  1. Well I sort of feel the same way, except that Rex is a great motivator and a player's coach. If he can coexist with Schwartz and bring in a solid OC it might add value after all. If Pegs is into writing lots of big cheques I'd take Kubiak on a lateral before Trestman for sure and maybe ahead of Roman too.
  2. I thought he said he wasn't doing interviews until the Ravens were done.
  3. And not just today. His play calls against Pittsburg were a thing of beauty.
  4. I like Rex but we've already got a top shelf DC. I fail to see what Rex would add to the equation here. I understand why Atlanta would be interested in his talents tho. We need a specialist on the other side of the ball as HC/OC and somebody like Joe D to turn that line around.
  5. If Whaley is pushing EJ on prospective coaches then he needs to be fired immediately.
  6. I agree. They have to go all out to do whatever is necessary to get a serviceable QB - Hoyer, Bradford, Moore, Locker, etc...With a good HC/OC and a good O-line coach this team would seriously contend for a playoff spot in 2015. I have doubts tho concerning Whaley's ability to identify QB talent. Linebackers yes, QBs, not so much.
  7. What makes the most sense to me is that he didn't get the control/commitment from the owner that he wanted and when that happened he chose to leave. Basically I think he was stuck in a war with Whaley and the rest of FO and scouting. I believe he thought that he had won that war and when Pegs, to Doug's surprise, refused to limit his own options, he got his nose out of joint and walked. 4 million free dollars made it easier to do. He probably had it in mind to neutralize or do an end around the FO and gain more control as early as last year before the 2014 draft. His former assistant at Cuse (Casullo) says he charts his course well in advance and I believe that. Basically it's Doug's way or the highway and this time that played out with him hitting the road.
  8. Apparently not enuf for some folks.
  9. A smart man doesn't draft him.
  10. Hmmm...Jets get Marrone and Hackett. We get a 4 million dollar windfall, Marrone is out the same amount and we get a franchise QB. Me likey.
  11. Not smart if he facilitates a tampering charge. Quite the opposite.
  12. Hmmm...interesting. I wonder what constitutes proof for these purposes. Everybody seems to be liar capable of perjuring himself. If Woody pleads the fifth is that good enuf?
  13. With a 10 million dollar contract in his back pocket lol.Talk about dodging a speeding bullet.
  14. Maybe but if in fact they did tamper in privately telling DM the Jets job was his, isn't Woody between a rock and a hard place? I hope it's true and we move up to # 6. Back in the QB derby sooner than expected.
  15. Not happening of course but if you were looking for a motive it could only be to lead the Bills to a championship thus proving beyond any shadow of a doubt that he's the M. Ali of QBs. Sort of like what Joe almost did in KC.
  16. I keep hearing that Marrone and Schefter have the same agent, presumably Sexton. Is that the case. Does a player/coach/executive agent represent journalists too? Seems odd to me.
  17. Only part of our kicking game that actually works consistently.
  18. He's got a funny delivery. I wouldn't call it a hitch, more like loading motion. Makes me wonder whether he fully engages his lower body and transfers his weight properly.
  19. Oregon may well win this game and a national championship. But I have no doubt who the better pro QB prospect is. It's not that 212 pound spread QB. Mariota.is a fine college QB tho, don't get me wrong.
  20. Why not. Are you a Jets fan? Marrone will turn that team into the NFL's biggest sinkhole. The media sharks will have a field day at his post game pressers. By about game 6 of the 2015 season the firedougmarrone threads will begin. I'm seriously looking forward to it all. Mucho hilarity soon to come. I agree. Casserly (and Wolf) are advising Woody. Casserole loves Marrone. An interview has now been set. I have little doubt there was communication of some kind. Unlikely someone would walk from a HC gig unless he was pretty sure of landing somewhere else.
  21. I agree with the "he did nothing" part.
  22. Exactly what I was thinking. If it's Brandon he needs to go asap.
  23. Sure. People make mistakes all the time, especially NFL owners and GMs. If folks were fine with hiring Dick Jauron, why not Saint Doug.
  24. The only insightful comment in your post is that Marrone feels (indeed knows because he is calling the shots) that he and Hackett share the same (smart?) offensive philosophy. They have been together for five years. They are the same guy. And unfortunately the philosophy is not smart. It's dumb and pathetically antiquated. I don't think Marrone is capable of working with a fully empowered OC who is his own man. Firing Hackett is a red herring anyway. His boss is the problem.
