  1. Yeah I think it could help motivate them. Sure they know they are hated - and therefore derive special pleasure in rubbing their opponents nose in it. I think it was especially stupid because the Steelers have half a chance at least of beating NE. To me the difference in the Houston game was the quality of the players under centre and really not much else. You can like BR the person or leave him but he too is prolly a HOF guy. Big, big difference.
  2. Have to love Watson's moxy but I think P. Mahomes in the 2nd appeals to me more than him at #10.
  3. And I distinctly recall Drayton Florence delivering exactly the same message to Marcel Dareus lol. So I guess not all hope is lost.
  4. The hire makes plenty of good sense. He's a respected QB guru and they've got what - TS and PL. Also a solid succession planning/continuity play if MMc moves on/up and Musgrave does well. Not to mention Broncos are loaded on both sides of the ball.
  5. This makes sense to me. His intangibles are off the charts terrific and thats important but based on going an admittedly small sample size (in my case) his accuracy is not. He very clearly needs to develop as a passer IMO. There are no guarantees. If the Bills love the guy and think he has a decent chance of developing I could see them rolling the dice at 10. I have a hard time seeing that the risk is worthy of gutting the front end of a couple of drafts to move up.
  6. Not a QB guru by any means (a necessary disclaimer). I admire his toughness. He has the arm too, but accuracy looks inconsistent (which in the end usually winds up meaning inaccurate or not accurate enuf to beat NFL defences). No way IMO is he anywhere close to being ready to start and would need a fair bit of grooming, maybe a couple of years. I realize he has much better intangibles than Geno but as a player he reminds me of that guy. I would see him drafted around the same place as Geno was in terms of value. Maybe the pro talent evaluators know better and think differently, but that is my impression. I guess we will see. Really like Mike Williams tho. That one is easy.
  7. Seeing EJ under centre again yesterday after a lengthy absence brought back real life images of receivers shaking their heads in disbelief after every passing attempt. I had actually forgotten (or maybe repressed that). Maybe I was actually asleep dreaming a horrible nightmare but I thought I saw speech baloons over Watkins, Woods and Clay saying "WTF - where is that ball going?!?!!!"
  8. JG was a second round pick (albeit late). I doubt that the Pats would trade him for less than a first. He has looked good in preseason and in limited in season action. They would know for sure but he certainly looks like he can play. If so I cant imagine them trading him to the Bills. Lynn likes the WC offence and if we had a qb who can execute in that scheme our O (with improvement at RT) could be the best in the league. If they were inclined to trade him I would deal our first pick. With what teams have seen and now know, he would be a first rounder in 2017 IMO.
  9. Plus he showed continuing progression/improvement as a passer year over year. Thats what should catch the evaluators eye. Either he is getting better because of the level of competition or he is one of those guys who just keeps improving at the next level regardless of the step up in the degree of difficulty. Looks like DP fell into the last mentioned group. Thats pretty rare so I don't know if teams can be faulted for passing on him, even though if drafted in 2017 he'd be the first player off the board. On the other hand maybe the guys who get to pull the trigger are too conservative (except for Doug who seems to like to roll the dice, ala EJ in the first type thing).
  10. Tyrod was not great yesterday. He was great in the second half. In other words he was inconsistent. Clay and Watkins had to make great plays on crucial downs where the balls were poorly thrown, and unnecessarily poorly thrown because they were wide open and if memory serves Tyrod was not under extreme pressure. On the other hand he stood his ground while taking big hits and delivered the ball accurately on a number of other throws. That is pretty hard to do. Its what good throwers do. Its certainly true that doing well against secondarys like Browns and Finns are hardly the best indication of development as a passer but then there is his work with Woods in the Seattle game which is also of recent memory. Does this suggest that the arrow on his passing game is trending up? Is the game from the QB perspective slowing down a bit for him? Idk. How much of his not developing as a passer this year due to gameplans that give us the best chance to win rather than Tyrod's development (run the ball and above all take no chances in the passing game). Idk. What I think I do know is that if Tyrod has it in him to be just an adequate passer capable of making the basic throws consistently, has a RT who can pass pro, has a settled and stable working relationship with the same set of receiving options whose reactions he knows and who know his reactions in real time, then the Bills offence would be extremely productive, unquestionably one of the most dynamic in the league. Should the Bills exercise the option on his contract? Idk. My guess is the Bills will do it, especially if its mostly cash and cap not so much.
