  1. maybe not, but with a bit of creativity the quick, short passing game could keep defenses on their heels. tom brady has carved up many a defense by executing that to perfection. (and no, i am not in any way comparing peterman to brady)
  2. well, let's see what this year brings. seems like last year teams didn't really respect the passing game much, and were loading up to stop shady. if there is any semblance of a downfield passing attack, maybe he will have a few more opportunities. he can also be quite effective out of the backfield as well. and let's hope that ivory and murphy are maybe a bit more effective than tolbert was last year.
  3. i wouldn't go that far. the house is the house, no matter what the distance. all that matters is that you get in there!
  4. i would think one rb, one lb, one db, two ol, one wr, and one te. which ones specifically could maybe come down to match ups. just a very vague stab in the dark here. but that is, positionally, the way i see it. the te position intrigues me the most right now. mostly because of thomas and croom, each coverted form different positions (qb and wr).
  5. i can't recall him running in from 85 yards out, but it seems like he can definitely break off a 30-40 yrd run. his speed is good, but not great. but his cutting and quickness are still elite (at least they were last year) and his field vision and awareness are also terrific. if the house is under 40 yards away, i think he is absolutely a legitimate threat.
  6. excellent points. i am hoping that the reason that Daboll was hired was because of his ability to scheme, adjust, an make the most of his players' strengths/exploit the opposition's weaknesses. i would love to see this offense get a bit creative!
  7. that is exactly how it happened! and i was so upset i damn near ate an entire box of crayonz!
  8. i would love to see shades of this in the regular season. using the versatility of the rb's and te's to support the ol and the wr's could absolutely work. then, hopefully, as they all get a bit more comfortable and confident things could...could...start to click a bit better for the offense as a whole. then (again, hopefully) when the offense is set, they can bring in allen and try to add the long ball to the repertoire (if, as suspected, peterman starts the year). anyway, that's just my optimistic takeaway from your positive ponderings.
  9. i still absolutely love fitz. great guy, easy to root for, definition of an athletic underdog. dude just keeps popping up and playing. one of my all time favorite buffalo bills, and definitely top ten people i would love to have a beer with.
  10. i am totally with you here. let the kid get out there and just launch it!
  11. he is absolutely all about potential. but i am too old to keep waiting. i don't need the kid to play right away, but i do need this coaching staff to be 100% all in on this kid when they do put him in. no flip flopping. once he is your starter, he is your starter until he retires and goes up on the wall, or you know that he is a bum and you have drafted the next guy. i really do like peterman, but if he is starting, all he is doing is buying time. and i guess i am ok with that, i just don't want the poor kid to go out there and get hit with boos and "we want Allen" chants.
  12. i voted Allen because i look at it like this... on Allen's best day, he can do what Peterman can do, an so much more. But on Peterman's best day, he cannot do what Allen can. Peterman has a better understanding of the quick passing attack. he can make quick decisions and get the ball out in a hurry. he can even scramble and use his legs as an asset. but the physical attributes of Allen, to me, outweigh the polish and readiness of Peterman to run this offense.
  13. if we are awful and have a really high pick, this is where i land. please let some desperate team trade a king's ransom to grab a qb at that pick. a bidding war for it would be wonderful. while i don't disagree that mack is a phenomenal player, he plays on the wrong side of the ball. i really want to see an effort made to put most of our resources into the offense going forward. i would rather have a team that can score 45 than one that has to win by holding the opponent under 17.
  14. i can't recall ever being this excited/anxious/nervous for a preseason game. i think that Allen has, by far, the most impressive skillset of any Bills qb since kelly...honestly maybe even better than Kelly (settle down fellas, raw athletic ability, size, and arm strength). and all we have heard leading up to the draft was how this kid was so incredibly raw and needed so much work...and we have seen through the preseason (yes, the preseason) vast improvement on on all these areas of weakness. so yeah, i am absolutely, ridiculously, incredibly pumped for this exhibition game to see if this kid takes yet another step.
  15. i do. these players were Buffalo Bills. Preston Brown is, by all accounts, a really good guy. Cordy had never done anything wrong. They gave us what they had while they were here and i wish them nothing but the best.
  16. i think he can get over 1,000 rushing yards, and maybe 1,500 all purpose yards. he has great hands and vision, and still has that quickness, agility, and elusiveness...even if he doesn't have that blazing speed. if Allen looks like he is the guy, good luck stacking the box. that whole "make him be a qb" thing will be but a memory. if this offense is going to be a modern day offense, then shady could rip off some huge chunks of yardage. remember, to get to 1,000, you only need 62.5 yds a game. if teams have to respect an offense with a legit long ball in their game, and someone that can make all the throws...then shady could be in for a great year.
  17. respect the process.
  18. i heard it once said " the games don't count, but they matter". that seems about right.
  19. i think that we all have a pretty good understanding of what preseason is. but i also think that we are all getting a bit excited because the quarterback we drafted is showing not just that incredible physical ability, but is also showing an understanding for the game, touch, timing, command of the huddle, respect from his teammates, a noticeable improvement on things we all ha questions about. he does not look lost, he does not look confused, he does not look timid...he looks like a damn quarterback! preseason or not, this is absolutely grounds for optimism and encouragement.
  20. with all of the hubbub surrounding the draft, and all the negative prognostications about Allen...i think many of us were prepared for a train wreck. but what we have found is that we drafted a big, strong, athletic kid with a rocket arm who seems to have a genuine love for the game and a desire to be great. a kid that puts in the work on the field and in the film room. it seems he is further along than what many of us were expecting, and now those of us that were optimistically skeptical are getting downright giddy!
  21. this is exactly right. i know i am supposed to be all about second chances and letting kids grow up and all that...but i gotta pass on this one.
  22. this is exactly where i am. and it is getting to be that time of year where i am going to want to be able to listen often.
  23. if peterman is really going to be that good, he should be able to abuse their third (and beyond) stringers. and while i want to see team success for the Bills, i can't help but admit that i have the Allen Fever! practice squad?
  24. hopefully because groy is secretly working exclusively with allen, and they need to build up the rapport in game! the first team could actually be the second team, but they are given the first team title to throw the other team off. then the second team (real first team) comes out, led by Allen, and they just start rippin' $#*! up!
  25. i trust the process. but the variables are huge. hoping we have the right OC and QB in place. i think the defense will be plenty good enough. special teams should be fine. in this game, it's all about that offense and getting just enough support from coaching, defense, special teams, and luck.
