  1. A healthy Chad Pennington is his ceiling imo. Don't know if he will get there. DK has really looked good at times in Cleveland. Has shown accuracy and has thrown with anticipation not to mention athleticism/arm strength.
  2. Peterman's numbers don't jump off the page in a positive way, but I have to wonder if Dak would have looked any better as a raw rook behind this line and with this receiver corps, or, alternatively how much better Peterman would have looked in his first camp behind Dallas's line and with Dez, Whitten etc... I've never had any confidence in Tyrod being able to run a WC offence or any variant thereof. So my view and prediction has pretty much always been that if healthy Tyrod starts the year, proves he can't do it, fans clamour for Peterman and he starts after or around the bye. This also gives the kid at least a chance to get ready (or readier than if he started game 1). Year is going to be a write off in terms of ability to compete now imo. Rebuild is already in progress. Looking forward to next year's draft. Would like another 3rd (bye Holmes).
  3. I get it but presumably there is pressure, sometimes lots of it in big college conferences. If the guy just can't deal with the mental aspect then he's not going to make it. How does one reliably project whether a college kicker will have the necessary psychological makeup. Does the difficulty in assessing this account for the fact that kickers, no matter how good in college, are typically late round or undrafted guys?
  4. If you can kick the ball in college what is it that stops you from doing it in the pros. I must be missing some fine points of the pro kicking game.
  5. Agree. Hahahahaha...
  6. Watkins is an elite talent but I agree with you. The new brain trust will make or break based on how they draft, especially next year. I liked this years draft so lets just say I'm optimistic.
  7. I'm more concerned with wanting to see a little more zip on some intermediate throws than the long ball. I look forward to seeing more of him in preseason. I think he should be given more snaps/playing time than Yates. In Yates you pretty much know what you have. With NP you don't know yet imo, but it behooves you to find out.
  8. He is just a prospect. What is the thing that you see as so definitely limiting his development? Lack of prototypical physique? EJ, Jamarcus and lots of others had that. What worries me is I thought I saw him staring down his receivers. even if its one read and pull the trigger you cant do that and survive on Sundays.
  9. So 26, is Peterman still TJ Yates with less experience?Looks to me like he has a chance to be the # 1 backup entering the regular season or soon after. I was impressed with him. I would like to see a little more arm strength on certain throws but we all know thats a work in progress. What he showed was consistent with his tape, which is not bad imo. I like his mobility and how he keeps his head up scanning the field on broken plays. Thought he hung in the pocket pretty well when the protection was not completely lacking (which it was on 2 or 3 snaps). Accuracy was ok if a little spotty at times. His mates dropped two passes that were perfectly thrown and that would have extended drives or resulted in scores. To me the best thing is that he seems capable of throwing with anticipation. He can visualize the development of the action. Processing (progressions) remains a big question mark. Against starting calibre defenders a couple of his throws would probably have been picked off. But above the shoulders its pretty clear that he possesses at least some of the attributes of a QB. He's got a long way to go obviously but I wouldn't hurry to any firm conclusions just yet. He might turn out to be more than a career backup. I see him right now as just a notch below JG in NE when that came into the league and everybody sees Jimmy as potential starting material. Do you think Goff or Lynch are that far ahead of NP right now? For sure the Bills are setting up to pick a franchise prospect next year but wouldn't it be nice if they could use that draft capital on other position players. Could really jump start the rebuild.
  10. 26 I've filed this one away for future reference.
  11. I think there is a real chance Tyrod does not start after the break. If he can't do what the OC and others have asked, and there is no reason to think that he can, I just don't think this staff will stick with him. They have no committment to him and they may want to see what Peterman can do i.e. ideally as a starter/placeholder after they get their guy next year. The QB needs to have good chemistry with his receivers to run a WC offence variant and for Tyrod thats a tall order, especially when having to deal with NFL corners, safeties and outside LBs. It just isn't easy to do, even if your name is Brady or Manning. If it can be learned I hope Tyrod figures it out. If he does, this O can make some noise.
  12. Yeah, if he hasn't lost a step this guy makes the team imo and is a useful addition.
  13. Or just drop a f#%*in house on her already.
  14. What's in a name? Maybe a lot. Scaramuccia is a stock clown character and low rascal of early Italian comedy. Trumpery designates a flashy thing of little or no actual value.
  15. I'm not going to sour on the new braintrust for shipping Cardale out. It would take a lot more than that and I hope I never get there. I thought their draft was very good and for now I'm drinking the koolaid. As for Cardale, the trade should be a positive for him. He looks to be a good kid and I wish him all the success in the world (except if he is under center versus the Bills). He sure has all the physical tools needed to get it done. As is so often the case, his success or failure will depend more on what he has got going for him above the shoulders.
  16. Wrongly IMO. Jones is going to be good. Very good. He's versatile. Can play inside and out. Trading up to nab him was a great move.
  17. Or if Tyrod is unable to execute the OCs offence, in which case Peterman may well be starting at some point this year. I hope it all comes together for Tyrod this year, and sitting and learning gives NP his best chance of developing, but if TT fails to improve I don't think this staff will stick with him the way Whaley did with EJ.
  18. The Peterman snaps from that game are really a must see for Bills fans. Its a Zay Jones highlight reel (with commentary from Mayock and Jeremiah) & Peterman impresses as well.
  19. Whatever the reason its pretty clear that the Bills have lacked a consistent vision for what they want to be and a recognizable identity year over year. The good, winning teams all have that and the best ones have it most. So I have no problem with the notion of fastening onto a consistent model, having a vision for the kind of team you want to be and adhering to it. It also obviously makes perfect sense therefore for the head coach and the front office to be on the same page (along with everyone else for that matter) but I wouldn't want a GM who was subordinate to the HC and who basically had nothing to add. You want a strong personality in that role and at the end of the day there is a division of functions/responsibilities that needs to be respected. I don't know anything about Beane but I'm not sold on the idea of having the GM owe his job to the HC. He should owe it to the owner who actually hired him. And I also have a concern about the Pegulas falling too hard too fast. Can only hope that they struck gold this time because they were definitely "buffaloed" by Rex the last time.
  20. Lombardi is making a lot of sense here. I think we are now at long last on the right track.
  21. Not worried about Clay. He is a team guy and a much better player than many people seem to think. My question is will Tyrod be able to find any of these receiving options consistently.
  22. He has to get better at the things he already does well. In the NFL game speed is a lot faster and the windows are a lot smaller. If he can do that he has a chance to be good and play a long time. If he cant he will almost certainly bust.
  23. Only had 2/3 the targets last year compared with productive 2015. Wonder if the Browns woes at QB had more to do with decline in production than performance, and I tend to think so. So he's a good and proven commodity and it would be great if we could land him. Also a class guy and someone coach knows well from their time together.
