  1. If there's one thing Elway does well, it's evaluate QB talent!
  2. Numbers 1-3 are absolutely huge concerns. I also agree that the kid wanting a trade out of Pittsburgh is a better (MUCH better) fit than Benitendi. I know he was cheap, but I kind of did a double-take when they re-signed Vogelbach. Ruf is pure garbage ... as is McCann. I'd love to see both Alvarez and Baty become full-time players. But that goes back to DH ... if Alvarez is catching every day, they will definitely need a DH. If they can somehow swing Rodon AND get Walker and/or Bassitt back, then that gives some flexibility for the bullpen with Megill and/or Peterson, if need be. Max Scherzer Justin Verlander Carlos Rodon Carlos Carrasco Chris Bassitt/Taijuan Walker David Peterson Tylor Megill I could live with that.
  3. Hue's record was 1-31 because the Browns wanted it that way. And yes ... I absolutely blame Mayfield for Hue being fired when he was fired.
  4. For the love of Christ and everything holy, can we please put the f*cking Beasley thing to bed?
  5. The Mets didn't run away with the division because Scherzer and deGrom each missed a chunk of the season. They cannot go into this season banking on Scherzer and Verlander staying healthy for the full season. I just can't see them ponying up for Rodon after the Verlander deal and the Diaz deal. We shall see. But I agree ... the rotation as-is does not give me any warm fuzzies.
  6. If the season were to start today, this would be the rotation: Max Scherzer Justin Verlander Carlos Carrasco David Peterson Tylor Megill
  7. We watch them both. Bad Santa will be this coming weekend/early next week.
  8. I like that it's 2 years. Better (and smarter) than giving Jake five years. Verlander and Max will be 40 and 39, respectively, next season. Gulp. I think the Rodon ship has sailed. Would love to bring Bassitt and Walker back. Still processing!!
  9. I'm sorry to hear that you'll test positive for Covid in 11 days. Be well.
  10. He did a really good job blocking for Matt Ryan.
  11. Did we also forget that Freddie Kitchens was a HC because Baker Mayfield chased Hue Jackson out?
  12. Who the f*ck wants to watch that?!?
  13. I think Bad Santa 2 is fantastic!!
  14. The terms of this deal make it good, IMO. It's a hell of a lot better than giving deGrom a 5-year deal. Mets will be playing the season with a 40-year-old and a 39-year-old as their aces. I'd love if they could hang onto Bassitt and Walker.
  15. I feel like they surrounded him with talent and he was too wrapped up with being a star to actually work at being a good QB. I very rarely wish failure on anyone, but seeing this little prick crash and burn makes me chuckle.
  16. I was planning on watching Bad Santa 2 that night. Saturday night regular season games EAT D...!

  18. From what I understand, the income tax piece brings it very close to Scherzer money. Consecutive injury-shortened seasons also likely played a role in less money, too. Five years is insane. What the Rangers did is exactly what I didn’t want the Mets to do. I love Jake, but my main concern has not just been “injuries,” but the fact that it seemed like every injury was different. I’ve always thought that his build could never support him throwing 100+ MPH for any sustained period of time. When he’s healthy, he’s nearly unhittable. But the fact of the matter is that he’s only healthy for 50% of the season. I do agree that he likely wanted out of New York (city, not team), but this was a pure money move in the end, and I don’t begrudge him for that. It’s a business. It’s a shame, but I get it. Mets will be a better team for this. Rangers will, too, but how much? If - in all of 2023 - the Rangers win more than a dozen of his starts, I will be shocked. Cohen did the right thing by doing nothing.
  19. My reaction when I heard the news was, "F*CK!" But that is all sentimental. He grew up a Met and has earned a first ballot induction into the HOF. He's been nothing but a pure professional during his entire career and I've enjoyed every day of his tenure. But it's a business and the Mets letting someone else overpay him was the right thing to do. It's his last big contract and I don't begrudge him one bit. I'm glad he's in the AL and I hope he kicks ass. But with Scherzer in the rotation, it's time to get younger around him. It'll be a win-win for the Mets and for Jake.
  20. In which way are we talkin', here? Everyone knows I'm cheap, but I'm not sure what else you might have heard. Well ain't this cute? A Patriots fan telling me how bad it would be if the Bills bent the rules. Bless your little heart!
  21. I get it, man. But I'm not about to bust someone's balls for not wanting to pay $9 to watch a football game. The rich get richer ... NFL, Amazon, players ... and we're left paying to watch games on TV and paying hundreds of dollars to see a game live. I'm for the little guy.
  22. Alrighty, then. Welcome to the board, Mr. Bezos!
