Can lefty hold it together today? He did, now can he finally win a US Open?
Gugny replied to flaz's topic in Off the Wall
There is no way he is hanging on to win this. -
Fairburn would swap Allen for Mahomes. Would you?

Marino, Elway or Young. -
You could have just said, "I'll be there."

I certainly won't take anything away from Mahomes. He's awesome. But let's be honest, here. He was drafted by a much better organization, coaching staff and team - which immediately surrounded him with supreme talent. Josh Allen? Not so much. It's no coincidence that Josh Allen continues to improve as the talent around him improves. That's not to say that Allen hasn't made incredible personal improvements; he has. Throwing passes to Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones isn't setting any QB up to be successful. Replace that with Diggs and Beasley and *poof* now Josh Allen gets the second most MVP votes. Has Mahomes been more successful? Yes. Much more. But it's not just because Mahomes is the better QB. If he is, it ain't by much. I'll stick with Josh.- 369 replies

I think analytics can be valuable. But I don't believe lineups/games can be managed solely by statistics and data. There's not one goddamn statistic that can possibly tell me that removing a pitcher after 4 dominant, scoreless innings is the right thing to do. And he's been doing it regularly. I was really hoping that when BVW and the Wilpons went away, that the Mets would no longer want puppet managers. Rojas is a puppet. There's no effing way he's that stupid. But this is why the last two Mets managers were cutting their teeth at this level. I'm also convinced that it's why we didn't land Girardi. Hitters can't get hot if they don't play consistently. Bullpens can't be effective deep into the season if they're overused early in the season. They need a GM who will hire a manager to manage ball games. Not have some geek give him a printout that tells him how to call the game. Like I said, analytics can absolutely be useful. But the game is played by humans on the field. Not in some ***** database.

High winds and dark skies. Probably not going out today unless it calms down later. I have to keep reminding myself that it's only May. -

You guys see the Mets game yesterday? Rojas is going to kill the bullpen. Not sure if you caught yesterday's game, but Lucchesi pitched 4 innings, threw 43 pitches, gave up 1 hit, no runs and struck out 8. And ***** Rojas pulled him from the game. This guy is a worse manager than Callaway. Sweet Jesus, he sucks. -

Normally, something like this would interest, or at the very least, intrigue me. But this is my favorite Floyd album and my knee jerk reaction to this re-boot is, "why?" As the OP says, lots of great musicians, for sure. I'm sure I will check it out and my guess is that it will be very cool.

Yeah, but all I'm saying is that they could have stayed open - for example - Friday, Saturdays and Sundays - for 6-8 hours/day until people actually need to work again. Just as a bridge. Just a shame that a place with that kind of history has to close altogether.

I may be off, here, but it seems like this hire really bothers you. It also seems like you feel there's no way in hell that this (or any) woman could POSSIBLY be the best candidate to be an offensive assistant on an NFL team. If she wasn't the most qualified/best candidate for the job, so what?? There's no doubt she has the skills and experience to perform the job. Why not give her a shot while making the staff more diverse? Let's not pretend that the Bills, or any other team, will win or lose games because of the performance of an offensive assistant. Moves like this will eventually pave the way for women to become RB coaches, QB coaches, OL coaches, then coordinators and head coaches. Without moves like this, everything else becomes impossible. Why the hell would you, or anyone else, have a problem with this?

I'm seeing a lot of local places (pizza joints, corner stores, delis) alter their open days/hours due to the lack of help. It's sad. I doubt there's much overhead for a hot dog place that's been around for a half century. Shutting it down like this seems extreme. I'm sure some shorter hours and a 5 day/week open schedule would have still been profitable. Either way. Sad.
