Well actually thats why I like him. Oh, yeah, then there's that football thingy too. He's not overrated. This is a pretty good QB class, and he's a clear cut above the other prospects at this stage of their careers.

Allen is legit as a first round prospect but he's a luxury pick that the Bills cannot afford. Not someone you want to bet the franchise on. His ceiling is through the roof but he needs to go to a team with a well established veteran starter, a very good QB coach and worlds of time. The Bills need to target the guy who is at the opposite extreme of this class's QB prospects in terms of high level demonstrated ability and much lower volatility in terms of risk. That's the other Josh.

Maybe just me but I'd like to see more of Brandon Reilly. Good (not great) measurables, looks to have very good hands, competes very well for balls, tracks the football extremely well, over achiever (walk on) - got a feeling this kid can play in this league, could be a diamond in the rough. Hope he gets his chance this year.

Beane's manoeuvres are all about QB IMO. Having said that they could add another DT, just not in the first and depending on whether or not they are successful in moving further up the board. With Star on board I dont see why Vita. If we keep our picks I could see D. Payne if he falls to the second round. With Star eating space Payne could turn into a good 3 tech IMO.

He is a free agent next year if with the Eagles in 2018. With the Bills would'nt he be locked up a further three years?

R. Smith at 12 makes a lot of sense. To me moving up is all about drafting their QB, but its pretty obvious that they have a backup plan in case things dont work out and they miss out on the guy they have targeted (whoever that is). As for Foles I'd be on board with moving a 2nd but not much more than that. I actually think a 2nd is the right price. Maybe you throw in a late rounder so that the Iggles dont lose face. If Wentz is not good to go I cant see them moving Foles tho.

Not saying I want him but he is legit as a first round prospect IMO. His game has little consistency to it right now and he obviously needs work but he is capable of executing properly and when he does the result is genuinely jaw dropping. He flashed in his Bowl game and when he came back out a second time in the senior bowl game. Thing is you just want to see it more often. I dont think its fair or accurate to compare him to Jamarcus. JR had bad intangibles, and that was ultimately his downfall. If Allen doesnt make it, it wont be because he is lazy or lacks the will to win.

I actually tend to think that he's a very driven individual. Mayfield's competitive instincts are more visible/demonstrative but I suspect that Rosen too is a determined, result oriented, hard bitten guy. They are just different personalities. I very much doubt that we will see a lazy, uncommitted player. Somebody else started a stupid thread about his being a jew, but I do think that this personal identification is possibly a powerful motivational driver. I think he wants to be the first jewish QB to win a superbowl, to be the Sandy Koufax of football and successor to Sid Luckman.. Hope we can reel him in.

Rosen, Jackson, Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, Rudolph.

JMO but I suspect Rosen is the target. If I had the pick of the litter he'd be my choice. Less risk, more demonstrated ability than any of the others IMO. Plus McBean have always looked to be in a big hurry and Rosen is pretty much good to go. To me Rosen is clearly the best QB prospect in this class. Only issue for me is whether he is prone to getting concussed.

A bit like Tyrod when he came to the Bills, Bridgewater will only go to a place where he feels confident that he can win the starting job. He wants a one or two year deal where he gets to show that hes fine healthwise and then hopefully land a big payday.

The idea of anyone having Jackson and Barkely in the same backfield on rookie deals is absolutely mind blowing. I could not imagine a more spectacular playmaking duo. Very much doubt thats in the cards though. JMO. Also I dont think Lamar would be well served by sitting behind Tyrod. To be a very successful QB he needs to develop behind a pocket passer like Bradford. In terms of physical skillset he can already pretty much do anything Tyrod can do - and probably better. Plus I dont see Tyrod imparting much in the way of football smarts to a rook. Great example on how to carry oneself with class and as a professional but not really as a mentor imparting football wisdom.

Not saying its the case but Lamar has been mocked more than once to Zona who pick #15. If the Bills love the guy maybe that explains why they moved up to #12. More likely they plan a further move up and have Rosen in their gunsites.

If we were signing him as a FA (like if this year was next year for example) I think he would be an OK bridge if he could execute Daboll's offence and wasnt too expensive. But you get your long term starter in the draft. Hopefully this year. Foles is worth a lot more to the Eagles than he is to us.

