  1. Chandler is a good player. Upgrade the offence and use more TE friendly sets and he will even look better. Needs to work on his blocking though. Remember he is seeing the field for the first time since being drafted. He should get better.
  2. Suh is a dope, and he is in denial. In football, as in many other sports, violent aggression is a virtue - Boxing, that octagon stuff, hockey, baseball (yes baseball- remember Bob Gibson? - he was a nasty bad man). But all these sports have and indeed need rules to prevent them from degenerating into meaningless free for alls. And knowing how to play within the rules, while at the same time being a complete badass, is what separates the great ones from the flash in the pans. That is why Vontaze Burfict may never be another Dick Butkus, even though he is a better athlete than Mr Butkus ever was and has as much aggression in him. Suh seems inclined to follow the path of Albert Haynesworth instead of another guy we love to hate - Vince Wilfork - or yet another pretty "dirty" tackle - Warren Sapp, who, like them or not, are/were great players. Its a shame to see all that talent go to waste, but that is exactly what will happen unless the light goes on in Suh's head, and soon. He is a marked man and the refs watch his every move as under a micoscope. And he won't be getting the benefit of any doubts. He doesn't like them, but they don't like him either (whether they admit it or not). It gets nasty in the trenches. That Packer lineman horse collared Suh to the ground and held him down but did not draw a flag. And you know, Suh's stomp was not a big deal (unlike Haynesworth's 30 stitch number)- it was just a nuisance kick. If Suh really wanted to stomp the guy and inflict real damage, he could have, but did not do that. What he did was mostly dumb, because it blew him up and his team's chances in that important game (and maybe for the year). What the great one's do is manage and control their violently aggressive tendencies with game awareness. They understand that the real objective is to beat, not kill the opponent. That is a pretty tall order and thats why while many may be called, few are chosen. Looking like the great N. Suh will not make that roster.
  3. Exactly. That guy's arm just happened to be where Suh was stomping. As Suh himself will tell you (over and over again) he's misunderstood. And he did apologize, let me see if I can get this straight, "for putting the refs in a position to hurt the team". This guy is very immature or very stupid or both.
  4. The gig is up. Chan put Fitz in a position to succeed, but now the opposition has made the necessary adjustments. Chan, and Fitz, cannot counter with a different scheme because Fitz lacks the required physical skill set to make the necessary throws. "Smoke and mirrors" as Chan himself has said, meaning not enuf substance. Bills will draft a QB in round one if someone they like is there when they pick.
  5. Super dumb move. Hurt his team today bigtime. Makes me think again about Vontaze Burfict. Love the aggression/violence. Hate the lack of discipline.
  6. If you are Buddy Nix (or the Buffalo Bills) and you do not sign Steve Johnson to a multi-year deal, you are an idiot. Johnson is better than Michael Crabtree (remember him/2009 draft) and one of the top #2 receivers in the NFL. Pair him with a legitimate # 1 (and a good passer) and you probably get a hybrid # 1-2 in terms of performance. Plus you need to send a message to the guys on your roster and to FAs. He's a Bill. He needs to stay a Bill. He needs to get paid.
  7. Give him another O-Line and some different wideouts and he will fail. Why? Cause he just can't make the throws. Its that simple. He's not a good passer.
  8. ok, I sort of buy into this. Gailey developed a scheme to suit what Fitz (and our WRs and our O-Line) could do. Slants, screens etc...timing patterns. But what happens when the opposition figures it out? Logically you would counter their adjustments but Ah - there's the rub. Fitz does not have the ability to stretch the field, even if he had receivers who could separate from press coverage. So where do you go from here? You go find yourself a QB who can make all the throws (or at least most of them). With things being what they are, there is a chance we have not seen the worst yet. BTW he does not throw a particularly good slant either. Off target frequently, no touch. He is not a good passer.
  9. ...and don't forget the women's volleyball from Formosa
  10. Missed this game, but have seen him play seven times. Loved his game against USC. Said to myself, "if you are so great, prove it". He proved it. Hey Barkley is pretty decent too.
  11. When the Bills had their fast start, Buddy said his biggest concern was lack of depth. I agree. Good teams, like the Pack, are better able to manage injury to starting players. That was obvious last year. I doubt that our strength & conditioning coaches are at fault. Almost every team loses key players for all or a substantial part of the year. Having a supporting cast that is ready and able to play makes all the difference. We are competitive when fully healthy. As a young/rebuilding team, not so much when we are not.
