Is there a rush to judgement on Peterman?
starrymessenger replied to Sky Diver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we are talking about the same plays, where Thompson was the target, one was an overthrow (I dont think it lacked pace) and in the other it was Thompson who "sat" on the route. I could be wrong but for now I can't comfortably conclude that the guy has no place on an nfl roster. I think part of his problem may be overcompensating by putting a little too much mustard on the ball at times, sort of how Fitz did from time to time. Question remains whether he can make the throws if he tones it down a bit. Lack of talent or lack of experience? I dont feel like I can say for sure. Yet. -
TBH I didnt know Zay and had never seen him play. I had seen a half dozen of JuJu's games and liked him a lot. Starts to look again like the Steelers knowing how to evaluate WRs and the Bills, well, not so much. I think we need to refrain from judging Zay until we know more about what actually went down but if this is drug/partying related I will be very disappointed. I get the "20 year old millionaire" excuse but after Kujo and MD I'm starting to have my fill of this stuff. And I can see why teams put so much value on character and professionalim. Having guys on your roster who f'up, especially if their talent should put them in a leadership role, is going to seriously and negatively impact your chances for success.

JMO but its too early to throw him on the scrap heap. One game does not a career make or break. To me his arm strength is hardly impressive but is not far off average, if at all. I dont for now see how its worse than AJs. I dont think its necessarily the case that AJ outperforms him in TC either. So yeah I think there may be some amount of overreaction in the general drift of opinion on him. It may be justified, it may not. I think we'll probably find out soon enuf. -
So whats your point? On second thought, welcome to ignore.

Agree. I want to see more of Reilly. Looks to me he may be a good player. Everybody says we need speed. Reilly runs a 4.37, has good hands, wins contested chances and tracks the ball extremely well.

Was Trent Edwards broken?
starrymessenger replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah that big Zona safety broke him. It was all AWs stupid fault. -
We would not have had to trade up for JuJu, who is 10Xs the player Zay is. Feel better?
-
JuJu.

And when I think of the many times I've posted "Zay will be fine" over the course of the last year. Then again I scored 2 on the wonderlic, so there is that.

WTF!!! Guess anything Kouandijo can do Zay can do better. Anyway, JuJu was my guy.

Marshall Newhouse visiting Bills
starrymessenger replied to ytownblofan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess because Cordy and Seantrel are gonzo. So depth. The guy has started lots of games. Unfortunately in any given year the hurries and sacks he gives up are a big multiple of his starts lol. Last year 38 pressures in 14 games. A raider fan's heads up to Bills fans referred to him as "the harbinger of disaster". Yikes! -

Yes, unfortunately (and incredibly) worse than Mills. -
Good ST player, good depth, can lay the lumber, good athlete.

Which QB is most likely to fall?
starrymessenger replied to Dadonkadonk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be happy with either one at #12. Lamar might be there. I doubt Baker makes it out of the top 10. -
Dan Jeremiah - Bills covet Allen
starrymessenger replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Less risk IMO and projects almost as much upside. Somewhat different QB types to be sure, but I'm not married to one or another prototype. Bottom line is I think Jackson is close to Mike Vick (he could end up better) and if I had to chose between JA and Mike Vick, I'd take Vick (with better intangibles). Not that I dont like Allen (or Mayfield or Darnold). They are all pretty good prospects IMO (so we gotta get one!) but I think if this was two years ago only Rosen would be spoken of as on a same level as Goff and Wentz. All the others would be 1b guys. Still good, just not top tier. JMO but when Allen flashes his talent (which he does not infrequently) he looks a lot better than Losman or EJ ever did. He's a good prospect but ideally he goes to a team with an established veteran starter and a good QB coach (thats not us). He's not Ryan Leaf or Jamarcus. They were a couple of F'ups. Allen is a good kid. In some ways he is perfect for Buffalo. Big, blue collar, down to earth, and sporting probably the biggest gun in the nfl. -

