If you want to destroy my sweater (whoa, oh, oh) Hold this thread as I walk away (as I walk away) Watch me unravel, I'll soon be naked Lying on the floor, lying on the floor I've come undone

I think you're spot on with everything you said ... especially the new target audience. Part of what I've always loved about baseball is strategy. It's what made the NL better, IMO. As the strategy continues to shift to using 5 pitchers/game to face batters who either hit HRs or strikeout, they won't lose fans like us ... but I'm not sure how many more they'll gain. I don't think it's a good business model. Making the game less-cerebral makes absolutely zero sense to me.

If I ever towel-snapped my own nuts like that, I'd still be on the ground!

I've always loved the DH only being in the AL. Thankfully, this transition has been discussed for well over a decade and I've had time to accept it before they finally pulled the trigger. This is a much bigger discussion, but I have not been a fan of Manfred's tenure as Commish. I disagree that all of these changes are necessary. I think it's totally asinine that they're moving toward a shift ban. These are professional hitters. They're coming to bat with half of the field un-defended. Hit to the opposite ***** field and stop swinging for the fences. But MLB (Manfred) wants more home runs. I like traditional (NL) baseball, where runs are manufactured. Actually drawing walks is a lost art. Stealing bases is a lost art. Hitting it where they ain't is a lost art. Pitching a complete game is a lost art. I don't think more change is the answer. I think getting back to fundamental baseball (starting with little league) is the answer. But I know that ship has sailed.

I will respectfully disagree with you.

You should probably be more concerned that the letter S looks like the letter N to you.

I think he ends up with the Dodgers. -
He had one before he left here? I must have been drunk.

Yes, Phillies. Not sure what the hell I was thinking. And YES. Good for both of us. My son (he will be 19 next week) is not a big sports fan. But he has learned over the years that whenever Familia was called in, there was a good chance of seeing his father lose his sh!t. So even if he wasn't in the living room with me watching the game, he'd always keep an ear out. Whenever Familia was called in, it was automatically, "Oh, Jesus Christ, here goes THIS ***** lead!!" And my son would quickly take a seat in the living room. It was like a goddamn sitcom to him to see me blow a gasket every time that bum would blow a late game lead, LOL. So glad he's gone and VERY glad he's still in the NL East!!

Yes. The Seattle game and a handful of Miami games. He gave us those. The rest of the games? We got crap. Good riddance.

Eh. Screw him and his race card. ***** bum. Best thing he ever did was leave and somehow get us a 3rd round pick. Bum.

Yeah, I figure there are agencies out there who target late-round picks and take 2% or something like that. You have a handful of agents and snag a couple hundred of those types of players, there's some money to be had. And yes ... I think agents have a hand in everything their clients do, so I don't think it's a walk in the park.
-
I think the low end is 1.5%, but could be wrong. But yeah ... I was thinking the same kind of thing.
-
Self-repping is still a trend and I think it's great. Well ... part of me thinks it's great. I did some reading about agents a little while back and they do a hell of a lot more than negotiate contracts. That 3% could be worth it. But I don't know enough about it to form an informed opinion.
