It does count but I'm saying that by far most of what we saw was the work of their system on offence (in other words BB who devised it and TB who executes it as well as anyone could). Jets are as or probably more talented but for the QB position. On D its not just their run D that is suspect. In spite of their good young corner they are vulnerable against the pass. A. Rogers and the Pack would expose these guys, and maybe Matt Ryan and the Falcons IMO.

Mallett weighs in at about 240lbs and can probably put on another 15-20 lbs on the frame he has as a pro. That would make him as big as Newton or maybe even bigger. They are both top prospects, IMO. If Mallett's ceiling is Bledsoe/Flacco, that really pretty good and a lot better than we have had for a long while. He can be accurate and has one of the biggest arms I have ever seen. As for Fairley, he is a huge talent but I think Marcell Dareus can be as good and maybe even a better pro without the risk of character issues. I don't think I would pick another Albert Haynesworth with Dareus on the board.

I don't hate any team or their fans (with the possible exception of Eagle fans, who I don't hate as such but who I certainly do fear because they are all dangerous psychos), but I do recognize the Pats for who they really are, namely the Great Football Satan. Would like to see Sir Buddy cut off their head. Whether he does or not (odds aren't great) I expect the Pats to fall. They are actually not that good. I have never seen a team where the HC, the QB and the owner account for all of the difference between being average and being great. Now that we are down to only superior teams, the Pats will have to be lucky to win it all this year.

We'll Be Drafting Our Franchise QB This Year
starrymessenger replied to Bangarang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Had he declared last year he would likely have been a first round selection, and as has been mentioned played hurt much of this year. Would be wary of Seminole QBs but I agree Nix may have an interest and have heard before that the Bills scouts really like him. -
Proof that Brady was jawing Jets sideline
starrymessenger replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jets and Buddy talked trash all week long before the game, and did so in a very public way. Brady would have to be a saint to not rub it in as he personally utterly destroys them because they can't back up the talk. Same thing is going on this week in the Jets camp - Buddy, Reevis, Cromartie. And Tom will no doubt once again try to totally belittle and humiliate them. Sometimes I wonder whether this sort of thing is mostly hype and drama. Wouldn't be surprised to see Reevis and Brady, two elite pros, exchanging pleasantries on the field after the game. Would like to see the Jets (or anybody) upset the Pats. Think we might be in for a good game. -
Bleacher latest Mock Draft looks ohh so good...
starrymessenger replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd rather have Fairley and Mallett than Cam at #3. However I agree with Dr.D. that there is a palpable risk that Gailey will want Cam and get his way. Also agree that this is not a disaster, just not what I would have done or preferred. -
Completely agree. Love me some Marcel.

Yes, we do. Why? Because football, like Wall Street, is a purely bottom line driven endeavour. Performance, or the lack thereof, is all you need to justify a conclusion one way or the other. There are no if ands or buts. Reasons, even good ones, not to mention excuses, simply do not matter. There are only results (or the lack thereof). Welcome to the world of high risk/high reward.

James Hardy signed to Ravens offseason roster
starrymessenger replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really hope he learns how to run patterns, achieve separation or at least use his size to advantage as a red zone/possession receiver should. If anyone can teach him to be a more physical player its the Ravens. He will be in great veteran receiver company. Maybe some good will rub off. -
Good read on Gabbert and Mallet
starrymessenger replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If thats all hes missing, then he can learn to do it. Point is hes just a kid and he already makes throws that most pro quarterbacks can't. Not saying he is necessarily what the Bills and Gailey need, but hes one of the top prospect at the position and if he turns into the next Joe Flacco thats really not so bad. -
Can't give you examples. There may not be any. But it is wrong to say that because he has had to work miracles with lesser talents he would not want to have and coach a legitimate franchise guy. He has said as much and I believe him.

Or Big Ben. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. -
Don't know much about Starks. Sounds like he would have been drafted much earlier but for risk associated with injury his senior year. Something to bear in mind however is, especially if he is talented, he is showing up with fresh legs at a time of year when players, especially running backs, are pretty beat up (so much for the 18 game season). Regarding Spiller, in order to justify his selection at #9, he needs to turn into a big time playmaker - whhich he has not done yet, but may do in the future. As for running backs generally, if your name is Peterson, Simpson, Payton, Dickerson, Faulk, R. Wiliams, E. Smith, T. Thomas etc, and people reasonably expect you to to be that good, you will be a top ten pick in any draft, and for good reason. BTW I realize not all were drafted that high (Thurman was a second rounder due I believe to injury concerns)but inj retrospect he would have been top ten.

Rex is crazy -- like a fox
starrymessenger replied to VirginiaMike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Frankly, what puzzled me a lot more (because Peyton knows how to read a blitz and will make you regret it) is why that genius gregg didn't blitz Hasselback, especially in the second half after it was clear that his gameplan was not working. Where was A. Hargrove? As for Rex, he is one of the best DCs in the game and has been successful as a HC. So he isn't dumb. Personally I like the entertainment value. Hes the Ocho Cinco of head coaches. Not a bad guy and a lot more fun than BB. I hope the Jets beat the Pats, Tom and BB. This will not be a 45-3 blowout. If Sanchez can put 60 good minutes of football together, I expect a close game. That is perhaps unlikely but far from impossible. It is part and parcel of being inconsistent that you are good sometimes. If the Pats jump out to an early lead and Sanchez is not productive, they should put GF in. He is still pretty mobile, is very accurate and I think still has an arm. -
Kiper moves Fairley up to number 1
starrymessenger replied to bkc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct. All will be well - assuming our war room does not get "creative" on draft day just to show everyone how smart they are. -
To this day, Cookie is a legend in Canada. His name always comes up in "greatest player" debates. Jack Kemp said Cookie was the greatest football player he ever saw. RIP

With a strong showing tonight, a great combine and good interviews I definitely do believe it. If all that happens I expect him to go # 1 overall.

What About Another Bills Eagles Trade ??
starrymessenger replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Point is Kolb wants to start and would not accept a backup role. Might as well stay in Philly. Wouldn't mind seeing what Chan could do with Alex Smith. Vince is a suicidal fruitcake - no thanks. All academic though if Cam Newton pans out well prior to the draft and is there at #3. Chan would loby hard for him IMO and he seems to get his way a lot viz Spiller. -
Saints would have offered a 3rd round pick
starrymessenger replied to zevo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saints put up 36 points yesterday, easily enough to win. Instead of trading for Marshawn, they should have traded for some run D.
