Raiders are open to trading Davante Adams
starrymessenger replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think Adam's will be playing on his existing contract next year with a new ream regardless of where he winds up. 44MM cap hit for a 33 year old receiver (assuming his healthy and good to go). His deal will get reworked. Jets could afford even the 44 (they have over 80MM in cap space for 2025), but they already have good WRs. They aren't going anywhere without o-line help with or without Davante. -
Week 4 - Bills at Ravens Game Week Thread
starrymessenger replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lamar and Henry are major weapons in the run game but they are known quantities that we have managed to defend in the past. In the passing game they rely on their TEs a lot. This guy Likely worries me. Haven't seen a lot of him but he looks like a great player in his breakout year. He just looks a cut above the rest when on the field in the way great players do. I think he's becoming a big time playmaker. We better not sleep on him. -
Could be. I remember that Clemson team was ridiculous.

Some say Trevor lacks a necessary intangible component, specifically the commanding drive to be great the way PM and Allen are driven. Good guy, not a slagger in any way, very talented but not the guy you want to bet the franchise on.

Figuring out whether a college QB's game will work in the pros seems to be a total crapshoot (and I agree common sense suggests that perhaps it shouldn't be). Bryce Young looks like a child trying to play a man's game but the majority of the professional talent evaluators and commentators saw him as a totally credible #1 pick overall. Jags just paid TL a quarter of a billion dollars and his game has fallen apart, he's lost his eight straight starts. He was compared to Luck coming into the league as a 100% can't miss prospect. The worse thing you can do is put a rookie QB, no matter how talented, behind a bad O-line. I think NE is doing the right thing with Maye. In Chicago they went for extra weapons (Odunze) rather than for O line help and Williams is getting buried. They are also finding out that CW is not as pro ready as was advertised and there is real concern about potential character issues. I think some of this should have received more consideration leading up to the draft. Looks like many people, including some teammates basically don't like the guy. Has a high opinion of himself and is dismissive of others. That's not the intangibles you want and need from your QB. Unless the guy finds some humility I'd see his character as a significant risk factor. Chicago may find out they were better off with Fields.

AFC impact - OT TRENT Brown out for season
starrymessenger replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
So what. They can't even beat bad teams. -
As for the other QB last night, he's looking like a bigger but not better Bryce Young. Ok so maybe not that bad but he has lost his last 8 starts. All that for a quarter billion bucks. Wow. There are some sad franchises out there with very expensive seriously underperforming QBs. On a positive note Jayden Daniels looks every bit a franchise guy. What a crapshoot drafting QBs is.

We have the best player in the league

We shall see. Ravens will be a great test. They rank 3rd or 4th in DVOA. -

Josh is a great QB, one of the best ever, but this offence is as much the result of Brady's creativity as a game planner and play caller. Dorsey's numbers were good but that was all Josh. Dorsey was not good. Brady has unlocked Allen's previously untapped potential and taken his game to another, higher level. If this keeps up Brady will be regarded as one of the best up and coming young coaches in the league. Would hate to lose him. -

Bengals are already done imo. They have seriously regressed, especially on D. Burrow had a good night but was helped out by defensive play calls that had a rookie corner in man on Chase twice, predictably resulting in two scores. Burrow is good but unlike Josh Allen he needs to be surrounded by great players to look good. -
Agree the back judge had a poor view of the play. But there are six other officials on the field. And there is League Headquarters. Basically millions of people saw exactly what happened but not one official? We do have the technology to make it right. Why not use it? And if that was a make up for a bad call on Chris Jones (he did throw a fit), it only makes the whole thing worse.
-
The "make up" call on McDuffie was BS. This is what is so pathetic and disturbing about NFL refereeing. They know they made a huge mistake (nobody is perfect, I get it) so they go and make matters worse by knowingly making a garbage call, as though they were somehow making things better. In fact it is flat out dishonest and just goes to show that they have and deserve no credibility. A blown call is bad, an intentionally fraudulent penalty call is actually worse. No wonder people question their integrity. They cheapen the game. Dont see why PI calls and even non-PI calls cannot be reviewable.

Bryce Young already benched in Carolina
starrymessenger replied to mushypeaches's topic in The Stadium Wall
Looks like there is room for only one midget QB in the NFL and he plays in Zona (and is a much better athlete). I mean 5’9” and 170 lbs? Really? -
There was a lot of miscommunication between Tua and his second tier receivers. The receiver didn't turn his head quick enuf so the ball bounced off of him. Not on Tua. Chosen ran a hook when Tua was thinking deep out or back shoulder. It was likely not the bad Tua overthrow it seemed to be.
-
Looked to me like McDaniel invested too heavily in the run game. That seemed to be in their gameplan even with Mostert out and their second best back active but injured.
-
If you go with a smaller, faster D you probably run a greater risk of injury. Our top shelf players who have been sidelined, Milano, Bernard and Johnson are smaller guys. That is McD's D and it's a good one so you run with the risk. One way to mitigate that risk is with a strong bench of backup players. They have been very good so far (except the first half v Zona) and if they hold up then the coaching staff (and the GM) deserve a lot of credit for grooming these guys and for realizing the importance of having people who can step in especially when you run the D they do. I look forward to the day when the D is back at full strength. It should be very solid.
-
And Tua didn't need to dive. He could have slid and gotten the first down. He's supposed to know what yardage he needs and where he's at on the field. The fact that it wasn't a big hit shows how susceptible Tua is to concussions. It's his decision once he's through protocol but if the risk of permanent disability is serious, which seems to be the case, I think he would be well advised to walk from the game. If that's what he does I'm happy for hiim especially since he got paid and that the Dolphins have to fill that Florida sinkhole with $200M that might have been better spent on D.

I get the draft strategy and don't disagree. Just as long as it's not a James Hardy/Desean Jackson remake. -
Other Teams Cuts That Might Help the Bills
starrymessenger replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he doesn't stick as the backup in Denver I'd take a flier on Zach Wilson. His physical skills for playing the position are far greater than anything we've got backing up Allen. He's looked very good (admittedly against 2nds and 3rds) behind a better O-line he had with Jets.
