2021 Allen Compared to 2022 Allen
starrymessenger replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's looking like the 2017 Allen. But he'll be back. I'm not one for speculation or conspiracy theories but I must say even as a casual observer that I've noticed his facial expressions when on the side lines and body language are such that I don't remember ever having seen before. He looks confused and somewhat deflated. Not the intangibles we are used to seeing. Maybe the question is whether this is simply a reaction to poor play or whether it points to another reason that could be a contributing cause and that we as fans at this point have little insight into. -
The Bills lost yesterday because… (karma reasons only)

Josh got fat. Too many donuts. -
As has been mentioned Josh seems to have issues executing the QB sneak when the game is on the line. You can't disregard the similarity between when Simmons blew up Dawkins and Josh slipped last year and the fumbled exchange yesterday. Maybe in those situations Josh is simply too amped up and not collected enuf. In principle you'd think that with a guy like him it should be automatic. Lots of posters were calling for more QB sneaks on short yardage attempts. As for whether it was the right call or not, I could be wrong but it looked to me like there was room for him to easily gain at least a couple of yards through the A gap to his right and I got the impression that's where he was planning to go except he forgot to bring the ball. For sure there were other playcalls that should have resulted in a victory. Bills blew it.

He's inconsistent. Sometimes good. Sometimes not.

Terrel Bernard was absolutely abused yesterday
starrymessenger replied to TwistofFate's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bernard looks to me like a guy who lacks the minimum level of athleticism needed to play at this level. Looks like a big miss. -
The real upside I hope to see from this trade is to have Allen and Dorsey raise Hines's game as a weapon to a higher level. They can have that effect on people. I see the trade as a positive in the short term mostly because Moss could not be counted on to contribute much and Crowder is out. Hines, a veteran, also takes some of the pressure of rooks Shakir and Cook.

Trade Deadline (Nov 1) Bills Rumors / Speculation
starrymessenger replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well actually the fanbase knew Fred was a player long before the team (Jauron) did. All aboard the A train. Remember that? Lol. Devin's a good back. And that's about as far as I think you can go. Assuming he takes care of the football he's ok as our lead back (there's no one else to choose from really). He'd be a great complement/change of pace guy to a true #1 but you can't always have what you want. With him and of course Allen the ground game is probably good enuf to take some pressure off the passing game. At least I suspect that is what Beane is thinking. -
Kadarius Toney to the Chiefs for picks
starrymessenger replied to wolfpack78's topic in The Stadium Wall
You're probably right. But although Diggs was unhappy in Minny I don't recall him being a bad actor at all (like maybe Toney is) and he had produced better than Jeudy has. There are pros and cons in any trade evaluation, but Beane has a very low tolerance it seems to me for anything that can adversely affect team chemistry. Not at all the philosophy we see from KC. -

No way Beane trades for a reputed head case no matter how talented. Jeudy's recent bad body language might be enuf to turn him off even if he was otherwise interested. -
Broncos getting trade calls for Jeudy and Chubb
starrymessenger replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he came to Buffalo his QB would be Josh Allen, the #1 player in the game today at the all important position. Josh Allen brings the best out of everyone. Jeudy would be no different imo. He'd also be entering a WR room with Diggs and Davis, veterans and consummate professionals. Somehow I take that to be a very different place than the Denver WR room. Those guys would also take some of the pressure of immediate high expectations off of him and give him time to adjust. If he pans out he helps take this O to another level and provides insurance against the loss through injury of one of our star wideouts. Bills are a strong championship contender and clearly one of the best organizations in the league top to bottom. He could not land in a better place from his perspective. Hes had issues with drops recently and while a concern I suspect these are concentration lapses that should be correctable. As others have said he was considered to be sure handed coming out. He wouldn't come cheap, maybe a 2023 2nd and a mid to late pick in 2024 (assuming Denver is even interested). I don't think Beane would go there even if Jeudy is cap friendly so for sure I don't expect a trade. -

If he couldn't flourish in this offence for sure he's a bust. I think there is a good chance he would flourish. -
[Name Only Title] Kareem Hunt ??????????????????
starrymessenger replied to Paul Costa's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm for going all-in. I'd give the Browns our 4th (in effect an early 5th). I'd also consider a third + for Jerry Jeudy if Denver would do it. That would be adding two playmakers for much less than SF paid for CMC. -
If he's fully recovered from injury Jets got a good back for next to nothing.
-
If they were in a deep cover 2 and you couldn't find a run game that's when you'd have a problem. Devin is right now contributing all this offence needs in the way of a run game. He's fine as the lead back provided he's good with ball security. The Bills seem to improve their running offence as the year goes on (at least they did last year) and the appear to be doing so again. For his whole career he's been a durable workhorse, including his college days. He's not a game breaker but he's good enuf to keep us from having to pass 60 times a game, which would make that deep cover 2 thing a problem even with Allen, Diggs and Davis. In an ideal world I too see him best as complementary back to a true # 1, but that guy was not CMC, more like the guy in Indy or even the Jets rook. But those guys are hard to find, especially if you don't take an RB with an early pick in the draft. Even as a passing team we do need to run the ball but I think our RBs are capable of getting the job done.
-
It's been 2 1/2 years since CMC has been a game breaker.
-
To me Singletary has shown that he can function adequately as the feature back and he does not have CMC's injury history. I don't think whatever extra marginal value CMC might provide is worth the 32nd pick. Pass.

NFL Week #6 - Bills at the Chiefs - 1st half game thread
starrymessenger replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Its that simple -
Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes are worth infinite draft capital.
starrymessenger replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think you meant to say Mahomes. I agree that Herbert is much less visibly animated than either Allen or Mahomes. That's probably what caused Miami to discount his competitive nature. But there are different ways to show leadership and the best cred is to do so by example, which all three of them do. I'm sure the guys in the huddle trust Herbert and believe in him. He is a great young player and it's important too to say that he appears to be a good person without character flaws, so no Jeff George or Cutler who may have had the skills but not the (leadership) personality. Eli was definitely toned down but he's a funny guy and no doubt his teammates knew him a lot better than any observers. Regarding the question asked in this thread about trading a young superstar QB in his prime of course that is hypothetically possible imo. I say that believing that Allen's particular combination of physical skills, intelligence, psychological aptitudes and work ethic have perhaps never before been seen. But every commodity (or player) has its price, its just that it's likely to be prohibitive. Like maybe four all pros in their prime at positions of need and a half dozen first round picks. A perennial bottom feeding team with few prospects for improvement in reasonable time frames despite having a guy like Allen could feel that their path to competitiveness might be shorter if they traded him away. -

Thinking that Herbert was not a leader and a winner is what led Miami to pick Tua ahead of him. That was a mistake. The guy actually is very competitive. -

But does he even have possession and a complete pass in that case.
