  1. indeed we were. we got a bunch of the lucky bounces and bad calls in our favor last year. the rest of the afc was down. we have a great running back. and tyrod taylor, while having his flaws, also has some strengths to his game. i also thought that the team as a whole really bought into what mcdermott was selling. but we also had some horrific offensive performances. and the qb was benched for a rookie that was completely exploited when thrown to the wolves, all because the offense was completely inept at times. i am ready to have fun watching this offense play football.
  2. 3b. ball placement seems like every year there is a new buzzword or catchphrase. this time around, i am gonna go with ball placement. which qb is best at putting the ball in a place where the receiver is able to catch the ball on the run. getting the ball without having to break stride is huge, yards after the catch are something, if i recall correctly, we were horrible at last year. who of these qbs would rank highly in this facet of the game?
  3. out of curiosity, where does rudolph fall on this list?
  4. even if he is not a hall of famer or an all pro, he could be a top ten qb. and a top ten qb would be a wonderful thing to have. i just don't want to watch any more games where it looks like we are not even playing the same sport as the rest of the league. here's to hoping!
  5. i thought i read that in one of the mason rudolph posts. or one of the other qb posts. i have no idea which one. i could very well be wrong. i rely completely on second hand information as i don't watch college football. this is why i get talked into and out of several different QBs during the offseason. i know you do not care for rudolph, is there any redeaming quality to this guy?
  6. kinda what i was thinking. i keep hearing that his strengths are the short to intermediate throws. i guess it comes down to exactly how strong these strengths are, and how limiting are the weaknesses.
  7. i think we have had better teams in the past that never got the luck needed to squeak into the playoffs. and you are right, we need a qb that can get us to the playoffs year after year. hopefully we get the right guy.
  8. later in the episode the narrative flipped, and he was worth five drafts!
  9. it is also possible that there is only one, maybe two guys he views as being worth paying that price for. and if you jump to three now and they are taken 1 and 2...then you have effectively just sat on a cactus. maybe he will see who goes number one, and if his guy is on the board at 2, offer the sun, the moon, and the stars for the giants pick.
  10. if he does, i think you have a lot more people screaming about "winning meaningless games". and the people screaming for them to move up "at any cost" would probably be screaming a bit louder. and on occasion, i would be drinking a bit harder and joining both of those crowds.
  11. i would be really happy with jackson at 12. to me, this is taking the big swing. he has undeniable talent, and if they think that jackson at 12 and using the rest of the picks to round out the team is greater than giving up everything to try for a guy in the top five, then i am ok with that.
  12. i agree with this. i think that the "liquidation of assets" leading into the draft was done with the express purpose of having as much "draft capital" as possible at their disposal. their have to be various players they covet at various costs. how much they are willing to pay for who, and the differences between said player and the next on their board are going to be a very important part of the process. all i know is that this could be incredibly fun, or extremely frustrating, depending on how everything plays out. but right now, i am definitely trusting the process! it is our version of "serenity now".
  13. i don't think that gets it done. cleveland has been as bad as you can be for a while now. their fans have suffered enough. now, with the first pick, they can grab whoever their vision of the franchise qb may be. this year, with a talented group, they can get the apple of their eye and focus on getting out of the basement. to get that pick from them, you would probably have to go out of your way to do something really, really stupid.
  14. this is exactly right. exactly. because the buffalo wing is a sacred thing. and its compliment is blue cheese. it's kinda like peanut butter ad jelly, or tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. i mean, you can change it up, but you better be prepared to get the stinkeye.
  15. this. the jets have paid and incredible cost to move from 6 to 3. we would be moving higher up from further away. the ransom on that deal would be incredible. and it would hurt, a lot.
  16. it would certainly be anticlimactic. the speculation has been incredible so far this offseason, and we have a way to go yet. it's not exactly what i would want to have happen, but there are many teams that want a qb, just look what the jets gave up to move up three spots! i would love for the bills to get "their guy", whoever that may be. but i would bet these guys have plans A, B, C, D, E, and F all laid out. and i am also pretty sure they have values attached to everyone. so, in the process i shall trust.
  17. maybe it's not him they are moving up for. at 12 there could be a big time playmaker available. if they really like rudolph (as opposed to moving obscene amounts of draft capital to take a swing) then nabbing him at 22 may be the play. use the rest of the picks to fill in around him, strengthen the team overall. just a "what if".
  18. franchise qb is need 1-10! everything else is "i would like to have..." or "we could upgrade...". get us that darned qb! we are just frothing at the mouth for it right now!
  19. love tyrod. classy guy with a big heart. leader, great community guy, coaches and teammates loved him. complete class act. but...we all know the story. wish him all the best going forward. but on to the next chapter. which is hopefully titled FRANCHISE FRIGGIN' QUARTERBACK!
  20. very true. they are in the "what if" stages of the relationship. what if this guy is finally healthy? what if he returns to form? what if he is our lock down LT for the next decade?
  21. i like glenn quite a bit. but i will LOVE it if we can grab one o' them there franchise QBs!
  22. in all honesty, i think that we have to prepare for a step back this season. and with that in mind, next year's first and second round picks will likely be very important, and could be of very high value. having said that, other teams might be thinking along these lines as well, and prefer next year's picks to this year's.