  12. I didn't realize I seemed to be feigning concern. What he does is all him, I dont really care about his retirement plan at all. My comment was directed at how ridiculous your previous post was, as if a few hundred thousand isn't a lot for a guy on a rookie deal... A guy with real health issues, given his concussion history. Seems like a reckless approach. After taxes, agent fees, etc.... That 25k night you see the one receipt from is probably damn near a tenth of what he took home that year. Not pocket change yet - as allegedly he's out of money and has a credit card with drew rosenhaus on the billing address right now. Nothing in life is certain (except death and taxes) and really there are no guarantees. So every day all of us act on the basis of the preponderance of probabilities, as we perceive them. D.Jackson perhaps feels that, all things considered, in particular his future in football, a couple of 100K is really all that much money. And you know I'll bet Drew Rosenhaus is pretty sure he is going to be repaid whatever he is owed. And I'll even go a step further. I've got $5 (or $5000) to say that, if indeed that is Jackson's conjecture, he's absolutely right. Interested? And of course you were not feigning concern. The point was you actually had no concern. To busy pontificating on the kid's alleged recklessness. Hope it made you feel better.
  13. David Nelson is a good slot receiver. I've seen him take some big hits and make some plays this year. No alligator arms. He's tough and he takes his job seriously. So why should anyone be offended if he shows his girl a little affection. Not the sort of thing you would expect Iron Mike or Ty Cobb to do, but this is the 21st century.
  14. ok. Another reason not to feel sorry for him. In fact I'm starting to wish I was him instead of me.
  15. He's an absolutely fantastic football player, arguably the best right now, and seems to be a great guy as well. Hard not to admire him.
  16. Well, you know, it is what it is. Lots of bad things can happen. Somehow I don't really think your concern for D. Jackson (and his blown out knee) is all that genuine. And its his money. He can do with it what he pleases, including spend it unwisely or throw it into lake Erie for that matter.
  17. At least he spends his own money. A few years ago a few Barclay's bankers spent 48,000 pounds sterling for lunch. Stuff hit the fan when they tried to expense it. They were fired. By the way, a couple of 100 k is not the big deal the reporter is making it out to be. If you are D. Jackson its really only pocket change. Still, no doubt thses guys need to manage their money, and its something they cannot do for themselves.
  18. Spiller will be just fine IMO. He is perhaps slow to develop but I believe he will. But he was drafted into a difficult situation with Lynch and Jackson on the team and he was also placed in a difficult position by Gailey looking to put him ahead of Jackson earlier this year. Jackson was already an established player when that happened. Multiple 1000 yard seasons with a jersey hanging in Canton. Don't know whether Gailey was just trying to motivate Jackson (hardly seems necessary since he is the world's greatest self starter) or, more likely Spiller, who seemed at the end of last year to have lost confidence. Unfortunately whatever the intention, it angered Jackson, who is a 30 year old RB who has been stuffed by the system and just looking to be paid what he is worth, which is a lot more than he is earning. CJ is a nice young man who respects his elders, which means he pretty much had to step back from the role Chan was envisioning for him (even if Chan was not really serious about it)rather than assert himself and appear ridiculous. I like what I've seen of Spiller this year. He is aclimating to the pro game. IMO in two years people will not be thinking bust. Quite the contrary. He could very well be tearing it up. As for Maybin, well thats a very different story.
  19. Exactly right IMO. Every effort should be made to retain Steve Johnson. He deserves a lucrative contract. You would be paying for one of the very best #2 wideouts in the game. Given that the Bills are a team needing talent, and you are trying to build something here, you maybe even pay him something more than the going rate. But he is clearly not a premier, #1 receiver.
  20. A curse on both their houses! Schazammm!!! There its done.
  21. Fitz has said that he will not shut down DRs side of the field, and I believe him and I think that is probably the right thing to do. I expect the "quick release gunslinger who always knows where he's going" vs the best cover corner in football to be an interesting matchup of two good football minds. As for Cromartie, yeah he's dangerous but he can also be beaten.
  22. Yeah I never heard anything about a rape at USC. Linky? Sanchez is a better player than people around here give him credit for IMO, and looks to me like he is only getting better in spite of the Jests so-so season thus far. Having said that I hope the marcellosaurus smothers him on Sunday.
  23. All I know is the guys the centre of attention on MNF and the current package is the best they have had since Dandy Don and Howard.
