  1. Kamar Aiken could be that guy, just throwing it out there. I see a lot of SJ in him and they had nearly identical pre-draft comments from SI.com. Who even knows what Easley can do... All that said, we should re-sign SJ. Every year FAs make more and more off new contracts, so it's only natural that his camp is asking for a higher price.
  2. Reiterating this is a good move for TM and the Bills. Justin Rogers was picking up steam towards the end of the season, I'd like to see him on the field more. That being said, healthy McGee has proven to be a better than average CB. I'd look to grab another mid-round in the draft if there is one floating around out there with potential that we can develop. Time to pay Stevie and get a pass rusher with the extra cushion in the cap.
  3. This may be a good pick at #10. I was watching some highlights of his from this past year, the guy is fast and has great hands. A lot will be revealed at the combine when he goes up against the other DLs. I'm not sure how he would fair against NFL O linemen, but saw in one of his clips he was a former QB, RB, WR, LB, SS, P, and K. He has obvious football skills. That being said, we should pick up the best player at any position that will be starting week 1 since we could use help just about everywhere but QB, RB, DT, OG/C and safety.
  4. I agree with the Upshaw pick. Alabama had a ton of playmakers on defense and he was one of them. I think we should throw a ton of money at Vincent Jackson, resign SJ and Chandler and draft a defense that Davey can utilize. Our young guns will only get better on defense so keep on backlogging it through the draft and create some competition in training camp. I'm interested to see how active we'll be in FA.
  5. What a day, what a day! I can't believe we had another HUGE comeback win to end the losing streak to the Pats and take sole possession of the AFC East! Check out the poll. I'd like to see which was your favorite Brady pick from today. In case you heard yet, we are the first NFL team to win back to back, overcoming at least an 18-point deficit in each game.
  6. When was the last time you saw "expert picks" and nobody picks the pats to win the game? How many times have you seen them all pick the Bills to win the game? The pats are a team that everyone expects to win, or at least be in the game until the last possession. That being said... It will be a good close game, unless we have no **pass rush**, then we won't be able to compete. My worry is the screen passes and draw plays. When Woodhead is on the field, I'd expect draw plays and short passes. The kid can't block, but if my memory serves correctly, he had a good day both times we played them last year. I'd expect Fitz to take some shots down field considering the overwhelming amount of passes 10yds or less. In 4 or 5 wide offense, if we can get good protection and let the play develop, I think our tall receivers have the edge over their secondary. Not sure what the weather is supposed to be like, but if it's dry, I think it'll be a high scoring game. Prediction: Bills 35 - Pats 31. If it's wet out, Bills 27-Pats 17, Bills stop the run and force short throws, Freddy runs all day and has his 3rd 100+ game of the season. Call me naive but it's time we show that we are a legit team.
  7. Cowherd - "You know what, I'm gonna pick them to win. You think I'm crazy, right? Well I'm gonna do it." haha awesome. Called Oak/Buf the game of the week. I've heard a lot of announcers and analysts say it could be the game of the year/best game of the week hands down.
  8. We'll be hearing "The Buffalo Beels" a lot then ha
  9. Why didn't Fred Jackson play?
  10. Ditto. Also saw via twitter that Shep has a good chance to get on the field Saturday. Should be good to see what the LBs can do out there
  11. Didn't Maybin have a sack in the preseaon last year? These stats don't get recorded so he's still without an NFL sack. I also think that left tackle had his helmet on backwards
  12. Let's get Trent back and go to the academic super bowl. On an even more serious note, winning teams have playmakers and surround them with solid positional players. Simply look at Green Bay. They lost their running back early in the year but had adequate back ups, or how many players on that defense can you actually name? Half if you're lucky? IMO Smith is a playmaker that makes this team better because he's good at what he does. What he does is not play every down at QB, makes people miss when running and can throw well enough to make that threat confuse defenses.
  13. You beat me to it! Who knows with what's been going on with this team. Not saying I necessarily want it to, but it could happen...
  14. After watching some of the highlights from practice today on bb.com, it looks like Easley had some nice grabs. The guy is big and fast, I really hope he is developing into a legit WR as this is essentially his rookie year. I would love to see him make some plays against the Jags this weekend and bring some hope to this withering WR corps.
  15. It's obvious he can run, which is why he also was returning kicks, but having him throw will open up our RBs to long passes since we know they can catch as well as they can run. The one thing I love about Chan is his creativity with the offense. Hoping we hold on to Evans, this should open him up as well if we spread 5 wide in the wildcat.
  16. Does anyone know if Tim Graham left the AFC East blog with ESPN.com? I haven't seen his name in a while and was curious whether or not someone else is taking over that? Not like many blog posts have been written about the Bills recently, but if so I am curious to see who will take his place and remind us how badly we are lagging behind the Jets and Pats.
