  1. Hughes is a very good pass rusher but Matt Kalil has proven to be very vulnerable to a speedrush be it inside or out.
  2. Well although everybody has comfortably settled on Zay as the culprit, I agree that both players were responsible for the poor execution on that play. First of all it was an excellent playcall that worked beautifully except for the result. Dennison lined up Shady (our best player) outside of Zay along the sidelines. This absolutely required the CB (Bradbury?) to line up opposite him and pay close attention. Shady ran a sort of phoney curl but really just designed to hold up the corner and allow Zay to find open space behind him. The play worked beautifully. In effect Zay was covered (at least under) by a linebacker - Thomas Davis. Davis is great but thats a matchup you absolutely want. The corner loses a step as he flinches just long enuf to free Zay into the space behind him. Note the CB was playing the sideline so presumably the sideline area behind him (and away from any safety moving over to cover from the middle of the field) was the area targeted by the pass. This was a designed play with Zay as the first and probably only read imo. Having to avoid the safety confirms to me that the route called was a corner route. Clearly the plan therefore was for Zay to cut it to the sideline (corner) which is what he did. To me Tyrod threw a hybrid pass somewhere between a fly and a corner pattern. It wasn't terrible but I have to wonder whether it was supposed to land 5 to 7 yards inside of the pylon. I like to think Zay might have run a crisper maybe slightly deeper route or turned his head sooner but he really didnt have much time. It was a bang bang play that regrettably didn't work out. Close tho. I wish Dennison would open things up more. Would like to see more of that kind of playcalling. My two cents.
  3. Absolutely not concerned about Zay Jones. He is going to be a very productive WR and very possibly a star.
  4. Agree you have to look beyond the #s. He was also for the most part playing with 2nd and 3rd stringers. While the numbers don't shine he not only made quick decisions and had better chemistry with his WRs (esp Zay) but he also made some throws that Tyrod does not. Mind you I dont disagree with the decision to not start him against that Panthers front.
  5. Thats also how I see it. Assuming D opened up his playbook for NP, there would be a greater risk/reward profile. Exactly how much more risk or reward? Hard to say.
  6. Yeah and Brady got the crew to pick up a flag on a blatant pick that went for a TD. Laughable.
  7. Pack had to play with two rookie tackles on O yesterday plus no Nelson. They are a lot better than that.
  8. Last night Tony and Rodney (no friend of the Bills) went out of their way to say it was a horrible garbage call. I agree with them. DB lost his balance and fell over backwards.
  9. JMO but I don't think the Pats will be returning to the big dance for a (long) while.
  10. Lots of people thought TS in Denver couldn't play. Some thought Broncos should deal for Tyrod. News flash! TS can play (within a system to be sure - sorta like Brady). Oh and he was a 7th round pick projected by many to be a priority FA. So how do we know Peterman cant play again? We dont know.
  11. Not imo. Will be Falcons vs Steelers. Despite shredding a terrible NO D I think the Pats will have problems this year.
  12. Well ok if not Houston then Carolina week after. Or better still Steelers Dec 17 in bad weather. Steelers best in AFC imo.
  13. They are truly horrible (young?). Lets see how Tom &Co do against Houston's D. Not well is my guess.
  14. D. Cook 2nd round, A. Hunt 3rd round, C. McCaffery 8th overall. Well he was a great college player.
  15. Taylor is challenged but I'd take last years O and this years D. Why wasnt that possible?
  16. All the NE fanboys are predicting that the Pats will quickly turn it around. They have done it before etc...But the truth is that the problems of this team run deep on both sides of the ball so it goes beyond Brady. And when the system starts to break down so does a system QB. They will win the East this year but only because the Division is weak and not because they are the best team in football. They are not the best team in the AFC - I think the Steelers may be. They will lose 5 maybe 6 games this year imo and there is no way they repeat as champs. In fact they will not be going to the big dance probably for a long time. They may beat the Saints (or maybe not) but I certainly don't expect to see them dominate as many think. On the contrary I think the problems will continue to be evident and I don't think even Belly and C. can turn this one around.
  17. I don't mind the rotation. Keeping guys fresh makes sense to me if you have the horses to do it effectively. But no run stuffing zero tech is worth the money MD is being paid. He is (or should be) a disruptive 3 tech. McDermott's scheme allows for using MD this way so I expect to see that as the season progresses.
  18. As ZZ Top would say, "they got some nice girls there" har har har.
  19. Or for the boatload of picks we will gladly deliver for moving ahead of the second to last place Jets.
