  1. Mike White. Bills like him. Even if he's a draft riser he should be available late first or maybe even in the second. Rosen and Darnold are gone. I'm not packaging a bunch of first round picks and maybe some second(s) for Allen, Rudolph, Mayfield. Too many flaws to justify it IMO. Too many holes to fill. I'd rather see Roquan Smith, Marcell Ateman, Vita Vea type guys than say Rudolph, whose ceiling (assuming he can transition) is Andy Dalton, and whose floor is Bryce Petty. JMO.
  2. Since we are not likely getting one of the top QBs regardless, keep the picks, use the draft and FA to fill the needs. Get a vet who can start and mentor. Stay put and draft a developmental guy with good size, a big accurate arm and good intangibles (like the kid from W. Kentucky). And next year we challenge for the division. JMO.
  3. I think the Bills could well trade for a veteran QB who would start. It's a viable scenario at least. I think it's possible that the Bills are in an aggressive win now mode, especially if they feel that they can find a number of starters in the draft and FA at specific areas of need. I cannot for the life of me comprehend or credit the proposed timing of an announcement i.e. this afternoon? Really?
  4. Idk what the Bills will do but I'd be a little surprised if they opted for Mayfield, assuming they would have a shot to get him, which frankly I expect they will without moving up. Beane and McCoach are from Carolina. Look at the Carolina QBs. They are all enormous (not just Cam). They are pretty much traditional pocket passers and even if Cam is occasionally used as a weapon in the run game they spent a lot of time coaching him up to execute from the pocket, so that's pretty much their philosophy. I just have a hard time seeing them picking a 5'10" surf, no matter how "electric" his play is. Sorry Barb.
  5. Right. They had been in man coverage throughout. For some reason they switched to zone on that play. Kudos to Peas I guess. No wonder they wanted to lynch him.
  6. Yeah I'm checking out Wilkins. I was not impressed with Vita. Was expecting to see more quickness off the snap, he was single teamed much of the night and they ran right at him on a crucial 3rd down conversion.
  7. Not sure I understand this comment. If all he's saying is that Mayfield is not under centre in a pro style offence fair enuf. In Oks O he is already 5-7 steps "back" there and I thought I saw him stand and shoot with no play action in the first half, including some of his best throws.
  8. A touch under 6'1" is no problem for me. But he looks a lot shorter next to some of his mates.
  9. I see the arm talent, zip, accuracy, good release. He sees the field (moved the safety over beautifully on one long completion). He's mobile and athletic. Quick and decisive actions/reactions. Lots to like - however on most passing downs he gets sit back in perfect undisturbed tranquility as he surveys the field or allows for the playcalls to develop. His O-line is dominant. So I don't know how he can perform when under sustained pressure and in a small NFL pocket the big bodies will be much closer, not five to seven yards away. Maybe then not being tall becomes an issue. Just a thought. Haven't seen much of him so those who have will likely have a better view. Wonder how tall he is. Find out at the Combine.
  10. Not a fan of Rudolph. Ceiling is Andy Dalton. Floor is Bryce Petty. He's overrated IMO.
  11. Not sure I'd agree. Whoever calls UCF plays on O knows how.
  12. True. You might have to do something to make Alex happy a la Shady. Don't know that the Bills would want to do that. The only Minni QB I'd be interested in is Teddy, assuming he's good to go, which it seems is the case. Want to see how Mayfield does today. If he's 6' I'm good. If he's 5'9" forget it.
  13. I for one will not be surprised if Peterman develops into a good QB, possibly even a starter. But there is no way he should be starting against Jacksonville. There is half a chance that he will be starting next September however.
  14. The Patriots are the prime example of what happens when a great team and organization are also luckier (or maybe more corrupt lol) than other teams. The result is a dynasty (though I suspect the end is not far off).
  15. No matter how good you are you need luck, or at least you need to not have bad luck. Bad luck will do in a good team. The football gods planned it that way when they designed the game ball. You never know for sure how it will bounce.
  16. JMO but I'm not worried about Zay. Call me crazy but I'm confident that he will be very good working from the slot, starting next year. I'm a little unsure about this year's QB class. Good chance Rosen is the # 1 pick. If not he's on his way to the Big Apple IMO. If Darnold declares and falls a spot or two there's a real possibility we put together a big package of picks to move up. I worry about Mayfield's height and how that transitions. I think Rudolph will be mediocre. I'm not sold on Jackson's competency as a passer but it's not like I've seen him all year (just the Taxslayer ugh). If we stand pat and Allen is there at the backend of the first round I would jump without hesitation - but I think we'd have to move up and in any event he's not ready to start. Further down in the draft I actually like the Ferguson kid in Memphis. But we already have a (sort of) comparable developmental player on the roster. I really wonder if the braintrust is seriously considering a trade or FA. Irsay's is such a dufus I could see him getting rid of Luck and drafting a replacement. Luck would come with a 77 million price tag for four years, 30 guaranteed and no roster bonus. Then of course you would have to send a player(s) or pick(s), but I think the asking might be less than what one might expect. Then of course the situation in Minni bears watching. What are they going to do. Keenum has been great but they would need to extend him. Bradford and Bridgewater are UFAs. Bradford was playing his best ever ball before injury. They declined Bridgewater's 5th year option. Coming back from injury are they prepared to commit to him long term? Personally I think the Bills O could be pretty good with Alex Smith under centre given the level he has been playing at. Is it Mahomes time in KC. Many say yes and Alex is not a backup. Will be fascinating to see how all this will play out.
  17. I give the new admin kudos for a very solid draft. Not saying Beane overstepped the bounds but no doubt Coach was very much clued into Carolina's thinking. The trades, while surprising, have been vindicated. The FA acquisitions have proven extremely astute. Heading into the 2018 draft with lots of ammo it is reasonable to think (and hope) that they will again do well. It will be very interesting to see how they approach it. For example, this class is not strong across the board, but it is very strong at the RB position. There are four or five guys who have day one starter or even franchise back potential. Given that they already have an elite back who needs his carries do they spend a second on Love or Penny or look to fill the backup role with a serviceable but lesser player without feature back potential? The mega question of course is how they plan to deal with the team's needs at the all important position. Do they dedicate their draft to picking a QB or address the many other needs and find an alternative via trades or FA?
  18. Choked on my pizza. Almost didn't make the playoffs. Would have been a long drought.
  19. I get that Tate is a reliable vet who won't make many mistakes but I wondered why this guy wasn't doing kick return duties. He was very good at it at Mizzou. I saw they had him back there taking a kickoff at least once. He is also pretty decent in the passing game. Again a pretty decent pickup.
  20. Personally, now that he's healthy I'd like to see Bridgewater in Buffalo. Possible?
  21. Bills need a QB no doubt about it, but I'm actually not that enthused about this class. It's supposed to be great but I see it more as deep. I tend to doubt that any of these guys measure up to at least some the guys who have been drafted in recent years. Luck, Jameis, Goff, Wentz I'm not sure any of these guys are on that level right now. Maybe Rosen is on a par with Carr. It will be interesting to see how the Bills approach this.