There is always next years first for example. Not saying I would do it and I doubt Beane would go there either. -

Jeremiah nailed the Spiller pick which surprised most observers, so he's been right before. He has also trotted this Allen to the Bills interest several times. There were as many and similar questions regarding Cam's accuracy as a passer before his draft (despite his better completion percentage) and Allen probably did better than Cam in the combine passing drills. Allen is not, as some maintain, a third round prospect. EJ was a third round prospect (again despite his better completion percentage). Allen is much better and is completely legit as a first rounder. All things considered he would not be my choice, especially if we have to trade up again, (I'd take Lamar ahead of him) but if he winds up being the guy I will have no problem getting behind him 100%. -
I think we are in great shape

I see Rosen as clearly the # 1 QB prospect in this class. I think he is going to be a Giant and if not a Jet (Jets are betting the reports that the Giants are not taking a QB are true). As much as I like Rosen, I'm absolutely fine with Lamar at 12. I think he's at least as good a prospect as Mayfield, Darnold and Allen (and maybe better - he's # 2 on my list). There is risk with all of these guys (though less with Rosen IMO ) so if Lamar flames out (which I seriously doubt) its just one pick and at least you have'nt gutted your entire draft and still have plenty of picks to really fill some of the many holes in the roster with quality players. And if he does pan out, Bills will be miles ahead after the dust settles. Not sure this happens though because 1) I have no idea how Beane feels about Lamar and 2) I think Zona may try to leapfrog the Bills on or before the draft. -
Unfortunately the draft will probably go like this..
starrymessenger replied to Bakin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. That would not be bad at all. Thing is Lamar prolly doesnt make it past Zona and Smith wont be there at 22. So if Beane likes Lamar he will have to pull the trigger at 12. I like Lamar but I dont know if Beane does, or if he does, how much. -
The Jets trade opens up Mayfield to Bills.
starrymessenger replied to Bronxbomber21's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They may settle for Mayfield after the G-Men pick Rosen and the Browns make Darnold the #1 pick overall. -
If the # 2 pick is not for sale, its because they are taking a QB, most likely Rosen.
-
Maybe they know they can get a great back later in the draft, along with a lot of other potentially impact players they need to (re)build their roster. Barkley is unique but if I'm them I take Guice and three other quality players and probable starters. And its a mistake to think that all of the QBs allegedly at the top of the draft are equivalent prospects. They are not. The Browns know they have the guy they most like. So they are not picking a RB, no matter how good, ahead of that guy thinking they can draft some other facsimili at #4. And who would the Colts know that Barkley was going 1 or 2?
-
Nope. You draft your franchise guy first, franchise back second. Browns will land Barkley at #4 anyway. Barkley is a generational talent, agreed, but there are great backs available later in this draft. The reason the Giants are not trading out of the # 2 pick (if thats the case) is because they need to replace their 37 year old starter with another franchise guy.
-
Agree and thats why the Jets tried to secure the #1 pick (and failed). They werent planning on making Baker #1 overall IMO, and with Darnold strongly rumoured to be at the top of the draft, it had to be Rosen. They are banking on Giants picking Barkley or O-line but thats not a good bet. Giants are likely taking Rosen. Very likely IMO.
-
JMO but I dont think the Giants are planning on drafting Barkley or O-line. They need a feature back and Barkley is in a class by himself but they could easily draft a blue chip rb if they moved further down in the draft. Same for O-line. If they are staying put its because they are taking a QB IMO. Eli is 37 and who knows how long it would otherwise be before they would again be in position to draft a franchise guy. And I tend to think that QB is Rosen, if for no other reason than I see him as the prospect that best projects as a franchise QB from amongst the candidates in this years class. If that is accurate then we were'nt getting him anyway and neither are the Jets either (assuming, as I do, that he is also their target at #3). I think the Browns are taking Darnold at #1, even though I see Rosen as the better prospect. If I'm wrong and the Giants are not committed to drafting a QB at #2 then that slot is up for sale to the highest bidder IMO.
