  1. Expecting Marrone to fire Hackett is like asking him to commit suicide. For all we know Hackett might actually be a genius OC but for the fact that he is charged with implementing Doug's 19th century philosophy of offense. I hope this "evaluation that's going on is more than just a pro for a due diligence.
  2. I think this is quite possible. He looked really disgusted a lot of the time. Maybe he just didn't want to sign up for more of this. And maybe this O is actually worse than we think it is. Could be more to it than just the O-line sucking badly. A lot of those questions will be answered in 2015 if the current coaching staff returns.
  3. Plus he's got only one stripe on his pajamas. Runs around in the shower to get wet. Stands sideways and you can't see him. Yeah I'd bring him in if available for insignificant value. Maybe even a fifth. Would rather land Bradford.
  4. Exactly what this receiving corps needs to go from good to elite.
  5. With decades worth of evidence to inform us it should be readily apparent to all that the Bills are totally clueless when it comes drafting/developing QBs.
  6. Idk that panic is the right word. Maybe pressure with an impending ownership change is better. Regardless, to me it actually began in the 2013 draft when a team that had foolishly neglected the QB position for decades was forced to pick one high in a bad class. Sometimes bad management combines with bad luck to create the perfect train wreck.
  7. I think Watkins was the best receiver prospect going into the draft. I still think he is the best and most complete player in a very good WR class. I think over time he will be a lot like and as good as Larry Fitzgerald. That's awefully good. Best offensive talent in the draft (Mack the best defensive talent). We're it to be done over however I would think one of the other blue chip receivers plus moving up for Bridgewater would have been better. All hindsight of course and there is no way the Bills were going to pick QBs in the first round in consecutive drafts. Should have, but would not have, either through want of skill in evaluating QBs, lack of courage in moving on from the prior drafts mistake, politics etc...
  8. Jim Kelly or Fran Tarkenton? What's the point? When guys are that good each is in a class by himself. Just wish we could see someone like that in a Bills uni.
  9. I agree. I saw on TV where wolverines are supposed to be intelligent animals. But if that's wrong I hope Doug takes his love child OC with him.
  10. I agree. It's not fair. You have to look at his whole body of work...oh wait!!!
  11. And what about the guy in the sky calling plays? Did you forget about him? You nailed it.
  12. Agree 100% Doug is a dufus Sean is the real deal. A consummation devoutly to be wished.
  13. Exactly right and well said. I would only add that Marrone is of the same mindset. They are the same guy. Makes me wonder how far ahead we would be without Nate if Doug is still around.
  14. Orton needs a really good O-line. Give him one and he can be effective. We have a terrible line, esp crap for guards
  15. Which half the time he doesn't even do. Good thing he's good at onside kicks. Oh wait...
  16. Of course. High octane passing attack with no one to light the fire.
  17. Whatever the reason exactly, they need a legit deep threat. Nothing against Goodwin but not sure he's the answer. This guy is as fast and is bigger. The guy replacing Corderelle P in Minny is also a similar looking undrafted player. Get a reliable deep threat and a decent pass catching TE and Bills passing attack is very high octane.
  18. They absolutely need a WR who can stretch the field. Among other things.
  19. Good measurables. Burner. But can he run routes and how are his hands?
  20. He's a great player, a complete player at his position sorta like Freddie. Took out two guys on Hogan's TD. Is a asset in what is essentially the run game (screens), is a possession receiver and can stretch the field. Best WR in a strong draft class. I don't pretend to know today whether giving up the extra first was the right move, but I'm confident in my own mind that he is totally outstanding and good enuf to have gone 1 overall.
  21. Snyder ha ha what a comedic genius. I hope he fires Gruden only to see the good people of Washington hang him from a tree in 2015 as Robert continues to crap out. Heck we could hire Gruden as OC.
  22. Gotcha. I was quibbling over your use of the word talent. I gather that you meant it to be read as synonymous with throwing a beautiful ball and being a terrific athlete rather than ability as a pro quarterback. Thanks for clarifying that for my benefit. In my view being a world class athlete is way down in the laundry list of things that make up a franchise quarterback, the things that RG3 badly lacks. It is, in effect, only a nice to have and to be lightly weighted as a factor in envisioning the total package.
  23. Great post John. But I think you confuse "great athleticism" with "talent" (for playing the position). In a world where all the players are above average athletically, there is little if any correlation between the two. How many starting QBs are known principally for their athleticism? How many genuine franchise guys?
