i love fitz and really wish there were a way that would have worked out for the team and for himself. i just think that too much happened and too recently for him to be back in buffalo. but yeah, i think he would have been the ideal backup/mentor.

steve tasker was absolutely amazing to watch cover kicks. he was the deliverer of so many huge hits, but he also had a knack for giving the return man absolutely no shot at a decent return. it was kick...catch...crush!

very underwhelmed...and slightly sickened by the halftime show. thus far we have a horrible game, average at best commercials, and a half time show that my wife and daughters are loving...i guess these are the moments for which man created alcohol.

Fred Pagac hired as LB coach
swnybillsfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
why in the crap is jerry ostroski gonna be coaching our linebackers? wasn't he an o-lineman for us back a ways? i tell ya, bringing back all these former players to buffalo is a bunch of crap i tell ya. i am so done with this team too. -
Bills hire Jim Schwartz DC, Todd Downing QB coach
swnybillsfan replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i don't know if i'd call it emulation. i'd like to think of it as grabbing a couple of coaches that doug marrone feels that he can work with and have success with. maybe not the best guys, but hopefully the best fits for the bills. what the hell, it's the offseason and i am optimistic. -

but wait, there's more! they also got their qb coach from detroit! -
i don't know as if he would affect the draft grade as a udfa, because he was not "drafted", but i could be wrong.

What Holes Does This Team Have?
swnybillsfan replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i think a huge hole that needs to be filled is qb coach. i think that if the bills were to hire a competent, intelligent person for this position it would be a wonderful thing. i have nothing against hackett, in fact i kinda like the man, i just think that if the team were to hire a coach whose sole purpose in life is to get the most out of the qbs on this team (especially manuel) then that could only be a good thing. if the qb position gives us only moderate improvement over what we got last year, and all other parts remain the same, i think this is a playoff team. if we get moderate improvement from the qb position and add bpa for the first couple rounds, who knows? -
Roscoe Parrish could still help special teams
swnybillsfan replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
how old is roscoe? has he been playing football in any capacity? what kind of shape is he in? i like roscoe quite a bit but is there room on this team for him as a return man when we have a seeming glut of speedy, capable return men? and can he beat out anyone we have at wr right now? and isn't one of the biggest beefs...or beeves...or beefs that we need a big, physical style receiver? i think if you can come up with a better way for the guys to block and understand the concepts of not holding or blocking in the back, our return guys are just fine. -
1. yes he does. whether run or pass, plays need to be created and executed where cj can get a step or two and make people look slow and stupid. 2. stevie and chandler are good players, especially if they are not the best on the team at their respective positions. no reason they have to be replaced, you can add talent and keep them around. 3. build the team around ej and give him next year. if he's great, then great. if he busts, chances are our record sucks, we draft a qb high, and the newbie has that much more talent to work with when he gets here.

Roscoe Parrish could still help special teams

where the heck is roscoe these days? he was always a player that intrigued me. i felt that jauron didn't use him correctly, and then i thought gailey was starting to use him to the best of his ability but he was hurt off and on. but seriously, where in the crap did this thought come from? -
Nickell Robey 2013 Highlight reel
swnybillsfan replied to infernus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i disagree with this. from what i was hearing (all second hand), rogers was not taking his chance as serious as he could, while robey was putting in all the work and making the most of every opportunity he got. and there is the difference, rogers put the coaches in a position where they couldn't put him on the field, robey put them in a position where they couldn't take him off. love this guy! -
if there ever comes a day when marcel decides he wants to be great, look the hell out.

Offensive regression with more talent and no Chan
swnybillsfan replied to Grondre Reed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
injuries at qb and wr did not help much either, and then there was that pesky lg position... -
thank you. i forgot his name in a different thread and it was bugging my like the song that gets stuck in your head that you don't know the name of but keep humming all damn day. agreed, and it pains me to say that as i love arthur moats, he just seems like a great guy and extremely positive, upbeat person. i just kinda hope he is one of the six special teams aces marrone is talking about.

i don't think ej has necessarily failed the eyeball test for a lot of people, i think he has failed the consistancy/healthy/dependable test. to me he has been equal parts good and bad. he has mad great throws, and really poor throws. made some good decisions and some really bad. shown the ability to stand and deliver while getting crushed by a 300+lb man, and looked rattled and panicky under percieved pressure. there are equal arguments to be made for and against, and plenty of examples to back up each side. bottom line is that ej's career to this point is all about interpretation, is the glass half full or half empty?

i am pretty sure they were, though i am not sure exactly when the hughes for sheppard trade happened. and the lewis for (crap, i forgot that linebacker's name...drafted a round before moats...anyway, that guy) happened right before the last preseason game. fun question: if chan was coach, does lewis ever play? fun question 2: if marrone were coach last year, does t. jackson play?
-
i don't have any names for you, but i want them to repeat what they did last offseason with manny lawson, alan branch, the hughes trade, the lewis trade, the carpenter pickup (i know that wasn't the offseason)...but find value players that fit your system, players that fit your style, and get value that works within your cap structure. it's generic, i know, but that's pretty much what i am looking for in free agency (with a possibility of trading with someone for a better fit).

A TY and a TJ diverged in the woods...
swnybillsfan replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well, then we're number 1! agreed, eff that guy right in his stupid aiy! -
i guess i agree with this sentiment. i am all for drafting talented offensive players to compliment ej and give him every chance to succeed. then, let him develop into the guy that will be slinging the ball for the next decade, or prove that he is definitely not that guy. and if he is not that guy, then the next man up will conceivably have a better car to drive.
