Mike Pereira: Gruden is a “blowhard”
starrymessenger replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike who? -
So do we draft Richardson if he falls to us (which I doubt)?

I thought Levitre would be good when I saw him absolutely neuter Rey Malualuga a few years back. Nasty. Nice to see him fulfill his potential. He is one bad dude. I agree with this, sort of. Bell is a good LT (especially in pass pro). Durability is the issue. Hairston was IMO a steal as a fourth round pick. He is a weird looking guy, but I think he has a high ceiling at either O tackle position.

Bengals begging for fans to show up
starrymessenger replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Certainly would not. If the Bills were in the playoffs the Ralph would definitely be rocking. Funny that the Bengals are getting no support. They are just a couple of premier players away from dominating their division IMO. Watch them draft a CB with elite potential to replace Joseph. -
Mallet was and remains a very good QB prospect that the Pats got dirt cheap in last years draft. Personally I would love to see him behind Fitz next year, but its not going to happen. Hoyer's contract is up and he will be looking for a starting job somewhere and the Pats will obviously not be franchising him. So Mallet was drafted as Brady's backup and possible successor, depending on how he pans out (which IMO is entirely up to him). If the Bills go looking for a QB this year it will have to be someone like Jones or Foles.

He is not very good in coverage (yet), but he is a very good athlete and if he can improve he will be a steal as a seventh round corner. Aaron Williams is looking like a possible standout player. If Buddy's 2012 draft is as good as 2011, things will start looking a lot better as soon as next year.
-
Agree for the most part. If it is true that the only draft that is catagorically Buddy's responsibility is 2011, then I grade him at a B+. Whats more, if he is able to repeat in 2012, the Bills will have turned the corner IMO, whether or not Fitz lines up under center on opening day. Thats really the only glimmer of hope I see at this rather dark time for Bills fans.

Stevie Johnson: After the INT

No. Stevie Johnson is the real deal. Pair him with a guy who can throw and he will light it up. -
Stevie Johnson: After the INT
starrymessenger replied to mountainwampus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually the pass was worse than what Corey Webster intercepted. Almost as bad, though not as funny, as the pass he threw yesterday 20 yards downfield and sixty yards in the air. A pot luck jump ball for maybe 10 players on either side. A poster yesterday said the pass where Fitz overthrew Johnson was about SJ's lack of elite speed. Hilarious. SJ is a bit of a flake, no doubt but 1) he is a WR:many WR are flakes and 2) he is also really very talented. After the Jets game Stevie got flamed for the late game "drops". One poster said that was the difference betwen SJ and a true #1 receiver, like Santonio Holmes. Anyone watching the 2nd Jets game should have noticed Holmes dropping passes, including some well thrown balls, all over the place that day (even if he did catch an easy game winner. The truth is they almost all drop some. -
Yeah he kinda looks like a little kid out there. Maybe he'll turn into the next Darrell Green (though I doubt it).
-
How about "let it continue". The only encouraging sign right now is the success of the 2011 draft. It really looks very good. If as some say 2010 was on Modrak and his scouting dept (even if Buddy was GM at the time and previously chief scout)then perhaps we can expect another winning effort in 2012. If that happens, the team has a chance to at least turn the corner.

Who is Ralph Wilson Jr?
starrymessenger replied to BillsfaninFl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You might forgive the man for lacking a little fire for football in his belly as he stands on the threshold of eternity. Then again, perhaps not. -
Forget about a blue chipper like Blackmon. Bills will probably look to sign Donnie Avery after the Titans release him.

This Manning Situation Will Be THE Talk
starrymessenger replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Luck will not sit. He is ready to play. Manning and Luck will not be on the same roster IMO. -
They didn't know so much when they drafted Brohm in the second. He was good in college too (and he didn't hav anyone at Louisville like Michael Crabtree). Time will tell but IMO he is either their third option at QB next year, on their practice squad, or gone. They are just covering their backsides since Flynn will be leaving. What does it cost them? A few thousand dollars a week. But you know I wouldn't mind seeing him under center for the Pack. It would at least be inteesting to see so well oiled an offensive machine disintegtrate in a nanosecond. If he ever gets to play at this level he will be a turnover machine(IMO). Can't throw 25 yards downfield with a hurricane at his back.
-
You cannot be more correct IMO. Graham Harrell absolutely sucks as a pro QB. He couldn't even play in Canada. What this suggests to me is that having written the check the Bills intend to go with Fitz and not draft and groom a premier prospect at the position. GB is probably just leaving their options opoen. Don't be surprised if he is not on their roster next year as they find a better player to back up AR. Buddy can go get him then. Chan Gailey should get his head out of the college dust bin. He's coaching in a pro league now. Now Matt Flynn on the other hand. There a guy who looks like he might be player. No chance of our landing him I guess.

Re model citizen, a Jets former teammate says though he was respected as a player people were very wary of Suh's anger management issues and unexpected mood swings. Says this never came out in public and was never flagged at the combine. Suh is a boy in a man's body. He needs to grow up (if at all possible). Having said that, after we draft RG3 in the first, I hope we land Vontaze Burfict in the second. He's a real puppy off the field too.

They were backing up the truck foe Nnambi at the time and could not match. When Nnambi signed with Philly Brad was gone to Buff. I don't know, I guess we overpaid. But I like what I'm seeing from him as a WR. For a guy who has never played the position he looks remarkably good to me. Fast, long arm's, good ball shills and, incredibly, seems to have a sense of how to run a pass pattern. Imagine if he turned out to be the guy we needed to stretch the field all along.

Spiller's crucial flaw
starrymessenger replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Easy to say (I expected the comment). I saw several plays where he was behind blocks that were made. I would not go so far as to say he needs to make his own holes to run thru, however if someone said that (as they have) I think I know what they mean. He still does not hit itquick enuf. Not enuf explosion. He has improved tho and possibly the rest of this season will help him for next and beyond. -
Spiller's crucial flaw
starrymessenger replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a RB, to me the main problem is that CJ stilldoes not hit the hole fast enuf. He's improving but not there yet. He is not a power back who can be expected to make his living breaking tackles. -
sorry its pretty clear he matches up well against the best cover corner in football. now if we only had a corner that can shut down Welker we'd be cookin.
