Better than Boogie?

Like most fans I'm onboard with taking a receiver with our first pick at #28. The Bills O could really do with an X who can reliably stretch the field. Subject to finding a power back in FA of the draft (A. Estime?), adding that skillset would complete the weaponry for Allen and Brady and put the onus on them because there would be plenty of offensive talent. I have a feeling that the Bills could well go defence (DT or secondary)or edge at 28 depending on how the board looks and try to move down from 60 for probably Franklin or maybe Leggette in the second. Or they may trade down and look to get one of those guys with their first pick. If Thomas or AD Mitchell was available at 28 I'd just take either, recognizing that neither is a perfect can't miss prospect. Wouldn't want to see those guys with PM in KC.

Chad could take the big hits. Think Ray Lewis. Not sure about Franklin.

Mitchell ran (and otherwise tested) as well as I expected Franklin to run and test and Franklin ran about as well (slightly better) as I expected Mitchell to run. If Mitchell or Thomas are still on the board at 28 I do not want a trade down. As prospects right now Thomas and Mitchell are above Leggette, Franklin, and Coleman, just as the top 3 are ahead of Thomas and Mitchell (based mostly on production and the opportunities each had to show their stuff in their respective systems, how they were used etc...not necessarily because they will be better pros). I don't think that scooping an extra pick is worth moving off of Thomas or Mitchell and drafting Franklin, Leggette or Coleman if that's what they are thinking. These prospects are not at all interchangeable. Given the gap between Franklin's tape and combine it certainly makes sense for the Bills to take a closer look. If he really is the guy we expected to see in Indy then the picture could well change. But even if he tests better at the private workout, I still don't see him as of equal value to those bigger faster boys as prospects go. Maybe the Bills are looking at a defensive player at 28 to be followed by a big trade down in the second. Maybe the Samuel signing makes this more likely. I'd rather they simply took Mitchell or Thomas if there and move down for a defensive player (Sweat?) in the second rather than hope they can nab Franklin, Coleman or Leggette moving down from 60.

If Thomas or Mitchell is there at 28 and Beane/McD pass for another positional group I will not be happy.

We are out of contention for one of the top three. The only guys I would consider moving up for would be Thomas or Mitchell and even then only maybe max 4 spots and only if it was thought to be necessary based on how the board had come to look at the time. If only Coleman or Leggett or Franklin were left amongst premier X receiver prospects I might be inclined to trade down and take one in the second (Coleman would be my preference in that case).. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Thomas or Mirchell proved to be as good pros as the top three.

I think Ty was a good signing. The Bills may look to the late rounds for a bigger power back. Audric Estime had a bad combine and will certainly drop. To me he has the makings of a decent short yardage power back who is capable of getting to the second level (if maybe not so much beyond). He would likely be well worth it if all you need to spend is a fifth or sixth.

As a WR 5 this guy should be able to contribute. He may be wierd but hes also football smart. Quarterback friendly. Good hands. A very good blocker. Kroger will love him. He’s better than Sherfield or Kumerow. Like Morrow a good signing. I expect the Bills to draft 2 WRs. He will for sure beat out Shorter imo.

I thought that tag and trade was where they would wind up. I didn't think Higgins would agree to play under the tag. He wants to get paid long term. Extension out of the question with Burrow now and Chase coming up.

If he's smart he will draft Drake Maye. JMO.

And his breakup of the pass to Hill on the immediately preceding play was even more impressive.

There is no way he's worth more than 3-4 mil per. Jax discovered that they overpaid with that 30 mil contract they gave him. in that he could not assume the expanded role they envisioned for him. Was thought to be a three down player who could develop as a pass rusher/QB pressure guy. Just didn't materialize. As a rotational run stuffer he would be a good get. He can do that well. I think he played around 50% of Jax def snaps last year.

Agree receiver is likely not near the top of his list and this is a good draft for O lineman too. I just worry about him falling in love with someone I'd like to see in a Bills uni.

Gallup has not been the same player since his ACL tear. Cooks is in the last year of his contract (and probably of his tenure with the Boys). They reached out to NO for him because they knew they were in trouble at WR following the 2022 season. Their receiver room has never been the same since they traded their #1, Amari Cooper, to Cleveland. Big mistake. OT is certainly a priority but they could certainly benefit greatly by pairing a stud receiver with C.D. Guys like Thomas and Mitchell are the kinds of players Jerry covets. They are like Dez Bryant, only probably better (certainly faster and more athletic/explosive).

Let it be someone else. Glad he will likely be occupying a slot before the 28 spot though. I think one or more of Thomas, Mitchell and/or Coleman will be there for us. I would be fine with any one of those 3 in the first, though Mitchell is my preference. If as some say Coleman drops into the second because of his 40 he will represent great value imo for whoever lands him. I think he's going to be very good. Don't quite know what to make of Franklin following his combine.

People worry about the Chiefs moving up, possibly big time, but I don't know. The Chiefs don't typically select a WR in the first round. They do it in the second. Maybe round 2 is where they move up. A. Mitchell has always been my target but although they have other pressing needs I see Mitchell as somebody Jerry will absolutely love and WR is a secondary need for the Boys.

Sometimes talent evaluators fall in love with a player because of a single desirable trait. In this case an allegedly incredible first step. If that's all she wrote it won't be enough.

Steve Smith has A. Mitchell in his top 5. So relax.His hands are second to none in this draft.

He's in the (top of the )second tier of DTs. I'm thinking he could easily fall into the third round. He played at that weight in college. Plus at 366 how many game reps do you think you could expect from him? Maybe less of an issue for a team that relies heavily on a rotation but most teams would be looking for more from a highly drafted DT.

Teams/analysts were looking for him to get down below 350. At this weight his testing results will probably be adversely affected. Players do all sorts of things to manage their combine weight - Maybin, Bryce Young- the fact that he's done nothing to get it down is a very bad look. He could drop.

I don't understand why weighing in at 366 is good news for Sweat. It's a lot like the opposite.

Mitchell can for sure line up on the line and on the boundary. Thing is he's actually versatile, which means he can also run other than vertical routes. I see that as a good thing even if other guys can function underneath. He's also a good blocker and most analysts expect him to add 15-20 lbs.

Mitchell is absolutely a downfield threat but I would look for more pure speed from the second receiver I'd want them to come away with. Could be a later round pick or a FA (like Mooney, assuming they are wrong about his commanding 10+ per. Six or seven would be more reasonable).

In a number of instances Mitchell holds his hands close to his body. But he still uses his hands to catch. For that reason I (reluctantly) disagreed with Smith. Add to that the fact that there is also plenty of tape of him catching with full extension. Despite the criticism Mitchell is in Smith's top five. High praise given the class.
