  1. look at it this way. buddy got the guy that they believe has the highest ceiling in this qb class, the biggest and most athletic of the bunch with a good head on his shoulders and a strong (enough) arm. he also managed to pick up another second round pick in the process, and now while these other teams are grabbing their qbs ahead of us in the second, we can grab a guy or two with first round talent that slipped a bit. sounds good to me.
  2. in signing kolb, they have put themselves in a position where they don't HAVE to take a qb, but if they truly feel that one of these guys has everything they are looking for in a franchise qb, i certainly hope they grab him. and as far as the backup qb thing goes, there is nothing wrong with having a couple vets slug it out to see who is better, wouldn't we have loved to see them bring in a legitimate player to compete with thigpen?
  3. i have today off, tomorrow is going to be hell though, and even worse will be working friday and saturday while all the experts are weighing in on the picks. sometimes i hate working for a living.
  4. this is exactly what i am counting on/hoping for. if the bills select nassib at 8 i believe it has absolutely zero to do with ticket sales of being familiar/comfortable with the offensive system being implemented. but rather, they have intimate knowledge of this kid's skillset and mental makeup. they know what he can do on the feild and know if he has the intangables required to be a leader of a team. if they pick him at 8, then i will feel comfortable that they have their guy, if they don't select him at 8, that should tell us a lot as well.
  5. it seems to me there are a lot of people that are thinking along the lines of "i'll be ok with player x, y, or z at 8, i just don't want player q". and there is a large contingent that are of the opinion they don't care who the qb is they pick, as long as they pick him at 41. and lastly there are the fans that just want the draft to get here so they can see what their team is going to look like and the fans who just want the draft to get here so they can p!$$ and moan about it. so yeah, whatever they do, the fans as a majority will not be placated.
  6. i think that all depends on the player(s) available at #8. if there is 1 superior talent left at any given position and multiple teams that want him, then it could be good. if there is no one that is considered a prime impact player on the board, then i doubt the offer would be strong.
  7. i was wondering if you could do a "nothin' but mean" mock. for the folks that want to see the "you might win but we're gonna kick your @$$ all over the field" type of players brought in.
  8. i would think that if dansby is going to be playing for an nfl team this year it will be for considerably less than 8 mil per year.
  9. i used to love spending the weekend watching the draft and initially i was pretty disappointed with the new format. but, my job now has me working most weekends, so now i'm happy i can watch the first few picks in the evenings. also, i drive a lot for my job so i can listen to all the expert evaluations from the callers to wgr, and this year there should be some really interesting insights!
  10. i think most people are making the point that if there is no way he is going to be a buffalo bill after this season, then it is better to recieve some form of compensation for him rather than watching him walk away and having a large hole to fill, a little to fill it with.
  11. but...are they strikes? i've seen some of these short to intermediate strikes, and as long as they are put in a place where the reciever can get the ball in stride and keep on truckin' then i'm good with that. i like seeing that ball get there on a rope, less time for the dbs to react. now, if only he could put a bit of that mustard on the deep ball.
  12. my opinion on this is that there are two major differences between revis and byrd are the position (cb is way more high profile than safety) and the fact that the jets were very active about shopping revis, at least publicly. i still believe that byrd is top 5ish for safeties in the league, but does a top 5ish safety really compare in notoriety or demand to a top 5ish (or #1) cb with his own island named after him? and yes, i know that he is coming off a big injury. but, it is what it is and we shall see what we shall see. also, i believe that the bucs must absolutely be off their collective meds. but hey, better them than us, better the island is no longer in the east, and here's to hoping the jets absolutely s#!t all over themselves with all those picks in the draft.
  13. yes, there are a lot of variables involved in this than just the standard height and weight. but i doubt there are many qbs that can take being driven into the turf, shoulder first, by a dl or lb and jump up and be just fine.
  14. isn't that exactly what nassib is listed at? and isn't he considered to be pretty solid?
  15. wow, if you add some decision making and pocket presence, sounds like you got yourself a qb.
  16. i've got no control over how much i will be invested, i'm in all the way 'til i die or they move. as far as the pick, it's just a matter of how much effort do i have to go through to convince myself they got the right guy.
  17. having endured you're epic fitzpatrick love-fest over the past few months let me ask you this... if you could take a clone of fitzpatrick and make him more accurate and therefore consistant, would you take that qb? it seems strange, but the way the bills two favorites are being described it seems that barkley is a fitz-like guy with better accuracy and nassib is a fitz-like guy with a stronger arm. (although i think that fitz is faster than either of them) that's the impression i've been getting from a lot of the tbdrivers.
  18. i really think that byrd is a great safety, probably top 5 in the league. he has become a sure tackler and a big help in run support. and his football instincts/ball skills are unquestioned. the man is definately a great player and by all accounts a good person. i believe he is better at his craft than levitre at his (though i also like levitre a lot). unfortunately i don't think either player is worth, to this team, what they will or have commanded on the open market. but that is not to say i don't like them or don't think they are very good. there is just no way you pay that kind of cash for those positions.
  19. riddle me this, are these men's asses any less on the line if they pick barkley, smith, manuel, or any other qb? or any other player for that matter? and i'm with you, i'll back whoever they deem worthy of throwing into a red, white, and blue uniform.
  20. you r argument is incredibly logical and makes absolute sense. i agree with the premise of the trade down and picking up extra players, especially extra players in the top 75 or wherever they may be. but the thing about the quarterback position is that there is so much that goes into the position that cannot be measured. leadership, competitiveness, presence, anticipation, timing, desire. these are just some of the things you need in a franchise qb. and to make matters harder, you are trying to figure out which kid will grow to be a leader of men. if ryan leaf were coming out in this year's draft he may be the hands down number one guy on everyone's board, and who knows, maybe this time around he would be brought into the right environment and be great. my point is that getting the right guy in the right situation at the right time is probably not easy, but you have to try. if it's not the right thing to do, then so be it, but if you feel it's right, you better do it while you have the chance.
  21. 3 sounds better than 2 initially. however, 2 would far surpass 3 if one of the two were a franchise qb. are there any franchise qbs in this year's draft, i don't know. but i really hope that's what the bills are digging for. and always remember, you have to swing at the ball to hit it out of the park.
  22. for everyone's sake, i sincerely hope that no one was called a "jive turkey". i shudder to think of the ensuing violence.
