  1. i was thinking that if the offense does well, particularly the line, the broadcasters will be making mention of how he has had to play multiple positions and has been the only healthy player on that line for the past few years while players have constantly revolved around him.
  2. if the offense finds and sustains its rhythm again, i think fitz has a shot. also, if shawne merriman regains his form he could be a consideration, as well as a candidate for comeback player of the year. levitre should be getting some love this year, especially if the o-line comes together and stays healthy. and be on the lookout for mark "you only got one blocker left for me" anderson. and of course, the senator and mr. byrd should have some eyes on them as well.
  3. i disagree. i think he needs to understand his role as a backup qb (if he wins that job) and embrace it. i think the best thing he can do for himself is work hard, be humble, and learn everything he can from everyone around him. then if he gets a reputation as a hard working, humble guy with skill, not only could he revive his carreer somewhere but here comes another pay day!
  4. i don't think he is all grown up, i just think that he has figured out the appropriate manner in which to speak to the media. but, i think that if it happens at all, this place is better than most. we have probably got one of the strongest locker rooms in all of professional sports with some great leaders to help him on and off the field. in the end, it's all up to vince.
  5. i'd have to go with the 6-0 version. but i am a huge fitz guy. i really do think this guy represents the buffalo bills and the western new york area tremendously.
  6. i think vince young has trmendous physical attributes, but is lacking everywhere else. can the guy grow up, get motivated, hit the books and become a team player and a leader? maybe. but for now, i am thinking he is humbled to the point where he knows he has to do whatever it takes to make a roster and collect a check. it's as if he's going back backwards. he was drafted as a big fish with the world on a plate, fell from grace and now has to pay his dues with all the other journeymen and rookies.
  7. if this guy is anywhere near back to form and can stay on the field, he will provide so much more than pass rush. he is a person that will be trying to pump up every one of his teammates to get them to play at another level, as well as pumping the crowd up so high that if "the ralph" had a roof, it would surely blow off!
  8. i absolutely agree that a healthy shawne merriman is an extreme positive in several ways. and all of those ways take this defense from "what if?" to "holy $%!!". but i think that his biggest impact could be attacking from the edge as a de. stand up or hand in the dirt doesn't matter, i just don't want him to even consider covering anyone at anytime. seek and destroy should be the only game he is playing on sundays.
  9. you have to give credit where it is due and it is definately due. nix has absolutely done his job and gailey, by most counts, is doing his part as well. throw in the fact that these two "good ole' boys" give us some of the best sound bites ever and that most fans seem to trust and respect these guys, and i feel we are in very good hands.
  10. i never get excited about a high 1st round pick on a db, but i really like this kid's attitude and ability. i think that his laid back demeanor is a wonderful asset at his position and i think he will be a great addition to our defense. the fact that he takes so much pride in his tackling/hitting will only endear him that much more to the buffoalo fans. love this kid, and hope that crow goes down smooth and easy.
  11. levitre is a freakin' beast and needs to be able to stay at lg where he belongs. he has shown signs of being downright dominant at times at that position. with a healthy eric wood and hopefully a "ready to go at lt" cordy glenn on either side of him for the whole year, they will be showing the nfl what the bills o line is all about when healthy and able to play for a whole season together. oh yeah, and teams will be dreading freddy and cj running that left side. pancakes, snot bubbles and rb's @$$es all day long!
  12. whatever the final 53 looks like i think most of the billievers will be happy. it looks like we are going to bring some heat and give some pain from the front seven. the secondary consists of some very promising youngsters with some great veteran guideance. and our offense, while possibly bereft of that "true number two wide reciever", looks like it should be fine with a hungry and healthy freddy jackson and cj spiller combo, along with waves of wide recievers that may not be prototypical but should all have a little something to bring to the table. oh yeah, and i beilieve that a deeper talent pool with more depth on the offensive line won't hurt us too much either. now that i've made the short story long, i think that when the smoke clears from all the training camp/preseason battles, we will have one hell of a team. new england, look the #@$% out!
  13. yeah, i'm still thinking that with improved play on d and fewer turnovers from the offense, we could have a few more plays per game and i'd like to see about 40 per game between our running backs and gadget guys. also, you could throw screen passes into that 40, those are close to running plays.
  14. 40 runs per game with fred/cj/gadget plays might be a really good thing. o linemen generally like to run block a hell of a lot more than pass block and rbs generally need to get into a rhythm, so i'm good with this formula. plus, it should open up the play-action passing game.
  15. if you're gonna leave the two big boys singled in the middle they will absolutely crush the pocket and anything 15 yards back from it. this should be very, very interisting.
  16. i think fitzbeardy's biggest asset will be getting everyone around him comfortable and thinking that the sky is the limit.
  17. i like his optimism, and hope that it translates into production and swagger on the field. talented men who believe in themselves and their teammates can do wonderful things if they only billieve!
  18. it definately seems as though mr. nix is trying his damndest to build a team that controls the line of scrimage on both sides of the ball. i like that, i like it a lot.
  19. left tackle could be seen as still a very important position not just because of protecting the blindside, which is still very important, but also because if your left tackle is very good to great, he could concieveably neutralize the opponants' best pass rusher. in addition he could open rushing lanes and free up wide recievers, tight ends and running backs to run routes or block downfield rather than helping at the line.
  20. pass rush is huge because it can swing the momentum in a number of ways. sacks, interceptions, fumbles, big hits. all of these are very good things and i am really hoping that we become that pain in the @$$ team that nobody wants to play against.
  21. well, it would seem that we only send them our lt's that don't want to be in buffalo anymore. so let's hope glenn has success and loves it here...or that he is ok and we can pass him to philly...love to see what buddy would do with 2 firsts!
  22. bingo! this is exactly what i was thinking.
  23. i agree with this completely, and while some of the underdogs and fan favorites may not make it, the team should be much improved because of it.
  24. what if morrison turns out to be a good fit for us as well as a good mentor for the youngsters? and what if thaey flash some serious potential in spot duty this year? i keep drinkin this stuff and yet the glass is eternally half full!
  25. this guy is gonna look really good in a bills uniform. i cannot wait to see what this d-line is gonna be like this season. i really think we will be making some coaches and quarterbacks frustrated beyond belief. can't wait!
