  1. what i'd like to see 1. i'd love to see manuel win the starting job and have it not be close. 2. whoever wins the competition of kolb and jackson. 3. i'm assuming it would be tuel over corp. what i think i'll see 1. kolb with the starting job early 2. manuel behind kolb learning and maybe getting spot/mop up duty until ready to start. 3. still assuming tuel over corp. bottom line is i would love to see manuel take the starting job from the beginning and not let go. however, with kolb or jackson as the starting veteran qb, the coaches can bring manuel along at his own pace, whatever that may be. at least, until we are losing and the fans are screaming for the rookie.
  2. there are times where i would absolutely take the flag and the 15. i'm not advocating headhunting, cheapshots, late hits or any of that. but i love the idea of a guy on defense playing that close to the edge, especially a linebacker. if he is running around lighting people up, i would think that would pump up his teammates and also the crowd. the ralph is amazing when it's rocking.
  3. i'm not a coach or any kind of expert, but it seems that you can have different types of guards. some coaches like smaller, quicker guys that can pull on traps, sweeps or screens. some systems may call for the traditional mauler or lumox that just tries to stomp a mudhole in the guy in front of him. that's the only reason i was kind of upset that no linemen were taken, we don't know what they're looking for there.
  4. i believe that it has a lot to do with who nix is picking the players for. i'm sure that the type of player that chan and wanny wanted are much different than the type of players that marrone, petting and hackett want. and i'm sure that nix and whaley run their draft with a heavy bias on what the coaches are looking for in their players.
  5. i am hoping that whoever the best of the bunch turn out to be, they can offer versatility and be interchanged to an extent so that they can create chaos and confusion. the raw talent and speed of this group has definately got us excited. add in the potential of the tight end/h back players and it gets more intriguing, even if still far from proven. this is hard to say, but i can't wait for preseason!
  6. i think that they are happy to start things off with the group they have. the coaches have not had a chance to really see what they have there, but as they go forward i'm confident that if they feel like we need more there, they will go out and get it somewhere. because really, what are we talking here, a new left guard? somebody will step up.
  7. also look at it like this if getting the qb that you wanted was not good enough. with the 8th pick in the nfl draft, the buffalo bills select qb ej manuel, lb kiko alonzo and te chris gragg. i have no idea how good this draft will be, but it's already incredibly exciting.
  8. i hope that the coaches are really preeching downfield blocking, these guys all seem like they are made for "open space".
  9. yeah, and only a 42" verticle and 11' broad jump. was this guy wearing cement shoes or what?
  10. hopefully the support system inside the locker room will guide this kid. maybe a guy like stevie can show him how to have fun and be yourself without stepping out of line. stevie is now the old man in the wr corps and he has stated that he wants to be more of a leader. so let's hope for the best on this one. the potential alone is freaking me out right now. a couple of days ago we had stevie and...
  11. time will tell but i'm excited as hell right now and all in! and yeah, i'm double fisting the kool aid, definately sugared because this draft along with the udfa signings are frickin' sweet!
  12. you have to go with the talent available, and they felt the value was at safety. we have questions at safety and the new d coordinator likes to use a bunch of them. pettine wants to attack and this kid is a thumper, right? competition may breed success here. let these guys fight it out and see who's left standing when the smoke clears. and don't forget that we need guys to run down the field and crash into other people at full speed on special teams. i am chugging the kool aid that is this year's draft!
  13. i like this pick quite a bit actually. i've never seen him play but reading descriptions and analysis and watching highlights intrigues me quite a bit. i think that a creative coordinator could really take advantage of his strengths and a smart coordinater could probably work around any deficiencies. he could be deadly underneath, on gadget plays or screens. just don't lead him into traffic to be blown up by a guy with half a foot and 60 pounds on him.
  14. was warren moon really all that agile? it was a while ago but i remember him as a classic pocket passer and not much of an athlete. i could be misremembering though.
  15. after listening to the way the qb carries himself, and of course all that raw physical talent, love the pick. (and i have to appologise, after watching the gruden camp with manuel, i got the impression he was nervous and had a bit of false bravado. this kid is humble and has a confidence about him. once again, appologees.) woods seems like a real good get. kiko might be a fan favorite from day one if he comes in with the motor and passion that he is being described with. and also a small speed demon who is very far from brittle who looks like he is a bit of a muti-purpose back/reciever.
  16. did you see what cj spiller did with screen passes last year? now picture that but smaller and faster. i'll let you borrow my delusionally optimistic kool aid goggles if you're having trouble seeing it.
  17. a lot of times people that overcome adversity of this nature are actually much stronger for it and much more appreciative of the things they earn. it may be because they have to work harder to overcome the weight of their indescretion(s). but they also have to keep working to keep from falling back into it. anyway, this guy seems like he brings passion, intensity and a love of collisions. my kind of crazy!
  18. some people do actually learn from their mistakes and grow as people. some kids do grow up. sounds like he could be one of these guys, and all the breakdowns of this kid make him sound like the type of guy we all want for the defense.
  19. yeah, it's pretty hard to listen to, but i'm getting a lot of reading done!
  20. maybe it's not so much whaley vs. nix, but rather nix and co. picking marrone/pettine guys rather than gailey/wanny guys. just a thought.
  21. i loved this pick not because of who it was, but because of what they did. i was not as concerned with which qb they took as i was with them identifying their guy and grabbing him. i would have been fine with a qb at 8, but now i've seen the bills get the guy they wanted and pick up an additionion second which could end up being a starter or solid contributor. so i'm for the most part as happy as i could be after the first round, and anxiously awaiting the next!
  22. i love the pick and the timing. 16 was perfect because they got their guy and picked up a pick that they can do some damage with. hopefully all these teams ahead of us in the second will now be taking their qbs where they were supposed to be taken and we can grab some serious value in players that may have slipped out of the first. no, we cut vince young.
