WR Prospects for the 2018 Draft
starrymessenger replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
Bills seem to like big boy receivers. I think their guy should be Marcell Ateman. He should also be available after his teammate Washington, Bama's Ridley and Anthony Miller (maybe Ateman is available with our second pick in round two) and one or two other prospects). I think he may be a better pro than Washington. He's bigger and faster. His hands are good too. He'd be a better version of Matthews. I like A. Miller a lot (maybe next Marvin Harrison) but again he is not a big guy. Of interest in his case is the importance of QB - WR chemistry. He was very good when Lynch was under centre. He was absolutely fantastic when Ferguson took over. -
I guess the Buckeyes amongst us are feeling pretty good (not to say smug) today. Where do they make those Bosa toys? Bills should buy a couple.

I won't fall into the trap of judging a player on the basis of one game. But based on what I saw today, I would be comfortable picking him in the fourth or fifth round as LeSean's backup. And he is better (running the football) than Tyrod (who also can do that). Wonder how good his hands are.

More Trouble for Dorial Green Beckham
starrymessenger replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His measurables are off the charts but it's actually not about a waste of God given talent. He does not have the instincts of a good, let alone great wide receiver. Anthony Miller is not big, he's not fast, he's just born to catch footballs. Lots of them. -
Idk, certainly I hope not, but I must agree there was a lengthy interval in the fourth quarter where he seemed oddly indifferent to the urgency of the situation that he and his team found themselves in. I've seen him play a half dozen times. Had not noticed that before. Seemed really wierd.

Rodak: Bills Remain Confident in Zay Jones

I guess Kupp is a whole lot better than Corey Davis and Mike Williams too, who were taken top of the first. Except of course he's not. -
Penny-Wise? Possible McCoy heir apparent?
starrymessenger replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats where he prolly should go but I think his stock will continue to rise. I actually do think he could be the best runner in this excellent class - and he comes without a lot of tread on his tires. -

Penny may wind up the best runner in this class. Who knows. But he's limited because his pass pro is literally nonexistent. He doesn't like it and he's not good at it. Unless he figures that out he's not a three down back at the next level. My guess is he's a second round pick. -
His accuracy is spotty with the long ball (often under throws, sometimes over, generally accurate at intermediate range. Only average arm strength, doesn't deal well with pressure at all - worse than Rosen in that regard. Has a lot of weapons - Washington and Ateman are NFL calibre. Hill gives him a decent running game to work with. He has franchise QB measurables, 6'5" 230, but I think any team drafting him as a franchise guy will be disappointed. Huge drop off from Darnold, Rosen and Mayfield IMO. I would not pick him from this class.

Perfect rb to complement mccoy next couple yrs

Penny could wind up the best runner in this year's class. Absolute liability in pass pro however. -
What QB do you want to draft.
starrymessenger replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After watching Tyrod and knowing the fairly dismal history of ultra athletic running QBs in the NFL I was not eager for Jackson. But y'know Tyrod would actually be a top shelf QB if he was good in the passing game. Jackson has made strides in that regard and after seeing what Watson was able to do in Houston I think he may be a great prospect in the right O with the right coordinator. That is likely not Dennison though. Still if we haven't yet pulled the trigger and he's there for us when we use our first pick in the second round Bills should jump IMO. Thing is he won't be there. I expect 6 QBs to go in the first round (assuming the juniors declare). Personally I'd like Rosen or Darnold but that's not happening. -

Allen and Jackson have outstanding intangibles. Probably more so than Mayfield IMO. -
[Please Change Title]Zay Jones
starrymessenger replied to chef4131's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not worried about Zay. I think he's going to be good. Looks to me to be a better fit in the slot than outside. Maybe he will wind up like Nelson Agholor who took a few years to come around, and only after he was moved permanently to the slot position. As has been mentioned many times it usually takes a while for WR to transition from college to the NFL. Both Mike Williams and Corey Davis were taken at the top of the draft, where they deserved to be, and neither has done much either - but odds are they will certainly get there. Just too much talent and no real red flags. The one guy I loved coming out was JuJu. I never even heard of Zay before the Senior Bowl and obviously had never seen him play. But JuJu is playing with a HOF QB and is part of a receiving corps that is flat out elite. Big difference for a young player. Zay will be fine. -
Jimmy Garoppolo is the Real Deal
starrymessenger replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
San Fran let none other than Joe Montana go to make room for Steve Young. Packers let Brett Favre go for AR to secure another ten or twelve years of franchise QB play. Find it hard to believe that BB, who lets great Patriots players, including a QB (Bledsoe) go in exchange for picks when they are approaching the end, was onside this move. He probably wanted to trade Tom and that would have made more sense IMO. In fact there is a rumour that Brady was actually in the discussion with San Fran at one point. Good news is that this decision will come back to haunt NE. Except for Jimmy (and Tom) they haven't been that good at drafting QBs. They are about to find out how hard it is to land a franchise guy. -
Your repetitive put downs of Peterman are equally tiresome, indeed more so since they rely on an infinitesimally smaller sample size. So a raw rookie who got no help from his O-line got blown out in his first start against a quality opponent who was a bad matchup to begin with. One bad start does not a career make. Now tell me your post was really all about a coaching error, and given your "body of work" I'll call you a liar. You better hope that Peterman never amounts to anything. You may need a new handle.

When will Karma catch up with Jarvis Landry?
starrymessenger replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saw Patriot D-linemen distraught and encouraging Cadet after he went down. Then this. I guess it takes all kinds. Human scum. Glad we didn't trade for him. -
ESPN predicts Alex Smith as starting Bills QB in 2018.
starrymessenger replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills would be better, much better IMO, with Smith under centre, assuming that he can maintain his current level of play for at least a couple more years (which I think would be a reasonable assumption). He'd also be a great mentor to Peterman and any prospect the Bills might draft in 2018. He's a UFA in 2019 so I don't know how keen he'd be about heading to Buffalo without a renegotiated deal and I don't know that the Bills would commit to that given his age. Maybe a one year rental would work for both sides but I don't know either what the Chiefs might then want in the way of picks or what the Bills would be comfortable giving up in that case. -
[Vague Title]Gilleslee vs. Tolbert
starrymessenger replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorta looks like his running mate Collins, who went later in the draft, would have been the better pick. JWill can't crack the lineup in NO (tho no fault of his own). -

Im sure he sees more ass than a toilet seat. -
Rob Gronkowski doesn't forget Bills passed on him
starrymessenger replied to Bill51390's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. Imagine Gronk paired with KB. And if we had only sat tight, saved a first rounder and drafted OBJ. You prolly wouldn't even need a QB. Gronk's a great player. Wish he had been a Bill. -
Should Al Riveron be investigated?
starrymessenger replied to ny33's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't know that I would go that far. I do think technology assisted off field reviews can and do improve the game. But certainly if a reviewer is for whatever reason is unable to properly perform his functions, the result can be worse than if there were no reviews. That looks to be the territory we may be in right now.
