No thank you and No thank you.

Per ESPN Chicago: Lovie Smith has been contacted by four teams interested in having him interview for a head coaching position, a source told ESPN. No interviews are being set up at the moment because most teams are talking to assistants who are available and coaches who are involved with the bye week of the playoffs. Those teams are expected to contact Smith later to set up formal interviews, the source said.

Ken Whisenhunt for HC?

Right on! As goes the QB, so goes the Head Coach. Ex: Mike Shanahan. -
Russ Brandon named President/CEO

My bad! It was a quote from Buddy Nix mid Season ... Nix expressed his distaste for the Bills’ revolving door at the head-coach’s office at midseason. “The age-old thing – and they’ve done it around here for years – is to start over about every three years,” Nix said. “What that does is make damn sure you don’t make it. ... You change every three years and you never quite get there. That’s my take.” -

Reading Buddy's reaction to Chan's firing it seems obvious he is NOT in charge of football matters. Buddy made it sound like it was someone elses decision. I'm not a fan of Brandon. How did he get to where he is? Does he have incriminating evidense on Mr WIlson? He's a marketing guy full of gimmicks (ala T.O.) and smoke and mirrors. His MO is to dupe the fan base. Dick Jauron? Chan Gailey? Really? Did any of you think these guys were going to being us to the big dance? Let's see who they present us with .... this time. -
Buffalo Bills fire Head Coach Chan Gailey

Interesting reaction from Nix: “The age-old thing – and they’ve done it around here for years – is to start over about every three years,” Nix said. “What that does is make damn sure you don’t make it. ... You change every three years and you never quite get there. That’s my take.” I disagree Buddy - you didn't identify a decent QB and for that Chan paid and most likely you will pay. A head coach and/or GM is only as good as their QB. As goes the QB, so goes the HC/GM. Sorry, loved Chan as a person and straight talker, but clearly not the answer. Buff News was right, the teams lack of Defnese did him in. I would even argue his Offense did him in ... and he was an "offensive guru". -
Turns out Pete was right. You would of course expect a HC to say really positive things about a draftee he was responsible for ... talking him up so to speak. So, in this case he was right. I think the Bills ought to take a Seattle approach to finding a good QB: that is to keep trying until you find the right guy ... from matt Hassleback to Charlie Whitehurst to Tavaris Jackson to Russell WIlson. Keep trying til you find the right QB ... even if it takes 3-5 years ... keep trying ,,, knowing there are good picks in 2nd and 3rd round ...THEN build around around him, from inside out.

I had the exact same observation as I watched a bit of football last weekend as well. The Bills seem like boys among men. Other defenses seem to be controlling line of scrimmage, pushing back OL's and pressuring QB. Amazing to see wide open TE's and to watch QB's throw accurate passes into tight coverage. Seems so foreign to me. Watching Bills offense with white knuckles just waiting for the F'up to happen or another 3 and out. Are there vast differences between the Bills and elite teams or do we just need a good QB and a couple more play makers? Another thought: Nix hired Chan and Chan hired George Edwards and then Dave Wanstadt. Why George Edwards? Why gamble? What were his qualifications? Waste of time, IMO. Wanny doesnt seem to have any answers to ability to adjust or innovate. We hardly have an attacking defense and are not scaring ANY teams out there. Bah Humbug, Merry Christmas.

Who says Chan gets fired tomorrow?
DallasBillsFan1 replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed, my thoughts exactly. Wannstadt must go, which is a given when Chan gets the heave ho. Still can't get over how much time Russell Wilson had in the pocket (all too familiar week in and week out) ... moreover 270 yards rushing ... 8.2 yds per carry. LOTS of improving to do in offseason. Marshawn and coaches were laughing on sidelines ... says it all. -
Trade for Phillip Rivers?

No more re-tread please. Draft a good prospect and keep fingers crossed. -
would you rather win out or loss out.
DallasBillsFan1 replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
DUH?? Of course lose out. Look what a top draft pick gets you: Luck, RG3, etc ... Pah-leese. Not to mention we lost out on Luke Kuechley, Von Miller, etc ... in years past and those guys are really good LB's. -
Who will be HC next year?
DallasBillsFan1 replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you F'ing nuts? Jack Del Rio out of our league??? Who wants that dude? Mike Tice ... he's a friggin TOOL and ineffective at HC. No thanks to both. Both are in same league as Chan ... average at best. -
Yes, you are most likely right. If you want to win and create advantages for your team in the future, you must be calculated. Is Belichick aware that the Colts play the Bills the week after??? OF COURSE he is. The players need to be focused week to week, a head coach needs vision. I think sports is 90% mental and 10% physical ability. Coaches should use psychology during the game (calling TO right before field goal attempt) and throughout the season to give advantages to their team (running up points to rev up Colts for the forthcoming Bills game - a divisional opponent). So, YES, I think you are right.

Detroit threw on 3rd and three .... hey, other teams throw on 3rd and short too.

Rob had a good day yesterday but has never coached a top 5 defense. No thanks. Rex still has enough moxy to warrant another shot at HC somewhere else. He is hitched to Sanchez as Chan is hitched to Fitzy ... that's the fatal flaw. Hire Mangini as DC.

Here's why: I saw only the first drive at beginning of game today and then left house to run errands. Out for 3 hours. Came home and I knew game was still on b/c friend was texting me. The fact that I turned the game on late in the 4rth quarter and became emotionally attached ... THAT'S why they lost. Had I not switched on the TV and just let them play without me watching, they would have won. I'm so sorry ... so very sorry.

Nah. Past his prime. WOuld bring in West Coast offense which would take 2 seasons to even get off ground ... not to mention we do not have QB or personnel to handle. Not gonna happen.

Ditto. What a mess of a team. Chan's offense scored three touchdowns. Pathetic. Poor third down conversions. Not sure what to think of Gilmore ... has good days then not so good days, gets burned a lot. Houston was beatable today. An average team could have scored 10-14 points easily in first half. Bills are a bottom 5 team. I watch other teams and often think, why can't the Bills play like that? Bad secondary. Little pressure on opposing QB. No "attack" in our "D". Where's the fire gonna come from on this team? Chan? Nope. Wanstadt up in the booth? No. Looks like business as usual on the sidelines ... losing. I left house in early 4rth qtr. I knew outcome. You did too. Think I'll pocket the $200 Directv fee next year. F**K all y'all!!!!

Are you kidding me? Chan Gailey's offense can muster up a mere 3 field goals? This team cannot convert 3rd downs. Lame. Fitzpatrick, as lame as he is, delivered the ball somewhat well, but his receivers dropped the ball at critical moments (Chandler). I am now opposed to the running back by committee approach ... make Spiller the primary and use Fred as second. Houston was beatable today. An average team could have beaten them. Unfortunately this team is at best a below average team. Bottom 5. The BYE did not help.

Since the Bills are not playing due to Bye, what will you do? At the end of the day tomorrow I may think "hey I can actually enjoy my day and be happy, productive, actually listen to what someone has to say, and not bite my nails." Maybe I shouldn't follow this dreadful team/organization.
