It was the smart move. Baseball is WAYYYY more competitive, with the best players usually NOT being U.S. citizens. As a first overall NFL pick, he would have had to pull a Ryan Leaf to not make guaranteed bank. Even if they drafted a 16-year-old then, it's unlikely that he'd still be playing professional baseball (or any other sport).