Footwork and accuracy can be coached - sometimes. Not all prospects can do it but some can. The great Aaron Rodgers has a tendency to mess up his throwing mechanics. It was considered a negative when he was drafted. It just about gutted the Packer's season couple of years ago in a four or five game stretch if memory serves. When that happens his QB coach gets on his case and they work through it until the real Aaron Rodgers shows up. Lamar Jackson knows what he has to do to improve his accuracy. Its up to him now to prove that he can do it. No guarantees but I think the evidence suggests that he can improve as a pocket passer. Given what all else he can do I think that makes him a first round guy without question.

All I know for sure is that he's second on my QB prospect list. Beyond that I dont believe anything I hear this time of year.

Maybe it's just me but I think I saw pretty much what I was expecting, or at least I think I saw nothing to change my mind about these guys. Like most people I expected Josh Allen to look good in shorts, and he did. Rosen had a few lousy throws but also showed off his arm talent. Who cares? Everybody knows he's extremely talented throwing the football and can easily execute a shallow out. It's like wondering if Jackson can run. As for Lamar he showed continuing accuracy issues throwing outside the hash marks, was pretty good middle of the field. Perhaps more importantly I think he confirmed that he has the physical ability to make any NFL throw, only question being whether he can clean up his throwing mechanics to where he mostly gets rid of the overthrows (I believe he can). Arm strength was on display and was very impressive IMO (even if he underthrew one long ball).

I think Jackson would be best served by going to a team that had the coaching ability and the luxury of developing him as a pocket passer rather than to a team looking for short term gain and using him as a running QB in an offence based on college concepts featuring lots of RPO. Given that he has been schooled in a pro-style offence it would be a step backwards IMO. Everybody knows he can help himself with his legs. The real question is whether he can continue to show progress executing from the pocket at the next level. If he can do that so that he is not scheme dependant he will be a much better QB, the kind Beane has said he likes. Personally I think there's a decent chance that he can do that and that's why I think he is a good prospect, not because of his running ability. His skills as a runner are very nice to have but he will never be able to run in the pros the way he did in college obviously, so in weighing him as a prospect you really have to consider whether he can develop as a passer. That's also why I don't think he needs to be groomed behind a player like Tyrod. To the contrary I think he would be better off sitting behind a guy like Bridgewater.

I can agree with some of this but I recently saw tape of all of Bridgewater's throws over 15 yards in 2015. It was ugly. Very ugly. So while his short to intermediate range accuracy may be an improvement to what we've been accustomed to seeing, his long ball is questionable. Maybe that was not all on him but at least some of it had to be. Also obviously some questions are as yet unanswered when it comes to his fitness to play.

Nah I'm not worked up at all. JMO. Sounds like you've seen more of Lamar than I have, so I do credit your opinion for that. I've seen enuf to know that accuracy is an issue and I agree that right now he is not the passer Baker Mayfield is. So there is that. Where we probably differ is on how he projects and how likely he is to develop as a pocket passer. To me his inaccuracy is 100% attributable to a mechanical and specifically a footwork problem. His stance is too narrow at times (less than shoulder width), shoulders/hips not always properly aligned with the target, and he has a tendency to push off his front foot instead of transferring his weight properly through his delivery - resulting in overthrows. To me this flaw is extremely fixable with coaching and if you believe that the sky is the limit for this kid as the total package and lynch pin of an innovative and productive offence. I also rely on the upward trajectory his development has shown as a passer, a trend that I think is likely to continue at the next level. He looks to me like somebody who is willing to put the work in. Im not married to one QB type over another. My #1 prospect is Rosen. But if I had to chose between Mayfield and Mike Vick, I'd pick Mike Vick. Not that I don't like Mayfield. He's a good prospect too and I wouldn't be disappointed if he was the pick.

If we haven't gone for a much better prospect at the position earlier in the draft, of which there are many, I would not be against taking him in the 5th round (not before). To me he can probably do what Karlos did (or reasonable facsimile) spelling LMc. Wasn't Karlos also a fifth rounder?
