Gunner's 2022 Mock Draft (v3 and FINAL - p.17!!)
starrymessenger replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he will recover and be good to go. I don’t think he’s got character issues. Unfortunately I agree he won’t be there at 25. He’d be the first WR off the board but for the injury. But the draft is deep at the position and maybe another top shelf WR falls to us. Or we take the center and move up in the second depending on who is still there. Don’t want to see a top heavy defensive draft. That would be a bad sign imo. -
I love some of you… but I hate this site right now

Getting over it means being able to look into the future with confidence. Ive always felt that McD is a good and fully qualified and experienced professional football coach but I’ve had my doubts about his suitability as a top tier head coach of the kind that can lead you to a championship. I say that believing for the most part in his ability to prepare and motivate his roster fully acknowledging that with most any coach (except maybe the greatest of them) there will be bumps in the road ala Jacksonville. The last 13 seconds perfectly illustrates my concerns with him but it really only confirms a course of conduct that has been noticeable for a long time. Maybe one charitable way of describing it is as a lack of confidence in himself and in his resources. I worry that despite having arguably the greatest player in the game at the all important position coaching may unduly hamper our chances of acceding to a championship, bearing in mind that even with the best coaching nothing is guaranteed. Its a character thing and I believe from experience that it is hard for people to change. And that I suspect is what is called for. -
Joe Burrow Named Comeback Player Of The Year
starrymessenger replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Elite. And a good guy. Congrats. -
To me Mike Williams also fills the bill. Word is that Bolts are looking to draft his replacement. This years WR draft is deep though and depending on whose available when we are on the board that’s where I would look in the first or second rounds. We went D at the top of last years draft. Maybe we should be giving Josh a better supporting class, RB, WR. O-line (center).

What does Allen work on this summer?
starrymessenger replied to Meatloaf63's topic in The Stadium Wall
Love the way his long ball accuracy has shown up. I knew it would. His weaponry is now complete. And he will hone those skills. He’s not done getting better. He’s going to be the consensus best player in the game. Bills need to find him a couple more skill position players, draft or FA. -
Sullivan: Bills' McDermott choked away Super Bowl-caliber season

Lotta smart folks on this board. I mean I know who he is and my grammar sucks. -

McD isn’t going anywhere. But if he never makes it to a Super Bowl (and of course I hope he does) these 13 seconds will be his defining moment and his legacy. He will go down as the Neville Chamberlain of football. -
No. Worse Bills loss ever imo. Wide right - stuff happens. Music City was more a fluke. This was suicide.
-
Agree but he’s the only true star we have on that side of the ball.
-
Ok and both were from second tier programs, unlike say JuJu.
-
My bad. Gabe was 2020 draft of course. Point was that sometimes the best WRs in their respective drafts were mid-later round guys. Davis has absolutely exceeded expectations.
-
Was Zay really picked ahead of Cooper Kupp or am I just having another nightmare.

Calvin Ridley...do they bills go all in!?
starrymessenger replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills have needs on both sides of the ball but in the draft and FA any moves to support the O enjoy a kind of leverage that equivalent attention to the D does not. The reason for that is because the O is led by the best player in the game. Imagine a guard or centre (like Humphries) to shore up the line, a (better) RB to complement Singletary and another top shelf WR. Lots of 50 burgers mmmmmm -
Mic'd up: Kelce outsmarted McDermott/Frazier

I think Josh Allen is to blame. He miscalled the coin toss. -
McDermott end of season press conference
starrymessenger replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
How do you ‘apologize’ for having a yellow stripe a mile wide running down your back? I say that fully believing that both McD and Frazier are otherwise very good coaches. -

Sometimes I wonder if Frazier and McD bring out the worst in each other. Psychologists say sometimes that happens with two otherwise normal people. -
Sullivan: Bills' McDermott choked away Super Bowl-caliber season
starrymessenger replied to QCity's topic in The Stadium Wall
As has been said, both the kickoff and the defensive alignments are of the same type and mindset. Play not to lose, not to win. Overly conservative (or flat out cowardly) even when the odds are 95% in your favour if you play correct situational football. A huge spotlight was focussed on that deficiency last Sunday. The question going forward is can the HC learn from his mistakes. Frankly I don’t think it’s a question of just X’s and O’s. Its a character flaw. That makes it a lot harder. -
Upon further review...was Bass supposed to pop the kick up?
starrymessenger replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe the reference to execution was made to deflect away from the real problem. Maybe the kick and the defensive alignments in the last 13 seconds were all part of the same pathetic mindset. The deep kick was called because it provided certainty as to the result, the certainty being that it would not be returned for a touchdown. The prevent defence was called because it reduced the possibility that the Chiefs would score a touchdown and win the game in the last 13 seconds (Hill had just taken a crossing pattern to the house, beating Wallace) when correct situational football called for “preventing” the field goal. Overly conservative. Or maybe there is another word for it. -

starrymessenger replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think you are right. It was fully the intention to kick it dead and start at the 25 and the reason for that was the certainty of that outcome, which neither a squib kick nor a high kickoff to the 5 could guarantee. The trade off though would have probably been more time off the clock and maybe also better field position or a turnover opportunity and this is further evidence of our HC’s conservative approach, along with not pressing Kelse at the line, protecting the sidelines when KC had their time outs, rushing 4 etc…Not necessarily taking issue with a conservative approach to things in general but in that situation I can certainly think of other coaches who would have done things very differently. -

I agree he’s against throwing coaches, including the HC, under the bus. He did say the ‘execution’ thing starts with him, so maybe he was sort of owning up.
