If the Bills are prioritizing an explosive WR who can line up outside as a vertical threat but still operate efficiently at all three levels it looks to me like the choices are Addison and Flowers. They are undersized but given their lightning quick release and ability to separate this is more relevant to durability than ability to perform. One of them, probably Flowers, will likely be there at 27.

I think it's fair to say that no one player in this draft has the potential to help Josh out more than Bijan. Josh would no longer be RB#1 in our O and Bijan catches anything thrown his way. The other big helper is Addison but I actually think Robinson is more likely to be there at 27. If they were both there (neither is likely to be there, Bijan will go 26 or earlier imo) I would pick Addison and draft an RB in the later rounds.

Well in fairness they literally never threw him the ball at Ole Miss.

I think he can make sense if there at 27. If the TE is a really good blocker you are bolstering your o-line. To the extent also a contributor in the passing game you are helping Josh in more than one way. Of course a guy like Kincaid will probably cost your first pick. I think in the long run you might be as well or better served by taking one later in the draft, I would like D. Washington in the third, and use earlier picks elsewhere. But the TE group is strong and the WR group is not the greatest so maybe TE is a better value pick earlier on.

I think I know what I would like in terms of approach and some individual players but of course I probably won't get what I want. 1 Addison (too many WR needy teams and he's just too good to last). So maybe another potential difference maker at WR might be available. 2. IOL, Avila or Cody Mauch. Both can play multiple O-line positions. Mauch looks inbred and is hobo level disheveled but he is likely a 10 year starter. Not much upside but the floor is high enuf. 3. Darnell Washington (it's like another really good O-lineman). He's a fantastic blocker, can be an option for Josh in the passing game, will enable TE #1 to run more routes and will strike fear into the hearts of all adversaries. 4. You can maybe find a couple of safeties in the 4th who have high upside but are works in progress. Jammie Robinson, Sidney Brown. Lets see if McD can coach them up. 5. The RB class is extremely deep and talented. You can probably find exactly what you need in the fifth round. I like Johnson as a power back but there are lots of guys who can bring pass pro, run inside the tackles, have speed and can even project as three down backs at the next level. Let DS walk and draft one. 6. A speculative edge rusher or LB? Of course everything will be impacted by moves the team will make in advance of the draft. And I'm assuming Tremaine is not going anywhere in 2023. If he's gone the Bills may look to the draft for a replacement. Actually I'm not sure McD will be able to control himself if Branch and/or Johnson (the safety) is still on the board at 27 (which is likely).

They've got Rich Eisen, a 40 specialist.

I agree that you would also add an offensive lineman in the draft or FA. Maybe the guy in Baltimore.

Draft an outstanding blocking TE (who btw I think can probably surprise as a weapon) and maybe Knox gets to run more routes. I assume that partly accounts for Beane's apparent interest.
-
My guess is that he goes in the second round or early third but if he's there for us in the late third, depending on who exactly we have chosen in the first two rounds, I'd be good with him. He's a tremendous blocker and while he hasn't been used much in the passing game he's a nightmarish mismatch especially if he can hit the seams, as some observers say he can.

Or maybe Jammie Robinson in the fourth.

JMO and I could be wrong but it looks to me as though Frazier's sabbatical was a mutually agreed separation orchestrated with the respect due a senior member of the coaching confraternity and someone everybody seems to like personally. I sorta think Frazier would be signing a new contract with the Bills if we had won the Super Bowl. I also get the feeling that the Bills are sensitive to the fan bases' displeasure with the disappointing performance of the D, especially in the playoffs (but actually not limited to the playoffs). When the prevailing opinion of many observers is that changes are necessary how would signing Frazier to a new contract look - it would be understood as sending the message that nothing was changing, even if that was not necessarily the intention. I don't think that's the message the Bills want to be sending. It would reinforce the suspicion that this coaching staff was basically just living off the fat of the land without a plan or the will to make difficult decisions needed to improve on the results. If that's right, then I take this to be an acknowledgment that a change of direction is necessary. IMO they now need to follow through. Along with many others I feel that the emphasis needs to be on developing the offence. With FA and the draft we will be getting an early heads up on what their plans may actually be. Of course if a year from now we are in the same place with no steps taken to change course then these guys need to go away. All of them. That's how it works, and should work, in this business. As to whether there is now an opportunity to turn things around I believe that there is. The Bills are a good team. You just cannot lose 1 1/2 pro bowl safeties, an all pro corner and a HoF pass rusher and not have it hurt big time. I don't really have a problem with the defensive scheme as such, if that's what they want to run. Its more the in-game alignments and playcalls that sometimes appear to be problematic, and clearly there are a few personnel issues that need to be resolved/improved. This administration has in fact bought itself a reprieve. It would be well advised to make good use of it.

A picture of Von Miller and D Henry

That's the thing about trading for a back like Henry or drafting a player like Bijan. If you are going to do them justice you build your offense around them. If you do that you're taking the ball out of Allen's hands to a significant extent. I thought the idea was to improve the O-line to give Allen more opportunity to work his magic with better weapons in the passing game. You need a credible running game and a more balanced attack but there are some very promising RBs in this draft who should be available in the fourth or fifth rounds who can serve as excellent complements to Cook and NH (if he sticks around). -
Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract

Its like now you're negotiating with me. -
Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
starrymessenger replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just went on the record saying he's not getting everything he has asked for in the way of a guarantee, specifically a fully guaranteed contract. Maybe some GM will do it but I don't believe many would. I think someone, maybe even the Ravens, could offer him more money over a cap friendly six year contract but it won't be fully guaranteed imo (nor should it be). -

Yeah we should just leave it up to the player. We shouldn't even discuss player comp lol... By the way, I think Lamar should be listening to a professional representative instead of his mom. -

If they franchise him under a non-exclusive tag (I think they will) he can sit in a room alone under the light of a single bulb and negotiate with himself. I don't think anyone meets his demands. In addition to the risk of injury teams also have to figure out whether Lamar really is scheme versatile or whether Roman's run heavy offence was crucial in putting him in a position to succeed. -
You can draft a better receiver for cheaper $. Nothing against Woods. He's been a real pro.

Addison is not big. We will see how he runs at the Combine but although he will be sub 4.5 he’s not in Hyatt’s league in that regard. He likely has Diggs speed and like Diggs is a great route runner. He absolutely is a vertical threat on the outside despite his size and he can take the top off a defence operating from the slot in the short and intermediate depths. To me Hyatt is a big risk of busting or underperforming relative to where he gets drafted. I wouldn’t touch him.
-
He is strictly a slot guy at the next level. Very good safe pick if a slot WR is what you are looking for. You are right though inasmuch as some analysts believe he wont be a big plays guy in the pros like he was in college. Simply not fast or explosive enuf for that. A good comparable might be Cole Beasley at his best, which is good.

Agree with Skoronski projecting as a guard (with I would assume some tackle and center versatility) and would be an excellent pick. As a pretty much day one starter and maybe the first o-line off the board I wonder whether he will be there at 27. I know he has been mocked as late as the early second.
