  1. 26 I've filed this one away for future reference.
  2. I think there is a real chance Tyrod does not start after the break. If he can't do what the OC and others have asked, and there is no reason to think that he can, I just don't think this staff will stick with him. They have no committment to him and they may want to see what Peterman can do i.e. ideally as a starter/placeholder after they get their guy next year. The QB needs to have good chemistry with his receivers to run a WC offence variant and for Tyrod thats a tall order, especially when having to deal with NFL corners, safeties and outside LBs. It just isn't easy to do, even if your name is Brady or Manning. If it can be learned I hope Tyrod figures it out. If he does, this O can make some noise.
  3. Yeah, if he hasn't lost a step this guy makes the team imo and is a useful addition.
  4. Or just drop a f#%*in house on her already.
  5. What's in a name? Maybe a lot. Scaramuccia is a stock clown character and low rascal of early Italian comedy. Trumpery designates a flashy thing of little or no actual value.
  6. I'm not going to sour on the new braintrust for shipping Cardale out. It would take a lot more than that and I hope I never get there. I thought their draft was very good and for now I'm drinking the koolaid. As for Cardale, the trade should be a positive for him. He looks to be a good kid and I wish him all the success in the world (except if he is under center versus the Bills). He sure has all the physical tools needed to get it done. As is so often the case, his success or failure will depend more on what he has got going for him above the shoulders.
  7. Wrongly IMO. Jones is going to be good. Very good. He's versatile. Can play inside and out. Trading up to nab him was a great move.
  8. Or if Tyrod is unable to execute the OCs offence, in which case Peterman may well be starting at some point this year. I hope it all comes together for Tyrod this year, and sitting and learning gives NP his best chance of developing, but if TT fails to improve I don't think this staff will stick with him the way Whaley did with EJ.
  9. The Peterman snaps from that game are really a must see for Bills fans. Its a Zay Jones highlight reel (with commentary from Mayock and Jeremiah) & Peterman impresses as well.
  10. Whatever the reason its pretty clear that the Bills have lacked a consistent vision for what they want to be and a recognizable identity year over year. The good, winning teams all have that and the best ones have it most. So I have no problem with the notion of fastening onto a consistent model, having a vision for the kind of team you want to be and adhering to it. It also obviously makes perfect sense therefore for the head coach and the front office to be on the same page (along with everyone else for that matter) but I wouldn't want a GM who was subordinate to the HC and who basically had nothing to add. You want a strong personality in that role and at the end of the day there is a division of functions/responsibilities that needs to be respected. I don't know anything about Beane but I'm not sold on the idea of having the GM owe his job to the HC. He should owe it to the owner who actually hired him. And I also have a concern about the Pegulas falling too hard too fast. Can only hope that they struck gold this time because they were definitely "buffaloed" by Rex the last time.
  11. Lombardi is making a lot of sense here. I think we are now at long last on the right track.
  12. Not worried about Clay. He is a team guy and a much better player than many people seem to think. My question is will Tyrod be able to find any of these receiving options consistently.
  13. He has to get better at the things he already does well. In the NFL game speed is a lot faster and the windows are a lot smaller. If he can do that he has a chance to be good and play a long time. If he cant he will almost certainly bust.
  14. Only had 2/3 the targets last year compared with productive 2015. Wonder if the Browns woes at QB had more to do with decline in production than performance, and I tend to think so. So he's a good and proven commodity and it would be great if we could land him. Also a class guy and someone coach knows well from their time together.
  15. For what its worth (not much) I think his ceiling is A. Smith. Or he might be valuable as a long term backup maybe a notch above Fitz. Either result (especially the first) would be fantastic value for a fifth round pick. Or he might just bust of course, which is probably more likely. He is an intriguing prospect though and even as such I feel he was a good 5th round selection. Except for passing on Foster I like the Bills draft.
  16. With Sammy its never been a question of motivation. Hes a gamer. No dog in him. With him its all and only about his health. I think Sammy is in a good spot. If he is healthy and good to go he will be signing a big contract at the end of this year. He wont play under the F-tag if he was good enough in 2017 for the Bills to otherwise want to exercise it. So the Bills lose leverage. If the Bills sign him up long term they lose another year (2018) to evaluate his durability before taking the plunge. Another reason he wont sign a tag IMO. Bills position makes sense only if the risk of ongoing debilitating injury is very significant.
  17. He wont be playing under the F-tag IMO. If he has the kind of year he is capable of he will be signing his long term mega deal. Only question becomes where. Thats why the Bills not extending him through 2018 is probably good for Sammy.
  18. The real risk and downside here is if Sammy heals up, has a great year (which I would then expect) gets his nose out of joint and refuses to play in Buffalo in 2018 or ever again. Of course the Bills medical staff may know something we don't but his rehab is said to be on schedule. In order to get the payday his talent deserves Sammy needs to show up in 2017. Thats a big reason I see him doing well. Mega money is a huge incentive. If that happens I could see him wanting to ink his big deal somewhere else and getting on with his life.
  19. Yeah passing on Foster was a mistake IMO.
  20. Not what I would do. If healthy he is elite. I think he may well have a monster year - in which case he will almost certainly be gone. Wonder if coach is trying too hard to sever ties with the past and make this his team.
  21. Well I guess if we were looking to tank we could try starting Peterman. Thing is he could well be such a disaster that you would have no choice but to pull him anyway so why bother. And you sure wouldnt be doing the kid any favours. He needs to sit, learn and hone his basic skillset for a year even taking his "pro readiness" into account. Peterman is not ready to see the field in any capacity right now IMO, let alone as a starter.
  22. I remember seeing some close ups of Trent warming up on the sidelines before that MNF game. He did not look right. A deer in the headlights even before the opening kickoff. I said to myself "this isn't going to end well". I don't think there is much risk of Peterman being another Trent. Peterman looks to attack the defence (maybe too much even-may have to learn how to play within himself). Trent was in mortal fear of the opposing D. Totally different animal.
  23. I don't know if Peterman will develop. I dont think anyone knows that yet. He does some things well that are hard to teach/learn and that you don't often see in a young QB. But he will not only have to continue to do those things well - he will have to improve on them. And he will have to be more consistent because his performance is uneven. He can make some great throws but also some lousy ones. When he tries to do too much ball security (piks and fumbles) appear to be an issue. As one would expect, he needs to up his game if he is going to suceed. I don't think he is Trent however and I think he comes to the NFL with a better skill set, better mobility and a much more aggressive frame of mind. Trent was occasionally adequate early in his pro career but he was never a dynamic player. Peterman may be a guy who can make things happen if it all comes together for him.
  24. After looking at his snaps from a number of games I'm impressed with him. Like almost all rookie QBs I see him as a developmental player who is not ready to start on most teams, including the Bills. He might be effective relatively quickly in say the Cowboys O assuming that he can deal with the speed and step up in competition. I think if he was pressured to start too early it could get pretty ugly pretty fast what with the turnovers. In order to succeed he needs to continue to do the things that he already does well but against better competition and he needs to do them with greater consistency than he did in college. That is a pretty tall order, given that his execution can already be spotty at the college level . IMO he is athletic enuf to play the position in the NFL. When his mechanics are good and he sets up properly he looks to me to have enuf arm, not a gun but probably enuf to make the throws. His mechanics are often disrupted by pressure, and some of that is on his O line. His receivers also drop some well placed balls. Don't know how those units were ranked. As with almost all rooks the question is whether he is trending up or has pretty much already reached his ceiling. I don't think you can know the answer to that question until things play out. To me his ceiling is starter, and his floor is low end backup. I'm hoping he can develop of course. He is an interesting prospect.
