Sure, but few pro talent guys predicted that Russell Wilson could play at this level too tho clearly he can. I guess my point is that most scouts and GMs can't think outside the box and are overly reliant on measurables. Clearly there are a few who are capable of taking a more comprehensive, less limiting view - like Seattle's GM. Hope our guys can demonstrate the same ability because I agree we need help at a number of positions.

Vontaze ran a horrible 40 and is getting some consideration as DROY. Bengals think he can move back inside if RM is not returning. Teo is a lot better than Burfict.

CJ is the quickest back in space that I can remember ever having seen. Not comparing him to anyone though. There are a number of great backs. Each one is in a class by himself IMO. My personal fav is Gale Sayers. Who knows maybe CJ will someday make it into that select group, but it is unlikely. He's a hell of a back tho.

A decent argument. Lots of fans like Gailey's O. And your comments are in line with Gailey's often stated opinion that you pass to set up the run (though whether he actually does that is debatable). The flaw in the ointment tho is your belief that Fitz can execute it. He is inaccurate, erratic, inconsistent and unable to produce in the clutch (other than producing INTs). You are also right about his lack of arm strength. The point tho is that if you are not a threat to go over the top and take your shots the spread O will be easily defended by an NFL defence. And further with regard to Gailey, there is, as you say, poor player personnel evaluation, as well as poor in game decision making and clock management, and inability to motivate players.

Also found that to be an odd comment, especially from someone who knows him well. People who are essentially open and frank by nature simply do not morph late in life into inscrutable and Byzantine personalities. Rex won't and can't change. Same for Belly. They are opposites.

I agree. Rex is a great guy and great DC. Unlike Belly he's a human being. Would love to see him in BLO. With respect to Gailey, I don't think he is loyal to a fault. I think his "loyalty" to Fitz has mostly to do with his having sold him to Buddy and Ralph for 60 million garbanzos. Probably has more to do with his own perception of his legacy as an OC who can turn chickenpoo into chicken salad at the QB position.

The Jets. From a GM perspective they gave up lots to pick him where they did and last year went out and foolishly guaranteed his 2013 contract. In terms of player development also the Jets. Fitz is, and always has been, what he is. A suitable backup QB. Sanchez certainly had more upside if handled properly.

Maybe the Finns are jockeying for a better draft position. Smart. Colts, those losers, tanked a whole season, not just two meaningless games, in order to win for the next 10 or 12. Players should always play hard, even if only for pride. But that's not to say that the brain trust should not take executive action. Reality is a dirty business.

That a great QB, as opposed to a bad one, will improve the results of a team with an incompetent HC is a high probability proposition. Hardly worth debating tho and somewhat beside the point.

You were right the first time. This time, not so much. HC in the NFL is a very tough assignment. It's not surprising that relatively few people do it well. It demands many different altitudes and abilities. Almost all of which Chan has regrettably demonstrated he does not possess.

Right, and for that reason the continuity argument is bogus. Note that they are not coming out and saying that Chan's a good coach. And if Chan is not a good coach you will inevitably lose continuity anyway. So why do they want to keep this guy around in the first place. Assuming they really do, what's the true reason?

Oh I was just thinking of all the great players we consistently passed on in favour of lesser talents on in all but one of the last dozen or so drafts. A draft record like that is actually not all over the league. But yeah a few teams have been as bad I guess. The Rams come to mind.

True. Many Rams fans disagreed with his being cut loose. He had a hammy in camp and Fisher wanted to send a message about toughness in preseason practices ala Eagles and Steeler. If he stays healthy that was a huge miss by the FO. Demario has said that he had a great workout and based on the Bills reactions he was sure he was going to be signed. I wonder who at OBD put the kibosh on it.
