a scheme better suited to skill sets and with Singletary functioning effectively as the lead back. KC will now have to defend against the run and that should also translate into more time for Allen especially on early downs. Give Allen time in the pocket and he will destroy any D with his arm. But even if Reed, Jones, Ingram, Clark overmatch our O-line and force Allen out of the pocket, KC still needs to contend with #17s escapability, his ability to improvise in the passing game or rip off big yardage as a runner. We won’t shut down Pat Mahomes, but I think we outscore them.
  10. Not imo. The strength of the NE D is/was their secondary. Its better than the Chiefs’. Allen/Dabol dismantled it. So advantage Bills. Plus there are guys there to pick on ie Sorensen. So if the Chiefs front plays well, which they are doing now, I think it’s still pretty equal. If our O-line is again up to it Allen and Daboll will do to KC what they did to NE, so between 40-50 points. Give Allen that kind of time and he’s unbeatable. I’m really interested to see what Spags comes up with. Please. I guess you didnt see all the uncalled Chief holds against Steelers. At home at Arrowhead the refs should be the Bills’ concern.
  11. Most see next Sunday night as pretty much a 50-50 proposition. For sure it’s the biggest matchup of the playoffs so far and a treat for all football fans. To me it could well boil down to how well the Chiefs D-line is able to play, Frank Clark, Jarron Reed, and esp Chris Jones. If they are unable to bring big pressure on Allen the percentages swing big time 70-30 in Bills favour.
  12. The guy also has a very good motor and pursues extremely well. Bills have faith in their ability to develop their draft choices. He and Rousseau as well as their two mammoth offensive tackles will become mainstays imo. Bills are maybe 3/4rs of the way to building a league dominant team. They may focus on skill players going forward.
  13. Not entirely true either. D is capable of coming up big and being a difference maker. No guarantee that they will but imo they can. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if they shut NE down.
  14. I’m not going to attack you but I’m sceptical regarding the claim that he’s fast. Blocking has improved and maybe that partly accounts for him seeming to hit the holes more quickly. What impresses me the most recently though is his toughness and ability to break tackles and move the pile. Don’t recall him being this physical in the past. Hes a good back but he still looks to me to lack the extra gear. I think you can see that when at the second level/open field. If he had that he’d be a really good back, maybe a borderline franchise guy. Not complaining. The Bills look to have found something of a ground game which is a good thing heading into the playoffs.
  15. Bills a pack of ravenous dogs. Wilson a hamburger uniform.
  16. McD punishing McKenzie because of muffed punt in 1st half. Stupid.
  17. He was perhaps not really in a position to have regrets but we all saw Bill hug and whisper a few words in Josh’s ear after the win in NE. Bill isn’t an exuberant personality given to hyperbole. Like him or loath him the respect he showed #17 is surely one of the most meaningful of compliments that he has ever been paid to date. Of course anybody who had a realistic shot has to regret not drafting him. People have for years speculated regarding his ceiling, really to no purpose given the lack of evidence and the many uncertainties affecting a player’s (especially a QBs) development. Suffice it to say that we now know that his ceiling is to become the greatest active player in the game. Is he there yet? Nope. But he could well be on his way.
  18. I think Josh saw the field quite a lot his rookie year (12 games). I was one who argued in favour of sitting him because he was obviously raw. I was wrong. I think he could have started earlier but I don’t think that would have made much of a difference in terms of his progression and that he’d be pretty much in the same place today. I rather tend to think that if he had had the benefit of developing in a big school program he’d be further ahead even now.
  19. I agree with you, sort of. I think they are a good base nickel D with really an outstanding secondary (esp when TW is good to go). A good nose and pass rushing DE would probably put them over the top as a complete and stellar top shelf unit. Frazier and McD are also pretty good at scheming, disguising coverages, play calling on that side of the ball etc… What it comes down to imo is how they perform now that crunch time has arrived and with it consistently superior opposition, including the opposition that they are likely going to face against which they do not match up especially well, and that they have not been built to defeat. I actually have a lot of faith in McD and Frazier getting them ready and think they have it in them so I believe that they are capable of coming up big now that they will have to. If they can do that I will unreservedly conclude that they are really very good. But I haven’t seen it yet, at least not entirely to my satisfaction, and so the jury is still out and the final grade has yet to be assigned.
