Yep. Gave up possession on the Ravens side of the field all for 20 whole yards of field position. -

Yeah, I know some members wanted him and I can understand why. Apart from scheme and the fact that we have Shakir, I also tend to think that the Bills brain trust feel that McConkey is closer to his ceiling than Coleman, who is clearly a lot more raw. For sure they knew McConkey was going to be a very good pro, I mean didn't everybody? They also favour bigger athletes with early picks Josh, Tremaine... -

Amazing. Maybe they should hire a line coach. -

Herbert has an O line that can't pass protect or run block. His receivers help the opposition intercept his passes. What an awful team. -
One Thing: Keon looked terrible yesterday
starrymessenger replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Coleman is a raw as red meat rookie who has a lot to learn about route running, hand usage, getting off the line, and catching the friggen football etc,,,and though a physical specimen he should benefit from the offseason NFL conditioning program he will certainly be following. He's just a kid and one can reasonably expect him to evolve into an even stronger, more physical player when he becomes a man. He also needs to become a professional football player and that happens above the shoulders, not below. As for receiver type he is obviously not an X who can live on the boundary. He's not Brian Thomas to be sure, and that type or reasonable facsimile absolutely remains a need to complete the Bills receiver room long term. They are not all first rounders either. I think Marvin Mims can be that kind of player even though he is not big and tall and he went in the second if memory serves. Ladd is that kind of guy. One can easily see Coleman lining up in the slot a lot running slants and drag routes over the middle of the field. But I think he has shown that he can be more than a possession receiver who can block and I can see them moving him around a lot lined up as a flanker and even on the outside as well. Wouldn't seem unnatural to see him lined up outside in or around the red zone (but not just there). Setting up outside does not necessarily mean that the subject player is just running go routes. So if he's a slot then like Fitzgerald under Arians or Anquan Boldin he is a slot with big play potential and capabilities imo. One perhaps forgets that though "slow" Boldin took significant snaps outside early in his career and was very effective doing so though again not in any way like a true X receiver type. Coleman was bad against the Pats but if Denver continues to opt for majority man coverage (with a little cover 1 mixed in) I like his chances of playing a meaningful role in the upcoming game. If Josh Allen, the most mobile of QBs (along with Lamar) is able to buy time outside the pocket Coleman could stand out as an attractive target. He has a decent chance to develop into an impactful receiver imo. Nothing is guaranteed though of course. -
Much rather Nix than Burrow & Co so no complaints. But under Payton's tutelage Nix plays within himself and the system. He is also a little older than most rook QBs and seems more mature and composed. He can run to daylight when the opportunity arises and he has weapons in the passing game. I liked Mims a lot when drafted and he has come along nicely. Sutton is top shelf both as a deep threat and possession receiver. Javonte Williams has perhaps not overall lived up to his pre-draft billing but he is capable of a good game (eg versus Raiders), is a reliable checkdown option and is good in pass pro. And their D is nasty. I'm sure McD has a good idea of what the Broncos will try to do on O and what needs to be done to stop them. They are not unpredictable though and that is probably a reflection of Nix's limitations. He is a rook after all. It will be up to the D to execute. If they don't it will be a close game imo.

He is great at nothing but he's pretty much good at everything. I saw his interview with Chris Long which I think dates back to training camp. He comes across as an intelligent man. Seems to translate into excellent situational awareness on the football field.

Coleman shows up Allen on first TD target
starrymessenger replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you go back my main point is actually that in this case it's a nothing burger. Contrary to some I do however think it merits brief discussion because in football this kind of thing can be a problem where the receiver is a diva and the QB a hardass. Keon's a good kid, not a diva, and Josh is no hardass. -

So we have seen Josh Allen's ball placement consistently take advantage of Keon's particular physical attributes. So he must have forgotten on this occasion and needed to be reminded. Got it. -

Trust me. Josh knows exactly where the pass is supposed to be. -

Josh knows where the pass is supposed to be. He doesn't need rookie Coleman to tell him. -

I agree with the OP although I don't think it's as serious as he seems to think. And I like Keon a lot, both as a player and a teammate. One reason why it's not serious is because Allen, though a huge baller, is very much a laid back guy. A genuinely nice guy. Not all HoF worthyQBs are like that. Favre or Rodger's in his prime might have kicked his ass so hard he'd fly back to Florida without a plane. Had he been playing with guys like that he probably would have known better than to do it. Actually his being so loose is an indication of the chemistry these two are cooking up. That's the important thing. -
Poll: Would you trade Coleman for Worthy straight up?
starrymessenger replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
If I thought Worthy was the next DeSean Jackson I would trade Coleman for Worthy. But he is not that guy imo. He is more than a gadget and If he avoids injury he should have a decent career used properly and in the right scheme. He landed in a good spot. Coleman sort of reminds me of James Cook. When I watched James last couple of years my feeling was sometimes of frustration. Frustration because it seemed that he was often just a half step or one block away from taking it to the house. This year it's happening as he establishes himself as one of the top breakaway backs in the league. Coleman's growing pains can also be frustrating. He is as raw as red meat and has yet to acclimate to the pro game. But I've got this feeling that there are three and four touchdown games in his future and not all of them red zone either. He almost had three tds today. The long one was a beauty that was stolen by the refs. And while I did not appreciate his gesture, there is little doubt that if Josh's pass had been a foot or two higher, it would have resulted in another td. Coleman is going to develop into a very good player. I would not trade him for Worthy. Coleman can't separate lol. -