  11. Why would you be happy to have Wentz as your QB. You've already got Tyrod who is better (according to you) lol. You were an EJ diehard right (and who knows maybe still are). Oh yeah, almost forgot, not his fault, somebody must have ruined him. Nuff said.
  12. Franchise guy. Wonder how the Rams feel about their choice. Their fate was in their hands and they let it slip through their fingers. Did the Iggles know better? Or is it really just a crapshoot?
  13. I like Washington. I think he will develop nicely. Would have preferred Dak in the third tho. No brainer in retrospect.
  14. I agree. I don't think I'd want to see him on the sidelines in game, but I find the idea of using him in the senior position re football ops quite interesting. The Bills are I think lucky to have the ownership now that they do, but the Pegs are not experienced in this business and must be perplexed by all of the infighting going on between the FO and coaching and maybe wondering where the problems really are. Best way to manage that is to have an experienced hand directing both the FO and the coaching (and other aspects of football ops, such as, notably, scouting) and giving the owners their views, reasons and recommendations.Plus TC has family (kids and grandkids in the area) and would likely be at home in Buffalo.
  15. JW was considered, probably with reason, to be the best prospect for playing the position since Luck, and by many to be an almost equivalent talent. Hard to pass on a guy like that if you have a chance of landing him. Glennon may not be the answer but he seems to have the makings of a legit NFL passer. I'd gladly trade Tyrod's 400 yards or so rushing for a guy who can make the basic throws with some consistency. If opposing Ds had to seriously defend the pass our excellent run game would still be there and would quite possibly make up Taylor's run yardage. Adding a credible passing attack could turn the O into a pretty fearsome weapon. And I am in agreement that our WRs and TEs are actually not that bad and that their production could improve significantly if we had a passing game.
  16. He reminds me a lot of Ryan Mallett. Texans should have known better.
  17. Troy Aikman/Emmitt Smith. Dak Prescott/ Ezekial Elliott. Both in the same draft. Thats building a dynasty. Pretty Sweet. Undrafted free agent out of Iowa. Wow.
  18. Yeah but he knows what he's talking about. He just gave a clinic on how not to tackle.
  19. The crossroads deal is supposed to be greatness in this life in exchange for eternal damnation. Looks to me like we traded eternal damnation for mediocrity. Typical FO move.
  20. But should his contract be fully guaranteed in case of injury? Surely an allocation of the risk and associated costs (including opportunity costs) would be more reasonable, especially when what the player really has is a one year tryout as a precondition to a committment for longer term. Mind you I dont have a problem with it either. The fans and the owners will still be there long after the player's career is over.
  21. And regardless the guarantee is inconsistent with a deal structured to give the team an out if they are not satified with the results of the audition. Besides a new coach and front office maybe Pegs also needs a new lawyer. You know, one that remembers to put a substance abuse and suspension clause in Big Stuffs 100 MM deal or doesn't give Marrone 4MM to walk (though I was happy to see him go).
  22. Could well be. Whats more at his age and in his condition I'm sure he would just love foregoing a dome and playing in brutal winter weather come December/January.
  23. I don't know that we should look for WRs based on the need to accommodate the weaknesses of our QB. We overpaid for Sammy partly because Whaley thought the short passing game and YAC that Sammy excelled at when at Clemson would help overcome EJs Problems. It didn't work. There is sufficient doubt about Tyrods aptitude that you want to think twice about structuring your whole O around him. Also Tyrod has had good sized targets and been unable to make productive use of them consistently. It's on him IMO. Bills have squandered 3rd round picks on fast little guys who really aren't any good or good enuf. Why not spend a third on the real deal? Thing is NO will be looking for more than a third. He helps their O a lot even when he is not targeted. I agree that he might not be happy coming to the worst passing O in the NFL, unless he sees a role for himself. He wants targets because he wants to be paid in two or three years. Kid is ambitious and believes in himself. I don't have a problem with that.