  17. Rememeber a couple years ago when we were 5-0 under DJ? ...Then we crash and burn. There are plenty of reasons to billieve that we can go beyond .500 and actually make the playoffs. Frankly I would be upset (as I am every year) that we don't finish above .500 and miss the playoffs. The only thing that really hurts us as a team is the lack of an offseason to get the young players into the system. Chan is calling plays again this year for a reason and our D is certainly bigger than last year. Losing Poz to many people was a big deal, but think about where he was making all his tackles (if you need help think on our side of the line of scrimmage not the offensive backfield). If the Bills start off the season hot or at least winning the CLOSE games instead of letting them go to OT then not closing, then we have a great shot to finish off the season in the hunt and making the playoffs. For the realists out there, have some faith and hope the Bills start off hot and get things moving on the right foot this go around with CG at the helm. Let the preseason show what we have as a unit then start making your predictions. Remember every team is starting the season behind, if we can take advantage of the early games in the season while every team is playing catch up then we're in a good situation to keep rolling.
  18. +1 If they let him go, he would absolutely get signed with another team and would probably be able to choose where he wanted to go. Knowing a lot of athletes from Wisco (his alma mater), he is very much a team first guy. I don't know why we are even talking about cutting him or letting him go or whatever. He is a talented receiver and needs to be utilized as such. So it's up to Evans and Chan to make that happen. We actually have underrated, talented receivers to compliment him. I for one am very excited for this year.
  19. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-player-interviews/09000d5d81c8aa44/Hall-of-Fame-QB-Kelly-on-Bills-young-QBs Not sure if anyone has seen this yet, but in Kelly's talk about QBs around the league it seems like he was itching to throw some credit Fitz's way. Also noted that the Bills are on the rise (obvious after the last several games despite winning only two). Also talks about playing flag football with troops through something Tostitos set up.
  20. Seriously, folks. After yesterday's performance, it seems like we only have about 10 or 11 real football players on both sides of the ball together (not counting our kicking crew)! We better re-sign Fitz. Probably the only player on offense that played with any heart yesterday. Even if we pick up a QB, either draft (#1 pick coming our way) or through trade/free agency, he is at least a competent backup. Get David Nelson the ball! From what I've seen with him on the field, he makes plays, gets separation, and yards after the catch. Roscoe should be an even bigger part in the passing game! People continue to point out that Evans getting the ball, but he is only a north-south runner and had several drops yesterday. High hopes for our 2nd yr guards? Wayyy too many mistakes made yesterday and getting fooled by the Jets D and picking up the wrong players. Defense... let's see who we have here... Kyle Williams. An undersized NT, he is a player. That guy needs support big time. I've never seen him take it easy on plays. The rest of the defense, if you can call it that, should be taking notes on how hard this guy plays. Byrd is on the field on running downs, Scott, a bigger safety and a surer tackler should be in there to have at it. CBs? Our 'highly respected CBs'? McGee is out. McKelvin got embarrassed and Drayton got burned. Poz is always around the ball but he isn't making the tackles we're used to seeing him make. Take that as you will. A very held back rant from what was coming out of my mouth after witnessing that monstrosity.
  21. I'm not jumping on the Fitz train here, but he isn't afraid to throw down field or make the tough throws that TE was hesitant to make because the WR wasn't wide open. Yes his accuracy is an issue however, taking the *opportunity* to make big gains will go far for an offense lacking production. He is a mobile QB, which we need because our OL isn't up to par - tough for a pocket passer like TE. Easing Spiller into the game is the right call and I think he'll learn quickly and contribute even more. Great call making him return kickoffs so he can use his speed without waiting for the holes to open. *All that being said, we still can't win games if our D is giving up so many points.
  22. I think a lot of this season wins and losses will come down to how our defense can handle the switch to 3-4 and stopping the first half scoring slaughter we faced last year and against the run. In a close game that comes down to how we handle the 4th qtr, I would hope we can pull it out with Trent under center. He's done okay with clock pressure despite DJ's poor game management abilities. optimistically predicting 9-7.
  23. Now that we have only two draft picks left to sign, I'm curious as to how long it will take to get Troup under contract because of his unique position. He was a drafted nose tackle and that is a unique position with limited back up options. Granted Kyle Williams is the projected starter. He is unproven in the NFL, but will we wind up "over paying" for him because of the attention a NT needs for a successful 3-4? Just a thought and would like to get feedback. Jason Ferguson just retired, but we still have two premier NTs in our division in Wilfork and Jenkins and both are well paid.
  24. What I'm waiting to see is how Gailey chooses the QB order when training camp rolls around and everyone is playing with pads. Though there shouldn't be any sacking, I'd like to see how they are evaluated with some pressure in their faces in more game-like situations. Especially if the OL isn't that much improved. I would like to think that he is a better evaluator of QBs than DJ. Side note: I would also hope that with better conditioning from the new strength coaches, the OL will be able to perform better.
  25. Probably the most interesting part of the article, regarding the Bills, is that he gets more emails from Bills fans than any other team's fans. I don't know, but it sure sounds to me that we are desperate for some semblance of a playoff team and have been for quite some time.... duh. Thanks Mike for reiterating it again to the rest of the football world.
