  1. In his rookie year I believe he only started 2 games and wound up with 5.5 sacks and was pretty good vs the run - all with his hands in the dirt. He had 6.5 sacks last year starting something like 15 games, but two came when lined up inside. He's a lot like Mario (though of course not as good) in terms of his preferences re how he lines up. He's a pretty good player and for a team looking to play him in a friendly scheme his coming onto the market like he did represents a bargain opportunity for such a team - subject to the injury concern - he's definitely not worth 7.8 M per, especially if he's not playing.
  2. Let's be sensible, shall we? SW was the consensus # 1 WR in his draft class, so the risk of his being a bad wideout is greatly reduced. That doesn't mean that his selection by the Bills shows that they know how to evaluate WRs. To the contrary, the argument is that they essentially lazed out, even before you get into the price they paid, which further substantiates that they really aren't very good at it. How about finding a Marvin Jones in the fifth, a Rueben Randle in the third, Victor Cruz, John Brown, Antonio Brown in the sixth, Martavius Bryant etc... all later in the draft - even before you get into taking Graham just ahead of TY Hilton for example. When Woods fell in the draft they did well to land him in the second. He is a good (not great) wideout. But that's hardly enuf to say they are good at evaluating WRs. They are not.
  3. Couples is a legit hands in the dirt NFL DE. He's too slow (despite his fast 40) in coverage as an OLB. That (and the injury guarantee) is probably why the Jets sat and then cut him. I'm a little surprised in Rex's interest because it was Rex who moved him out of position in 2013 and Rex, like Bowles, was not happy with the results.
  4. He's not a bad player and deserves a roster spot. Plus he doesn't break the bank. But lots of other teams ie Pittsburgh, Zona, Cinci etc... seem to find much better WRs to work in his spot later in the draft or even UDFAs. And the Bills always seems to wind up with the lesser lights instead, track guys who are not football players, lacrosse players... Bills are not really very good at scouting and drafting WRs. A bit like QBs, but without the excuse that they are really hard to find.
  5. The team they fielded last night, especially on O, was greatly diminished by injuries. Unless they can sort their O-line and WR issues they are not winning any championship this year, that's for sure. Flip side is that we were still not good enuf to beat them, meaning we have a long way still to go.
  6. Depends on whether Chad Kelly declares and what round he goes in.
  7. QB has got to be the issue. Either Taylor just can't get it done (yet, and maybe ever) or Roman is wrong not to trust him more than he does. I suspect Tyrod is the problem. Regardless of the reason, not using your main weapon in the passing game is hardly the best way to go. I mean Antonio Brown attracts the opposition's best corner who almost always gets support from a high safety. Brown still makes plays. Watkins is a comparable talent. The difference is between Ben and Tyrod. It may well be that Taylor is really more a high end backup/change of pace type guy at this level. I guess we will see.
  8. Definitely a # 1 corner. Got to like the kid, UDFA and all. Wish we had scooped him.
  9. Michael's just out of the picture gettin ready for action. Hermaphrodite of the year!
  10. This game is going take a different than expected turn. Either a much closer game than anticipated or Bills win with a relatively comfortable margin.
  11. I was always pretty skeptical about EJ and I don't disagree with the move but I derive no satisfaction from this. Wish him well with his new team.
  12. I thought his rookie deal ended 2015. Kudos to the Bengals for getting him in the fifth round. Wonder why he dropped when his size and combine numbers were good.
  13. He's a great athlete and a very good WR. Hard nosed guy who has delivered several bone jarring blocks that I've noticed, including the bad call block on Poz that really was perfectly executed. Thing of beauty. The guy is completely solid. Bills should extend him and maybe look at bringing in Marvin Jones (who is just flat out better than Percy).
  14. Ok I'll take your word for it. I get that he's huge but I don't like his footwork, what looks like a lack of leverage (maybe because of his 6'8" frame) and my fear and belief that he would be nothing better than an absolute turnstile against NFL pass rushers, especially speed rushers. What he projects to me as is possibly a decent RT at the next level, at best. While the O-line is obviously a good place to upgrade I really don't know that I'd want to spend our first round pick on that guy when I think there will have to be better value available in that spot.
  15. Buckeye followers may well know better, but Taylor Decker does not look like a top shelf LT prospect to me.
  16. I think you have to cut Whaley to cut EJ. Joined at the hip.
  17. Cassell does not gift wrap 21 points for the Jags. With Cassell under centre we win this game easily. Whaley is good evaluating defensive talent. He is atrocious when it comes to the other side of the ball. You need to be good on both sides. He needs to go because he should not be involved in drafting the next QB.
